“Delicious Goan food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Mum's Kitchen is a quaint little restaurant on the wayside serving absolutely yummy Goan food.

PROS:

- very quaint, Goan decor
- delicious fresh seafood
- warm and friendly waiters

CONS:

If the place is crowded they can take quite a long time to bring your order. We made the mistake of "trying out" one starter, before ordering the other. That was a bad idea. If you can try and order your starters and main course together.

“Excellent genuine Goan Portuguese food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

This was recommended by a Portuguese-speaking Goa resident. Having lived in Portugal myself, I was keen to try it, and it did not disappoint. (I was advised to make a reservation, and am glad I did. I was comfortably seated upon arrival, but a couple dozens walk-in diners were turned away.) The restaurant itself is airy, spacious, and elegantly appointed with about a dozen tables. The food is carefully prepared and served, and definitely delivers. Many classic of Indo-Portuguese cooking are on the menu, and the two that I tried were superb. Service was attentive, nothing was rushed. The wine selection was interesting, with quite a few intriguing local wines, which I unfortunately did not try as I was alone. I also recommend a glass of cashew feni, the local moonshine, at the end. It reminded me of Portuguese bagaceira, a brandy made from grape pomace, but with a slightly anisy after-taste. I was in Goa for 4 days, and specifically sought out restaurant that served great Goan cuisine. This was the best. (Runner-up: O'Coqueiro, about 5 km North of Panjim; worst service was at Viva Panjim).

Prawns curry, chicken xachuti - oh wow - to die for!
Just repeat the same order, over and over again
Rice or bread, goes very well with both

“good food but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

well the taxi driver told us that it takes forever for the food to come but as it comes highly recommended we still chose to go.
The ambience is good but the waiter for reluctant and it took a lot of time for the food to be served to us. It is a lil expensive as well, if compared to other stand alone restaurants in town.
The food was good but all of the above made us ignore the fact.
