We have just arrived back this morning and I feel I need to write to say to anyone that has booked to stay at the Lui Beach that you have made the right choice. From the minute we arrived we were looked after. The staff are lovely and friendly and nothing is too much bother. Why people need to find fault is beyond me. Every evening when we arrived back from the beach we were greeted with a different display made out of the towels which I might add were always clean. The room (111) was spacious and clean. I have stayed in Candolim and Calangute on many occassions and will return to this hotel tomorrow (given half the chance, as my heating is on maximum and I am already missing the Goan sunshine). We found a nice shack in our first week called Claudina's. What lovely staff and the food excellent but sadly this was spoilt with the amount of drunk Indians on this part of the beach. I have never seen this before and can only hope the shack owners and beach security do something before it ends in tears. We ended up catching a tuk tuk each morning to our favourite shack 'Budda Bar' so much more relaxing. A must whilst staying in Calangute/Candolim is a visit to Chef Souymen's Kitchen. The food was to die for!! It's no wonder he has the number 1 spot on TA.
Baga was disappointing, not worth paying the taxi fare for a meal which can be had closer to home. Thank you to Sanjay the manager at Seashell always makes us so welcome and helps us arrange our trip to Palolem. Again good food and excellent value. One last thing - if anyone is thinking of buying a leather coat visit Rambo and Leather Touch next door to the Magnum Hotel on the main road. We came away with 9 leather coats/jackets (all made to measure) and 4 handbags between 6 of us. Just be careful with your luggage allowance as one family was charged £120 for being 12 kilos over. Makes those bargains expensive!!

We found this hotel a brilliant place to stay. The room we had was huge (101). Basic but adequate for all we needed. Clean and comfy. We found all the staff more than helpful. Peter the manager was polite, and vey approachable. My son often went down to breakfast before me and my husband, and when we went down there was always one of the staff chatting to him. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The man who keeps the pool clean does his job very well. Its at the quieter end of Candolim, which was great as its only a 5-10 min walk into the busier area, but lovely and quiet at night. we heard little ceremonies in the little chapel outside the grounds a couple of times. That was really nice. All in all, a great place to stay. Cannot wait to go back sometime!!

Stayed at this hotel in January 2011, I have to say I thought considering what we paid it really was a lovely little hotel. Some people may find it a little too far from the hustle and bustle but to be honest that was a bonus for us. Most of the guests were pleasant but of course there were the usual tattoo terrors, I've been here 20 times before, we own the place brigade as is the norm in Goa these days. Our room though basic was spacious and clean and the staff were always polite and helpful. If you have never been to Goa before this hotel is a decent standard without paying a fortune, I have paid more and stayed in far far worse. Goa has changed dramaticly since my wife and I have been going there but if you are fresh to Goa it is still a vibrant and fun destination if you remember where you are and go with an open mind. It's Marmite time, some will love it and some will hate it.

We stayed at this hotel in March and had a great time. Great hotel to use as a base for getting around the fantastic Goa. I cant believe some of the reviews for this hotel - this hotel is a 2 star hotel in Goa you cannot expect the same standards as a 5 star hotel in Europe. We intially had a room at the front of the hotel over the road with no air conditioning - which we changed the next day to a lovely room overlooking the gardens and paid extra for air conditioning well worth doing about £50 for 2 weeks. The room and rest of the hotel was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was basic but we had warm clean water and it did the job. The room boys are great very hard working and do a great job - they are very friendly we found that any requests we made were met. Peter the manager was a lovely man - he is always on hand to give advice and sort any issues you may have.
Breakfast is basic tea/coffee and toast with jam - but if you want a cooked breakfast you can pay extra (cheap) or there are many bars/shacks within a couple of minutes walk where you can get a cooked breakfast for a couple of quid.
We did a sunset Dolphin boat trip arranged by the hotel owner - we went on the owners own boat - what a great trip just the two of us and a boat driver who spoke good english and was great at spotting dolphins - we spotted loads amazing. We also got to see the local prison and the mansion of a diamond smuggler. We previously paid for a simular trip with Johns boat tours which really didnt compare to this trip. It cost us about £12 each and this includes transport from the hotel and back.
The hotel does a karoke twice a week and yes the guy hasnt got a great voice but its just a bit of fun not the x-factor!!
This hotel is about a 5 minutes walk from a great section beach which is lovely (and quiet) - it is about a ten minute walk to the famous washed up ship (which was being dismantled while we were there.
This was our second trip to Goa and we would return to this hotel and candolim we really enjoyed it. Candolim has something for everyone lovely beach, great cheap restaurants/beach shacks and good entertainment.
We went on my trips around Goa i would recommend the spice plantation, jeep safari to the waterfalls, crocodile tour, Anjuna market (wed day) and makkies market (sat night).
There are many lovely beaches to visit we took a tuk tuk to Morjim (beautiful) beach very quiet with just a couple of beach shacks. Anjuna beach worth a visit - you can get a bus there from the main candolim road (cheap).

Room Tip: pay for a upgrade to air conditoned room - well worth money

It was three years ago when we stayed there and It will be the last place I'll think of staying we had a room overlooking the pool but it was'nt very clean the electricity was off in our room more than on but the room next to us had staff in it and there electricity did'nt go off. Half way through the holiday we was asked by a fellow holiday maker if we had seen the rat no sooner had she said it than the rat came out from behind the bar, we never ate there again. It is also a bit too far out of the main part of Candolim

We arrived at this "hotel" early hours on 6th April...believe me If i could have got a flight straight home I would have!! The original room we were given was akin to a prison cell!! The next room we were given was above the bar where it was noisy!!! We've been to Goa before so know what to expect and appreciate standards are totally different to other countries so it's not a culture shock for me!! The sheets were filthy, towels looked as if they had been used to wipe the floors with and the pillows....let's just say I had to buy new ones with clean pillow slips!! The Thomas Cook rep was about as useful as a chocolate fireguard who eventually refused to meet with me to discuss my complaint....We ended up having to change hotels at our own expense. The kitchen area where breakfast was prepared was filthy, the serving boys were also dirty, never washed their hands and had the same dirty clothing on day in day out. The manager there is nothing but a money grabber!! Money for this, money for that, eat at my hotel......yeah do that if you want to end up in hospital!!! Believe me Thomas Cook will regret receiving my letter of complaint....the best laugh was the rep telling everyone to give him a good report so that he could get his job back next year............somehow I don't think he will have a job next year!!!!
