I went with my family (my husband, parents and grandparents in law) for a 3 day vacation to Goa and stayed at this property. The first night was at Bogmallo cottages (since the main hotel did not have any rooms free) and that was quite a sad looking cottage...completely avoidable...especially for the price one pays for that.

next day we moved into the main hotel and what a view from the room! It was simply fantabulous and the sounds of the sea eaves could be heard clearly and whole day...that made it even more charming. I have travelled extensively around the world and stayed in several beach side/ sea view properties but this one was clearly among the top few.

The hotel is a bit old and has that old look charm to it but upholstery/ sofa/ furniture was still modern and updated...blending well with the ambience. My most wonderful moments were those spent sitting in the main lobby..its spacious, not cluttered and well lit with daylight coming in. Lovely breeze kept blowing making it really pleasant to sit there for hours and sip tender coconut.

I used the gym...machines are REALLY old and make all kinds of noises and sounds when used. Infact, while i was exercising nuts and bolts were falling out. Those need replacement for sure. Massage girl was good. Sauna/ steam temperature cannot be adjusted and its very high but one could manage. There are carrom./ chess/ pool/ TT options also. Staff at the health club was helpful. We went cycling around the nearby areas and loved it. Not at all crowded and small goa lanes around the property.

Experience with service was pathetic. They just dont understand things. You have to be patient to make them understand what u want. I am a veg and food was average. I believe my non veg family enjoyed the seafood a lot...authentic goan preparations. Breakfast is pretty drab and usually cold.

Beach is a public beach but not much crowd unless its a public holiday. It was pretty clean, I would say. Sand is soft.

This was our first visit to Goa our tour operator was First Choice. We stayed at the Bogmallo Beach resort in early November, the weather was brilliant 12 days of sunshine and blue skies out of 14 and the other two were just overcast. The resort was very quiet which made getting a sunbed easy something we had not experienced anywhere else.

Unfortunately I was ill with an upset tummy for quite a bit of the holiday, this I put down to the anti-malaria tablets as I was ill before I left home and wasn’t too good after I got back. My wife was fine though.

The hotel is nice we were on the third floor and the room overlooked the sea (As they all do) that is lovely especially for watching the beautiful sunsets. You can hear the waves crashing on the beach when you lay in bed its that close. The room was in good condition and very well looked after by the staff always cleaned and towels changed twice daily. Its definitely worth asking for a room on the upper floors though because I think the palm trees would obscure the view lower down.

The reception and bar area was very nice and well kept and the staff were very helpful

We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis that was a good move I think, we spoke to some guests who had been here before on an All Inclusive basis but went B&B this time around. I didn’t fancy the menu that was on in the evenings it seemed to be mainly curry without much choice so that wouldn’t have been very good for me with a dickey tummy. The breakfast was ok but we stuck to toast, cereals and cake the hot food just didn’t look appetising.

The pool area seemed to get a lot of criticism on this site somewhat unfairly I think. Yes it could do with a bit of work to tart it up a bit for example a little cleaning and re-grouting of the tiles in the pool and a bit of cement in between some of the paving slabs outside the pool. I do think people should realise however that they are in a third world country and not in the UK or USA. They were starting to paint parts of the hotel so they are going in the right direction.

The beach was nice and the sea was so warm but there were no sunbeds down there, I think though had there been I would have got fed up with the sellers very quickly. That was one downside outside the hotel the sellers were persistent it had to be a very firm and polite no sometimes. We met Bash the jewellery seller who has been mentioned on this site a few times some people seemed to get a good deal with him but personally I wouldn’t’ trust him. Generally though the Goan people are very friendly.

We ate in the evenings in the beach shacks, Joets at the end of the beach was very good and had live music on a Saturday night. Mostly we used the Full Moon just outside the hotel the food there was excellent and we were treated very well. It was cheap as well even for lobster, which my wife loves.

We did a couple of trips organised by First Choice, the first a boat trip was excellent, we saw dolphins and had a barbeque on an island, the guides were excellent as well. The second trip to the Dudhsagar Waterfall was a nightmare it was just too far away for just one hour actually there, it took three hours to get back dropping off at all the other hotels. We also took a taxi to the Anjuna Flea Market that was an experience, very hot and the sellers were full on 100% to get you to buy, we must have spent about £80 on not that much!!! Something to see but only once I think unless you like that kind of thing.

Would we come again? Probably not, my upset tummy obviously didn’t help me enjoy it but I wouldn’t want to put anyone off coming. For us we would prefer a place slightly busier with just a few more choice of restaurants. If you like a very quiet places good weather and very laid back then Bogmallo Beach is the place for you.

Keep off, keep away, do not go to this resort.

Its a 5 Star room, 5 Star location, Close to the Airport, with some great reviews, but the management and the policies of the hotel stink, suck and the staff at the front desk, especially the duty managers either are totally ignorant, or totally don't care.

I was personally asked to get out of here, on asking for a detailed explanation by the Duty manager (Gautham) who apologized and made things better, only to be told the next day that he had made a mistake and did not have authority to act.

To this, the "GET OUT OF HERE" stood and I cut my 6 night holiday at this resort down to 1 night of stress, tense hours.

The food tasted really bad, even basic items such as tomato soup tasted foul. The rest of the food looked unpalatable, and the attitude of the food services manager and executive chef was basically "I don't care - that's what is included in the All Inclusive package"

The amenities of the hotel are a poor excuse to and basically included to enhance the attractiveness of the property.

The location is really good, the beach is fantastic, but I would rather be staying on the beach for these items than the resort as they do not contribute anything to further the location and the beach for my comfort or palate.
