This is simply the friendliest hotel we've ever stayed in. ALL the staff greet you with genuine smiles, from the talented towel-artist room-boys to the helpful receptionists - even the gate-man who let us back in at 4.30am once or thrice has a grin for everyone.

Rooms are huge but basic - more storage space wouldn't go amiss so that my husband could've unpacked his case instead of just me! However the extra hangers we requested arrived without fuss. Our room had a double aspect - a balcony overlooking the pool at one end and another at the front on the main road. The bedroom is at this end unfortunately, which means the honking horns wake you at 6.30-ish every morning. We were offered a change of rooms but were too lazy to move so we can't complain! Anyway, the fridge works, the shower works and the air-con works, what more can you ask? And with the bigger of the two pools a stride away, we were otherwise happy with the position. We plan to return to Goa next January when it's hopefully a little cooler than April, and we'll be most upset if we can't stay at the Santana again.

Start with a neg-
Romo given was less than invitiing, in fact it was very tired and sad. i did speak to the reception and was told"but u have 2 balconies?". u can onlyy sit on one at a time and the chairs are only on one? but that wasnt really why i was complaining. anyway we had to sleep 2nights and was then moved. The room was great after that and the holiday started there.

breakfast is served beside the smaller of the 2pools and surrounded by plants and flowers. the staff cant do enough for you.cereals, toast, eggs cooked how u want them. tomatoes and cheese, fresh fruit.

Gardens are kept lovely and everyone works really hard to keep the standards high. The room boys made the towels into lovely things and for my bithday it was really special, with flowers and hearts.

Did use the laundry service once for one wms shirt and shorts and cost 88 rps. came back really well done.

The taylor in the grounds is great. had 2mens shirts made with him. £10.00 each.U wont be disappointed - but can get cheaper outside the hotel, but then you can always get cheaper!

We didnt eat an evening meal at the hotel as we had a list of places to eat and so little time...we did visit - kalinga, stone house, cecilias, mango grove, posh nosh and our fav place,chocolatti-great for sandwiches, cakes and icecream. also have white choc and mango in packs to keep in fridge as a treat, yum

one night we did get back to find the gates all locked up but once we called out the guard was there in a minute to let us in and actually what a great safe place. The hotel has 2dogs but they are soft and dont bother you at all(i get worried over dogs i dont know but it was fine) didnt try the hotel beach shack,as they always had music playing and i wanted the peace, but others said the food was great.

any questions please ask. its a great place and i would go back today if i could - enjoy!

Sometimes 'small' properties turn out to offer great comfort and value for money. I made my booking over the phone, no deposit required. The staff was very warm, the property is small and cozy, the food was very good and the pool is small and clean. Located about 3 min walk from the beach, a few beach shacks open up during the season. Great for a quiet vacation if you don't feel the need for buzz and crowds.

The Santana hotel was perfect for our holiday to Goa... we couldnt have asked for anything more. The staff were so friendly, even the ones who you didnt even need to speak to, such as the gardening staff always said hello with a big genuine smile on their faces. The resort itself is beautiful, with palm trees and pretty flowers and gardens. It has two swimming pools, one of which has a sunken bar (happy hour on cocktails is 5pm -7pm, buy two get one free!). The rooms were clean and very spacious, with a mini bar and sky tv. They are cleaned daily and the cleaning staff leave you a pretty towl sculpture each day on the bed! And (most importantly) not a cockroach or any bug for that matter in sight. The location of the resort was perfect for us, it is near enough to some bars and resturants and shops, but the main area is about a 15 minute walk away. The hotel is pretty much on the beach, however the beach isnt very pretty near the hotel as it has an abandoned rusty ship on the shore and huge black sandbags to stop the sand being eroded away (they look like beached whales). The beach gets a bit nicer about 10-15 mins walk from the hotel. My favourite bit about the Santana? Probably having air conditioning in our room, it was a real treat to come back to! The worst bit about the Santana? Probably that there is a crowd of taxi drivers hanging right outside the hotel gates, who were a bit narked that we had found a taxi driver we really liked who wasnt one of them. Our taxi driver - George - speaks fantastic English, his knowledge of the area is second to none and he is just a really friendly genuine guy, we went out with him for a few drinks to his local a couple of times! His number is 9890512282 if you are looking for an airport pick up we would recommend him.
