We have just returned from 2 weeks in Phoenix Park Inn Resort . We were allocated a room with no balcony in the old block, the rooms were tired and in need of a good 'going over'. (Block above the Reception area)
The rooms were allegedly being cleaned daily, but you had to ask the boy to brush and mop the floors!! The bedding changed weekly.
The new block (ROZA) has almost finished. Rooms were now being allocated, however, we were not the fortunate ones!! Although I did ask!!
The breakfast was same every day, it was ok if you liked eggs!!! The service was on the slow side, although the waiters were brilliant and tried their best to help, it was obvious they were short staff.
Food in the restaurant was ok , not fantastic and a bit pricey compared to the other restauants nearby, where we had some fantastic meals at half price!! CASA SEA Shell restaurant, across the road from the hotel and Inferno which is slightly further down in a side street were two of my favourites! There were others as well...)
You had to be up early to get sunbeds, so we went to the beach instead. Cost 100 rupees for a sunbed on the beach with decent toilet facility (we used Bayview shack)
Entertainment provided by the hotel was rubbish so we were out to different places as taxis and rickshaws'tut tuts' are safe and really cheap. If you've never been to Goa or India before experience taking the local bus, even the once, just for the ride!!! It costs 4 rupees to get to Calungate!!
Overall the holiday was good and the hotel was better that most of the others on this resort with similar ratings but if I were to stay there again, I will insist on the new block and certainly one with a balcony!!
Will I go there again??? Possibly!
