“Ok Ok. Not a star hotel feeling.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

hotel was ok. they hav a disco at top floor which play music till midnight which makes it very hard to get a good sleep.
Also dont rely on their wifi. it has a lot of glitches. bringing your own dongle is a better idea.

Room Tip: dont rely on their wifi. bringing your own dongle is a better idea.

We stayed at the hotel in two intervals of 2 nights and one night respectively. My first experience was very not at all satisfactory. During my first stay we were three people sharing the room. After the first night the extra bed broke and on the next day the housekeeping put a mattress on the floor and told us to "adjust". After giving a piece of my mind the duty manager came and made arrangements. Next day when we ordered room service, they gave us a chicken item complimentary without mentioning it was non-veg when the entire food ordered was jain (without onion and garlic). My second stay was alone and very comfortable. I had no issues with any service. The hotel is a nice option for anyone looking for a hotel in Jubilee Hills. The most irritating part of the hotel was the AC which got reconfigured whenever the guest would leave the room.

I recently had five nights at the Daspalla on a business trip to Hyderabad, and my impression is mixed. It was safe, clean, and friendly. The breakfasts were very good with a nice variety of Indian and western food. The pool was too short for swimming laps, but the "fitness center", located in two converted rooms, had a stair-master, two bikes, a treadmill, and weights. My problems were twofold. (1) The power went off every hour or two; and whenever it did, the thermostat would reset, forgetting its cool setting, with the result that the air conditioning would go off and the room start to heat up. (2) The front desk clerks were, at best, a mixed bag. Two were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful; the rest, while friendly, were essentially useless when it came to the issue of free wifi in the room. I could get the wifi for my laptop, but when it came to getting the wifi for an second device - my iPhone - the "system" wouldn't work. I needed a solution to the problem, but none of the desk clerks could work the issue, and I did not have the time or patience to work with them to do so, and the IT folks couldn't solve the problem. Other than these two issues, it was OK.

I enjoyed the food, staff, and room during my 10 day business stay at this hotel. Everyone was very nice; the food very good, especially the buffet, and all staff helpful and nice, and the rooms quite clean and comfortable.

However, there is a very popular disco/pub called "Over the Moon" on the 8th floor of the hotel. The disco starts a loud thumping beat around 7pm and continues until closing time, which is around 1230am-1am on weeknights and later on weekends. If you are anywhere near the 8th floor (I was on the 5th floor), and if you are bothered by a thumping sound that penetrates your head and heart, then you should avoid of this hotel. Apparently, the hotel feels money made at Over the Moon is worth the potential loss of business from those who like to sleep. Indeed, most of the others at the hotel appeared to be party-goers, so I guess they were not too bothered. In contrast, I was on business so needed some sleep. It was difficult to fall asleep before 1am each night, due to the thumping.

I also note they hotel restaurants, with their good food, maintain a rather unpleasant electronic background music that borders on the insane. It serves to keep the energy in the restaurant at a slight frenetic pace. This music contrasts to the more suitable classical Indian playing in the hotel lobby. I wonder why the owners feel this sort of music is something that enhances the experience of the eater. It certainly bothered me.

Another negative concerns the location, which made pedestrian activities very inconvenient. I recognize that Indian cities are not known for their pedestrian friendliness. But this hotel, being stuck on a hill away from any restaurants or stores, added to the isolation.

Another negative was the internet, which was very sporadic in its speed. It seemed to get easily overloaded. Sometimes the wired ethernet was faster, and sometimes the wifi was faster. Oftentimes both were dead slow.

Room Tip: Rooms nearer to the floor, away from the pub/disco, are quieter. But the disco thumping generally pe...

Went to hotel before check in time but immediately they accommodated us that too in an upgraded room. Staff was very polite and attentive. Food was excellent and resonably priced. Toiletries were excellent. Their breakfast was awsome.

Room Tip: Dont miss break fast. Its too good.

Check in process was not smooth had to wait more than 20 mints, room was not ready even after that. It took almost an hour to get into the room in spite of confirmed reservation with clear trip. Could hear notice from wash room when it is engaged, over all not a great experience.
