We have just returned from 2 weeks in Phoenix Park Inn Resort . We were allocated a room with no balcony in the old block, the rooms were tired and in need of a good 'going over'. (Block above the Reception area)
The rooms were allegedly being cleaned daily, but you had to ask the boy to brush and mop the floors!! The bedding changed weekly.
The new block (ROZA) has almost finished. Rooms were now being allocated, however, we were not the fortunate ones!! Although I did ask!!
The breakfast was same every day, it was ok if you liked eggs!!! The service was on the slow side, although the waiters were brilliant and tried their best to help, it was obvious they were short staff.
Food in the restaurant was ok , not fantastic and a bit pricey compared to the other restauants nearby, where we had some fantastic meals at half price!! CASA SEA Shell restaurant, across the road from the hotel and Inferno which is slightly further down in a side street were two of my favourites! There were others as well...)
You had to be up early to get sunbeds, so we went to the beach instead. Cost 100 rupees for a sunbed on the beach with decent toilet facility (we used Bayview shack)
Entertainment provided by the hotel was rubbish so we were out to different places as taxis and rickshaws'tut tuts' are safe and really cheap. If you've never been to Goa or India before experience taking the local bus, even the once, just for the ride!!! It costs 4 rupees to get to Calungate!!
Overall the holiday was good and the hotel was better that most of the others on this resort with similar ratings but if I were to stay there again, I will insist on the new block and certainly one with a balcony!!
Will I go there again??? Possibly!

“What a shame”

We have stayed here 3 times before and have always enjoyed our stay at the Phoenix Park, But oh what a crying shame the G.Manager Mr Mario has left and most of the key staff have gone with him, unbeknown to us since our last visit April 07 they have demolished part of the Hotel and where still building an 32 Room 3 storey extention at the Front, Right next to the restuarant (2 metre's) away.
The standards have dropped the hotel is grubby the service and the cleaniness of the rooms and stairs all have suffered terribly, the old staff remaining try their best to carry on, but the New G.M. Mr Anjan Chakraborty has his work cut out for him he must inprove the standards and train the new staff to bring the Hotel back up to standard it was before, if he wants to keep guests to keep coming back year after year. Would l go back ?? only if their was a marked inprovement to the standards

“Great at Phoenix xmas & New Year stay 2007-2008”

Phoenix Park Inn Resort

Stayed at Phoenix 22 Dec 07-6 Jan 08 for 2 weeks. We were last to be allocated rooms after long wait. People before us had rejected rooms allocated to them and we thought the worst. We were put in block 4 and couldn't fault anything. Yes the rooms were a little tired but really comfortable with TV, fridge and electric points . We had hot running water everyday! A first for us in Goa. The building work was just finishing and the new block nearly completed when we left. We peeked into the new rooms which looked really good. The building work did not affect us at all with very little noise. We split our time by the pool and beach and enjoyed both equally. The breakfast was good and no complaints at all, plentiful and reasonably varied. Staff as usual in Goa were brilliant with nothing too much trouble. My husband made trips to the inside bar for football results and updates from the TV which screened live games, much to his joy.

Would I return to the Phoenix? Most certainly. One of the better hotels in North Goa we have stayed in. You need to remember the majority of hotels are on the basic side.

Stayed here Dec 09-16. Building work noise horrendous !!! Angle grinder going from 8am _9.00pm.
Apart from that we were pleasantly surprised. There is no doubt , you get what you pay for. Rooms clean but VERY well worn. Breakfast poor apart from the guy who cooked your egg order fresh. Pool area clean but as said before you have to chase the sun round it as there is so much (to much really) greenery. Also when the new block is completed I can't imagine there being enough beds. If you go expecting a basic 2* as stated ,you should have no issues.

“Goa is Great”

Phoenix Park Inn Resort

Our stay at the Phoenix Park Inn was enjoyable. We did know that some building work was going on at the hotel but it did not affect our stay. Some noise but nothing to worry us that much. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was large and clean and beds changed regularly, clean towels every day. The gardens and pool were kept very clean and towels were provided for pool use. Sun beds were provided and quite comfortable. We did not eat in the restaurant so cannot comment as there are so many places to eat outside. The breakfast was adequate but if you asked for any kind of egg they always cooked to order. We have stayed in Candolim 5 previous times and this was by far the best hotel we have stayed in. Ok its not the Ritz but unless you stay in a 5 star hotel it is very acceptable. The pool is very nice but does tend to be quite shady after about 3pm. We like Goa very much the people are fantastic and its very cheap to eat out. Cost us about £10 a night for the 3 of us for 3 course meal and drinks. Recommend the Casa Sea Shell fantastic food .
