“Insufficient Elevators for such a big hotel”

Four Points at Vizag, India has been such a disappointment by all standards to any other SPG hotel that I have stayed in the past. The overall looks of the Hotel is fine, but the quality is not to the "International standards" which the Hotel claims. There is no service whenever you request for one. There was nothing from the menu that could be ordered as Room Service except some soups and Starters. When we asked for some stationery, there was no response and had to yell at the front desk to get it. The staff needs to be trained on their etiquettes and hospitality. They don’t know how to say no. When I requested for a complimentary Internet Access, they refused it which is okay, but the way it was communicated to me was demeaning

ABOVE ALL, the biggest LACKING factor in this Hotel is the number of Elevators. There are just TWO SMALL Elevators for the entire Hotel. Also, when these were full all the time, I tried to search for the stairs when I couldn't find one. After some serious search, the only stairs that were available were the fire exit/service stairs that the Staff and Maintenance people would use. The reason why I stress so much on this is because the day I stayed Four Points at Vizag was the day where a Wedding Reception took place. Since Indian weddings have a lot of guests, the elevators were completely occupied and I was staying the 3rd Floor wanting to come down. I was waiting for the lifts to stop at my level for more than 30 minutes chatting with my family, but it was either full or would never stop at 3rd Floor. This lead to a lot of impatience when we finally got into one of the elevators. As a result, one of the guests got into an argument with my family members and it ended up in yelling and a fist fight at the Hotel. This was totally a harrowing experience. I have never seen such level of barbarism, uncouth and uncivilised behaviour in a star hotel

The MOST annoying part that has made me to write this review was when Hotel Management refused to accept their lack of facilities. They are absolutely irresponsible for being negligent on their part. There was no dedicated person to operate the elevators when the marriage was happening. They never organised the usage of lift. They did not monitor the traffic in the Hotel when there was an event happening. Also, when I was giving a feedback, they were justifying that they were right.

Except one person in the staff who was courteous, none of them were empathising to our situation. With a ruined leisure trip I returned back home from that horrible trip

This hotel is by far from any Sheraton standards and definitely not even close to SPG standards

I've visited this hotel earlier and see marked improvement from my last visit around 1 month back. I can see Front Desk smiling and greeting and can feel the real International hotel has come up in Vizag.The rooms are spacious and neat. Keep it up !

stay was good.
restaurants ambience was awesome.
waves is the perfect largest lounge bar.
first pan-asian restaurant in andhra pradesh.
coffee shop is a nice place to chill out with friends. Nice gym with massage service & swimming pool.

it was an awesome place to stay, with good ambience authenticity and hygiene, this provided us great security and comfort, we are very happy to spend our time in such a good environment. inspite of the money they charge its good to spend on what is worthy, with a hygene food and comfort ambience it made us feel secure to home

Great hotel. Buffet spread very good. Service is prompt. Nice gym with massage service & swimming pool. Only negative experience - during checkout I told them I had consumed a packet of snacks for which the filled in consumption slip was not picked up by housekeeping the previous day. When I got the invoice print it showed two packets consumed on the same day which I pointed out was not possible because only one is in stock per day. They investigated this for 15 minutes only to discover that housekeeping had already punched one consumption but forgot to collect the filled in slip. Secondly the invoice showed some charity donation in the bill which I told them I never approved - to which I was told that this is informed to guests at the time of check in. I asked them to reverse this as I was not told in advance. So other than billing delays and disputes hotel was pretty good.

Pros: Stayed at this place in July, 2012. What stands out is the courteousness. The staff were wiling to go the extra mile to provide good service.

Cons: Location of the hotel is not the best in Vizag, as there are other properties near the beach.

Again the staff in the hotel were so friendly that I would prefer this hotel over the others.

I have stayed at a couple four points in Thailand and pune and the vizag property is not even close

The best part was the SPG upgrade that's got and the story ended there, allow me to give you my view-

A. The restaurants ( on the ground floor) serves decent buffer breakfast but the dinner is nothing to write home about.
B. I tries the a la carte one night and the buffet for dinner on one and both were equally bad
C. The food at dinner is quite pathetic, ordered a tomato soup and it was a warm paste of sweet tomato ketchup
D. Ord the chefs special mezzo platter and they do not have even the basic sumac spice?????? One wonders if that is what's Spl about a mezze platter
E. the old coffe in the morning breakfast had plastic clippings init..
F. The waffle inthemorningwas rubbery and just not a waffle
G. The taxi service in the hotel is very expensive
H. If you ask the reception to call a street taxi or an ordinary cab, they would not oblige
I. When i Checked in I was told by the receptionist that's have two days of free Internet with my hotels.com booking but later I was billed for the Internet
J. The bathroom has cracked tiles and the area near the commode is very patchy
K. Overall not a great experience at least not befitting a four points property, the food really needs to be looked into

What was good
A. The water quality in the swimming pool is really good
B. swimming pool staffs very helpful and kind
C. The bar tender on the top floor lounge is excellent
D. The small coffe shop on the ground floor is good quality
