“from “Hate it” to “Love it”!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Arrived here quite late in the evening but had a nice welcome and the hotel lobby looked really bright and clean.
The room itself was spacious and modern with a big shower compartment in the bathroom. The floor was quite dirty and didn’t seem to have been cleaned thoroughly but apart from that it was really nice. It was noisy though with people coming and going into a kitchen down the corridor at night.
Went to breakfast around 9.30am and the dining room, although really large, was absolutely packed out, with lots of tables full of large groups and people milling around everywhere. Nobody greeted us or explained the set up, so it was all a bit bewildering! We managed to find a table which was outside and then we got no kind of service whatsoever!! Finally got to order a coffee with one waiter, it was like dishwater and it was cold! The breakfast was buffet style and although there was a lot to choose from it was mostly uncovered, the supplies were very depleted and what was left looked very tired and unappetising. We were not at all impressed, .
We went out to find the shops and it was about a 25mins walk there and a further 10 mins or so to the beach. Couldn’t understand how everything we had read said it was in such a good location! We were thinking how on earth could we stay at this hotel with awful breakfasts, not very clean room, noisy and in the middle of nowhere - we thought we had made an awful mistake!
We got a tuk tuk back and to our surprise we were at the hotel in about 3 minutes as he went a different way to the one we had walked. It seems we had turned the wrong turning out of the hotel!! Later on, we spoke to quite a few other people who had also done the same. If you go the correct way, it really is in a great, central location!
The pool was really lovely and the attendant there was so nice and helpful. Although there don’t appear to be many sun beds for the size of hotel, we never had any trouble getting one and it never seemed crowded.
Back to our room, the floor had been cleaned, the sun was streaming in and it looked so much better than the previous day, so we were gradually changing our opinion especially as we didn’t notice the noise so much that evening.
Next day at breakfast it was like being in a different place, it wasn’t crowded, the service was brilliant, the coffee was hot and the food plentiful and fresh! We couldn’t believe the change - it really was a great experience.
After that every day, we enjoyed being at the hotel more and more, really grew to love it and were actually very sad to leave!

A great hotel in the centre of Candolim. It is difficult to fault anything with this hotel as everyone was so helpful and friendly. The pool is smallish with a small section fenced off for the children at the one end. The pool attendant couldnt have done anymore for you. He was always there with a smile on his face arranging the towels on the beds, and by the end of the week, knew which beds we wanted and which direction we wanted them facing. It has a swim up bar and the bar attendant is also very friendly. The restaurant at breakfast is normally very busy and we noticed a lot of Indian people were staying in the hotel, which meant that a lot of the breakfast included a lot of spicy food but there are cooking stations in the restaurant, where they will cook your eggs fresh for you. There was a selection of bread and a toaster, but there could have been more of a selection of preserves/jams, meat and cheeses. The rooms were nice and clean and the reception area is clean and attractive, looking out towards the pool. We didnt eat in the hotel in the evening as there are loads of restaurants and bars within walking distance. The hotel is a short distance from the main road along a dusty track, so the coaches drop you on the main road, but it is only about a 5 minute walk. Nearly all the hotels are off the main road down tracks anyway. Once you have walked up the track you are on the main road which stretches both ways for miles with lots of places to eat, drink and shop, although this road is very busy with cars and motorbikes. We say two people knocked over. There is a small uneven footpath on one side, which I recommend to walk on, as it can be dangerous to walk on the road. If you turn of the main road, you will find a track down to the beach, which once there stretches for miles each way with local bars that serve snacks, but beware you may have to share it with a few cows, as they are allowed to roam free on the beaches. There is a local bar next door to the hotel, but we didnt try it. The nearest restaurant is the Top Nosh, which we didnt try until the last day, but I would well recommend this, it looks nothing from the outside, just an entrance, but on entering it has a lovely clean patio area and a garden around the back with lots of tables and a cooking station, where nan is cooked fresh. The hotel has a fish buffet once a week which looked very good, as they arrange all the tables around the pool and have lanterns so it looks really attractive. The food and drink in Goa is really cheap, even eating in the hotel restaurants which we did.

