“Won't stay there again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2011

We arrived early evening and was given the room we reserved, the only chair in the room was about to fall apart and could not be used and the table was about to fall apart also. Using the shower the shower knobs leaked constantly and the shower curtian was moldy. The air conditioner would not stay on and the room was hot. I don't know what the others that wrote reviews were given for rooms, but we has one that will stick in our minds for a long time as not wanting to come back here again. After traveling all day we just wanted a nice comfortable room to stay in and the beds were hard. They had internet if you wanted to pay for it.

Our room was decent-sized and mostly clean; the floor edges obviously had not been vacuumed for a long time. When we arrived, there were only two sets of towels for the four of us, and the toilet paper was the absolute last of the roll. Towels were provided as soon as I asked, but the TP had to wait until an employee returned from the store...and then go back to buy some. The price for the room was great, it didn't smell bad, people working there were very pleasant. We would stay there again...and would bring our own TP.

Alamogordo was a one-night stopover between beautiful vacation rentals in Bisbee, Arizona and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Wanting to feel just a bit virtuous, I chose the Satellite. This allowed me to be frugal and validate my egalitarianism. For $44 and taxes, you'll get a basic room with a fridge and microwave. The motel is clean and not in a state of disrepair. Be aware, though, that many of the guests are enjoying extended stays. There was a crew of guys in trucks with Wisconsin plates who appeared to be in town for a job - the motel offers weekly rates. Expect a low-end apartment complex vibe, with BBQs in the parking lot, a little bass from a neighbor's sound system and outdoor socializing in the evening. I was a little uneasy about leaving my computer in the room while we spent the afternoon at White Sands, but I probably needn't have been. Wifi was reliable and reasonably fast. Laundry room available. Pool looked decent. There's a sign in the lobby offering free access to a local gym. We skipped the complimentary breakfast in favor of the local Waffle House (big sign - says "Waffle House") right next door to Denny's. I can't honestly recommend this hotel, but I did feel as though I got my money's worth. If you're budget-minded, checking in late and checking out early, you could do much, much worse.

Excellent value for your money. For less that 50 dollar you get a king bed, nice breakfast and friendly athmosphere. Everything worked fine (pool was out of service, but it was too cold for a dip anyway). Only disadvantage: hard to keep the sand out, because we found some on the tables and tv. But overall good budget place to stay.

My husband and I stayed at this motel for three weeks while we waited to close on a home. Two adults, two children, one dog, no problems. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It is on the main drag in town, but so is everything else in this little town. There is a small laundry room, primitive but working. Our room was cleaned nicely every day and coffee and "gas station" style cappuccino machine are in the front office along with cereal. We just loved this place and the people running it. The rates were unbeatable and there was a Caliches custard right across the street! Who could ask for anything more? By the way, they were more than welcoming to our hyper, medium-sized dog and charged minimally for her compared to the other hotel giants on the same road.

  • Liked — cleanliness of room, helpful staff
  • Disliked — toiletries (budget-line, so bring your own)

Yup - a budget motel. Nothing special, but comfortable; hot water; bath; good wireless signal; clean; cheap; friendly staff. I suppose I've got used to staying in motels near railway lines, so found the reasonably distant sirens through the night almost comforting. Would have no qualms staying here again, tho' I might try somewhere else just for variety.

  • Liked — cheap; no hassles.
  • Disliked — beyond walking distance to downtown bars/restaurants

After driving from Carlsbad, we checked in at about 10 p.m. local time. Check in was easy and found our way to our room. The room was okay and definitely no frills. The room was clean however the room is located on the main street through town and there was some street and train noise.

There was an area for cold cereal, juice, toast, and coffee which we were able to bring back to our room. We had asked for extra towels and it was provided to us with no problem other than finding the cleaning person. The motel was a good value for the price but it is definitely a budget motel.
