“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2011

Overall fantastic hotel.the staff were all lovely and very helpful.the room we had was basic but very clean as was the hotel throughout.was going to eat out a few times but the food was so good the we only went out one night. Also very good evening entertainment provided by the pool every night.hotel was only 2 mins away form the beach and 2mins in the other direction to the shops bars and restaurants.recommend going on the boat trip to see the dolphins in the wild. . .lasted about an hour an half and Only cost 400 rupees(£5.00) for two people.

Only downside to the hotel was the fee for usage of the Internet.1000rupees(£15.00) per day!

Otherwise highly recommended hotel!!!had a fantastic stay!!!

Great hotel in a smashing spot. Short but hot walk to the beach, a bit like running the gauntlet past all the girls wanting you to look in their shops!!. We were the first British guests of the season and not everything was up and running as it should have been but still enjoyed it. Our room in Q block was very spacious with a big walk in shower and flat screen TV. hairdryer. air con. fridge etc. Safety Deposit boxes were in reception and free of charge. We travelled with Thomas Cook on an all inclusive package. The last drinks orders were at 11.00 pm and the staff were quite strict on this... Plenty of bars and restaurants within a 2 minute walk. especially enjoyed 3 European restaurants, Top Nosh.. The Mermaid.. and the Bistro.... During the day, Ryans shack near the life guard was lovely and clean and also further down about a 10 min walk in opposite direction is the Calamari shack which has live music... Most shacks provide free beds if you eat and drink there but even if they charge its around 100 ruppes for 2 beds and umbrella!

There is a taxi rank outside the hotel where you can book a taxi for a short ride into town or a full day excursion, just make sure you barter the price !

Had a made to measure tuxedo Suit and dress shirt made . We used Ravi at the "BE HAPPY" Tailors attached to the hotel, He is not the cheapest in Candolim but the quality is fantastic and worth paying and extra £10.00 or so more. It is about the quarter of the price in the U.K. He has a lot of repeat guest customers and will be your friend for life if you can manage to take him a Next Directory or some Cadburys chocolate!!

There is a little shop just outside the hotel which has a good selection of supplies at a similar price to Newtons, the big supermarket in candolim, you can also exchange money there for a good rate.

We were booked at a different "resort" in the area which proved to be a dump so we were pleasently suprised when we found the Whispering Palms to be a real resort with great ambience. We enjoyed the Goan food offered in the restuarant and the staff was extremely attentive. Room was extremely comfortable except for the AC being noisy more noticable at night.

Room Tip: We were given a room in Section N which looked out to a palm grove which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Was there during Oct 27-30, 2011 with family. Firsts of all I am surprised that properties like this can be a four star? Possibly they have just sufficient facilities to maintain the status but it needs major upliftment across the facilities. The moment you see the room, it puts you off. Small room, No sofa..... (though there is space to accomodate one), just one chair and a study table, Noisy ACs, temperature function doesnot work properly, linens are very old and needed replacement at least two years back. Food is average. Staff is OK behaviour wise but I would not recommend to anyone for the price which they are charging, as this is not value for money. Mattresses very soft (at least we felt it doesnot support the back). Renovation still underway (was told over phone when I booked in Sep 2011, that renovation would be over by the time we visit Goa)..Bathrooms horrible...No bathtubs (at leat in the category "Balcony Rooms").

Room Tip: Go for the best rooms.. (though I have not seen them myself) We were in Balcony rooms and seen two o...

Situated 2 mins from the beach, this hotel delivers a very good service although a little expensive for what it is.Don't get roped into becoming too friendly with the locals, you could get roped into an invitation to a 'cousin's' wedding which will set you back 20 quid. Keep hanbags close to your chest as motorbikes were driving past snatching handbags from your shoulder. Be prepared to barter, start at a third of what they ask and be prepared to pay up to half, if you are turned down walk away, it's likely they will come after you and ask for your best price., don't go up much from your last offer and stick to it.

Room Tip: All very good.

We landed up in October, 2011- a 60 member office trip.. For a lot of us, it was our first time in Goa.. So, all we wanted to do was have fun. Whispering Palms provided us with excellent rooms, services and food and were perfect hosts during our stay. The rooms are comfortable and well designed.. specially the cottages by the pool. The beach is only a 2 min walk from the property. All in all a good stay!

Room Tip: Room by the pool.. is what I would advise.