Room Tip: Our room faced the road but it was enjoyable sitting watching the day to day life of Goa and it wasn...

Hi, I was with my wife for our honeymoon at fortune between 4th -7th February. I'd booked a suite since it was a special ocassion. I am extremely happy as the hotel service was exceptional and the food was superb.I usually had breakfast and dinner and both had lot of variety and were really delicious. The room service was excellent and rooms were as you will see on their website. The staff was cordial and we had a great time. it's a 3 minute walk from the candolim beach and I must say it's a place worth staying . I got complimentary pickup/drop from the airport which is very far. Also, had a half day sightseeing tour which was organised in a good way. Overall I'm elated to have made this choice to stay there and definitely would stay again on my next visit.ciao !!!

We stayed at this hotel for three nights during our 11 days trip to Kerala and Goa.

This is one of the nicer hotels in the area and we were very impressed when we arrived at the hotel after a long flight delay etc. We were greeted with glasses of nice fruit juice while the check-in process was carried out.

We were disappointed with the long check-in process and especially when they told us that our room wasn’t available. They however gave us a free upgrade to a better room for one night. The front desk insisted that we must change our room the next day and need to allocate our time for that. This is unusual for a hotel with international reputation where they expect customers to spend time packing/unpacking because they have screwed-up customers reservation.

The room they gave us for the first night was very good.
The next day; instead of enjoying ourselves in Goa, we had to pack and unpack our suitcases to change room again which we were not very happy about. The room they gave us was nothing but a standard room you would expect from a four star hotel and didn’t comply with the room description itinerary they provided during booking. The room was supposed to be a “Luxury room with a touch of class”. It was supposed to have a bath tub and a shower which we wanted. But it only had a shower. The room was supposed to have complimentary fruit basket etc, but there was no such thing. I spoke to the front desk who advised me that the difference between Standard and Luxury rooms was that the Luxury rooms are pool facing and one has to request for the complimentary fruit basket. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was told that manager will contact us shortly but he/she never did. If this hotel was in Europe or America then they would get into trouble for trade description act.

There are a lot of positive things to say about this hotel. The entrance hall and the whole surroundings were amazing. They have a lovely outdoor swimming pool where we were able to enjoy and soak-up the sun. The breakfast they served was absolutely wonderful. The quality of the food and the service is in my view was second to none. The evening menu is slightly expansive considering the fact that there are so many nice restaurants nearby.

On 26th January the hotel celebrated Indian republic day and carried out National Flag hoisting event. It was so nice to have attended such event.

The hotel is conveniently located and within about five minutes from Goa sea beach. There are many shops and restaurants nearby. Goa had a long association with Portuguese past and we visited some of the historical buildings to appreciate their heritage. There is a lady at the hotel front desk who is very knowledgeable on local sightseeing. She gave us a list of historical sites to see and advised us to hire a taxi for sightseeing.

Tips to other holiday makers: keep your expectation down slightly and you will love this hotel like we did at the end. Looking at the hotel room itinerary, we expected a little too much and that’s why we were slightly disappointed. Otherwise this is a lovely hotel.

I've visited the hotel yesterday itself, on Feb10th for 2 days.
Its fantastic to have this hotel as our choice, coz the friendly and smiling welcome by the staff members, (not to forget the tasty welcome drink) especially to mention- at Reception: Poonam was very enthusiastic and friendly to help me and my wife for check-in, and other formalities.

It was excellent trip to Goa, and we enjoyed our time.

below are few facts:

Positive:
1) Excellent support staff
2) specious rooms
3) clean neat and tidy
4) Excellent breakfast
5) Rent-A-Bike spot just besides the hotel

Negative:

1) checking time is approx 12pm-2pm : so in morning it takes you to go on beaches/site seeing 1st and then have bath coz the checking time is late afternoon. so if you take any buses from PUNE/MUM to travel to goa (it reaches in morning with overnight journey) in morning you keep your baggage at lobby have breakfast and move for the site seeing for 2-3 hrs of good time.

