“Avoid if possible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

Ocean Panorama is not a hotel for the middle class, its for the poor class. This hotel is so bad that I strongly do not recommend any family to check-in. Daman is a place where people come for holidaying, they need to have a good time, least they need is a bad place to stay in. The rooms are ugly, the hotel amenities are bad, the toilets are worse and the food is the worst. The only saving grace is the decent service offered by the hotel staff, though none of them are professional and require training badly (don't forget to tip them right from the beginning). The hotel is also surprisingly priced among the 3Star category.

Room Tip: please note that there are no rooms facing the ocean, even though travel site or the hotel may claim...

Firstly note that this is not a beach property - its across the road and about 150 mts from the beach with no real access road to the beach nearby !!

If you are expecting anything more than Bed and Breakfast, you will be very disappointed. I have been to this hotel atleast 3 times, all the times for an office trip. A bunch of guys going to daman for the booze as Gujarat is a dry state.

There is no reception area its just an open lobby with a counter at the end. The rooms are basic and now in real need of a facelift and renovation. The air-con is pretty good but the bed, mattresses are outdated.

The breakfast is pretty good with Daman standards and the food preparations are good too. I would suggest you buy your booze from a wine shop as that is the better option. If you wish to have Beer - you will need to explain the staff about the temperature you need for it as they dont seem to have chilled beer - its just cool.

Things to note :
1) No lift in the hotel, so choose the floor keeping that in mind.
2) Mosquitos can be bothersome in some rooms.
3) Bargain very hard.
4) Hotel doesnt have any extra space apart from the entrance lobby.
5) Room service can be really slow on weekends.

Room Tip: The rooms towards the front - road side are the best and comparatively larger.

This hotel can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for.. they have nothing lined up for u in terms of a water park, orchestra, fun rides, beach (yes, no beach.. this is on the other side of the road..), glitzy rooms (the rooms at sea rock inn looked amazin.. and huge.. with awesome furniture/bed but cost a bomb), etc.. so it would be a no-no for all that..

but apart from that if you're just looking for a place to crash, running on a tight budget but looking for a good deal.. would be consuming lotsa alcohol/food.. need a clean room and a good bathroom (v imp for me).. good airconditioning cuz u want to leave the heat behind..

then this place is the real deal.. nothing like it..

for starters the room rent is reasonable.. do not book online.. go there and bargain hard.. went first time round and got the a/c room for 1600 (tariff card says 2000-2200 etc.. ) with tax), nect time 6 of us took 2 bedrooms with 2 extra mattresses and it came to 1600 per room only (no tax cuz he said he wouldn make out a bill).. these are off season rates.. (had seen dariya darshan which was cheaper but the rooms were pathetic.. u need to be drunk before check in for moving in there..)

the food was pretty nice.. staff dont seem to make an issue if u bring in booze from outside.. u get a 15% discount on food..

u can take a short walk to devka beach.. u can go eat at restaurants of any of the other fancy hotels, u can check out the dance floor at mirasol, the orchestra at miramar or anything else from here.. so i felt it was a good deal.. esp when they give u clean rooms with good toilets (even a bathtub if gettin drunk in there is ur thing) and good airconditioning..

For all the reasons stated above I think this place is really good.. the only place i didn get a chance to check out was al jazira which was full when i checked..

Room Tip: Make sure you see what all rooms they have to offer.. ask for an upgrade at the same price while bar...

This hotel is on Devka beach, just opposite to hotel Jazira...we're misleaded by the photographs and description provided by the hotel...hence booked this hotel. It has no direct access to beach, though it's just opposite side of the road (newly constructed wall inbetween). Food was also not great and nor the restorant. While booking they said- sea facing room (spent Rs 600 more for that) but actually couldn't view the sea properly due to coconut trees and distance. We enjoyed our sunset and dinner with IPL matches on big screen at Jazira beach restorant, which was the only thing which I like about Daman....
By the way, we thought this place (Daman) would be somewhere close to Goa or Diu...which is not the case....place is too shabby, most of the Surat/Vapi & other people come there over weekend just to have alcohol...certainly not a good place of visit for family..yeah but good for somebody who likes to drink like anything (alcohol is cheaper here). There are only two beaches and one jetty..a fort too (with light house & great church inside- unfortunately the church was closed due to Ester that day)....
In a nutshell, if you would like to enjoy beach, sunset and relax with your family...this is not a preferrable place....prefer diu instead

Hotel Ocean Panorama is located best place at Devka Beach with very cool and silent atmosphere. In the night hotel looks like new bride with ultimate make up of ligheting.
The interior of room is bold n beautiful. Food and service are up to mark.
Overall you can enjoy to your almost best level in Ocean Panorama.

For more than 1000 rupees a night, Ocean Panorama was a disappointment. Strictly utilitarian in approach with basic budget rooms. The bathrooms were worse. While one was broken and dirty, another had a transparent glass wall! However, the location was decent, with the Devka beach next door. But if you only consider the nice resorts dotting that road, you can't help but wish you'd made a better choice!
