Hyderabad tries its best to impress people with this place by Hussain Sagar Lake. It opens at 7:30 in the morning, but only Cafe Coffee Day and Minerva Coffee House were serving anything when we went there at 8:30 a.m. There are a lot of other eateries too, and by around 4 in the afternoon, everything's up and running.
What you can do if you are romantically inclined is to sit for endless hours beside the lake, talking or looking into each others' eyes. If you have children, there are plenty of rides for them, of the kind where you put a token into a slot, place your kid atop a bright green caterpillar, a pink car, a blue elephant or such-like fibreglass objects, and then watch as your kid enjoys the stationary jiggle. A much better activity is for kids to play Snakes and Ladders on the floor tiles. Unfortunately, it's placed right at the entrance, making it impossible to use when the place becomes crowded. In the evenings, you can take a boat ride to the Buddha Statue in the middle of the lake.
If you're feeling peckish, you can eat anything from kababs, dosas, noodles to cotton candy, gelatos, popcorn, and many other treats in between. Depends entirely on your age, the time of day, and how much you want to spend.
Warning: Do NOT visit this place during the summer. The smell from Hussain Sagar Lake owing to the eutrophication is TERRIBLE.