2) TV - less choice of Channels, i missed most is SUB TV, which was not broadcasted in room for these 2 days

3) Waiting area near reception - There are only 2 coaches, mostly someone is either packing/unpacking the bags then you do not have much space to sit... instead of sofa, i would recommend around 7-8 chairs to be kept around so it would be easy for travelers to have

4) they do not have bath tub in Delux rooms :(

However, The positive points take over these Negative points easily, and after all the satisfaction level i got is -- ++, so the negative's can be ignored..

Overall comfortable and nice stay.

Thanks to the TEAM FORTUNE.

Few Tips :

1) to reach candolim from Mapusa - Auto rikshaw takes around 250 Rs(email me for more info)

2) to reach airport from Hotel Select Regina takes around 1100 Rs (email me for more info)

3) Activa/Dio can be taken on rent for 250 Rs per 12 hours (after depositing your original ID proof) -- Helmet is provided by the agent and compulsory on main roads and highways.

4) While going from CANDOLIM TO PANJIM --> Instead of long ride and traffic, Take BOAT JETTY or FAIRY RIDE to go from 1 side to other side of the river --- its very nice, and FREE
drive your car/bike in the fairy and get to other side of the river easily in 7-8 mins.

5) Bargaining is important on any stall - if you speak marathi/kokani -- you'll get a personal touch, foreigners are being told very high rate - instead they should consult any local driver if they have any :) so he can work as a translator and give the best deal :D

6) WINE & CASHEW--> Take KAJU(Cashew) & homemade wine from KAMAT store near PANJIM Bus stand -- Its very much reasonable and Taste's fabulous !! (Homemade wine is really excellent -try before going for any port wine or any other red wine ... i tasted and bought 2 bottles extra)

7) for INDIAN's -> if Roaming between 12PM-5PM ==> Must wear a full sleeves shirt along with cap, glares and a wet scarf to prevent from Tanning.

8) Decide your travel-plan -- few nice places to see - miramar beach, Fort agoda Jail, goa science park, museum, Churches, Mangeshi Temple (they say your wish gets fulfilled here)

9) Just take your RENT-A-BIKE & Have fun in GOA, roam all goa in 2-3 days :)
(enjoy driving, petrol at 55Rs)

Room Tip: Nothing special about selection of rooms, however try to take one facing the poolside to enjoy the i...

The hotel is at a walk-able distance (10 mins) from Candolim beach (as per me it is the best beach in North Goa in terms of crowd (decency wise) and has few sales personnel to nag you). The hotel is very close to the main road where you have all the activities through out the day (but its not as busy as Calungute and Baga area). There's a restaurant by the name 'Top Nosh' near the hotel which I believe is the best in this area.

Pros:
1. 10 mins walk from the beach
2. Bikes for rent - next door
3. Hotel is well maintained
4. Best if you are looking for a calm location not far from happening places

Cons:
1. Bit far from active night life (Titos/Club Cubana)
2. No Live entertainment at hotel
3. Room service is bit slow (had a bad locker experience)
4. Avoid half day city tour, its not worth going

Hotel needs to maintain its bathrooms, our bathroom's washbasin had a small leak.

Room Tip: Views are not that great from any room but still pool facing is better than other. Secondly avoid gr...

Me and my fiancé stayed in this hotel in November 2012. It was our first holiday to Goa and we couldn't have asked for anything better!! When we arrived at 3am we was greeted my friendly staff and a glass of apple juice! Check in was very quick we was shown to our room which was overlooking the pool, the room was very clean, spacious and quiet and the bed was HUGE!! During our stay here we did not have 1 complaint it was fantastic. All the staff were brilliant, very helpful, friendly and always smiling. The location was perfect and 10 minute walk from the beach. This is definitely the best hotel we have stayed in and when we return to Goa we will be booking this hotel again. I cannot say 1 bad word about this hotel and the staff! Overall FANTASTIC! : )
