“Scenic location, decent hotel and okay food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

Travel and commute costs spike up while staying at the hotel since it is 10kms from the city. The costs are compensated by a lovely lobby, well maintained garden and sea view. Thanks to Tsunami there is very little of the beach left even in low tide however there is a good arrangement for seating along the coconut tree lined promenade.

The room that we stayed in was fresh and well maintained with space for kids. Room service was prompt and overall no complaints on the level of cleanliness.

The one star less is on account of the food, which while not terrible was not great. We were kept nudging to eat buffet despite our insistence for a la carte, of course eventually they gave us what we wanted. The food was okay but not great and at that price point one expects both show and substance and if not both at least substance. Apart from this the stay was memorable.

The hotel is very well located next to a beach. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a balcony attached to every room overlooking the sea. The restaurant serves good food with a very wide variety specially the breakfast buffet has such a wide variety that is rarely seen in other good hotels. They are however reluctant to serve 'a la carte to guests during dinner time if buffet has been laid out. They make it quite apparent by telling you that it will take forty minutes to serve the food if you order it at the time of buffet as their kitchen is occupied, so it is highly advisable to order your dinner in advance if you do not like the buffet menu.
The housekeeping is particularly below standard. When we checked in there were no towels in the bathrooms and had to wait for half an hour before they were given to us. Hand towels were not given at all.
The corner rooms (No.217,216) are next to a construction site and have a central exhaust fan above them which makes a loud noise every morning so make sure that you are not put up in these rooms. The hotel and the food overall are good but it seems that the staff gets overwhelmed during the tourist season and the quality of service deteriorates.

Room Tip: avoid rooms 217, 216 and those below them.

The hotel is good but the location is the only negative considering 8 Kms from the city and the commutation from Hotel to the city is an issue. Its attached to a small beach which is good to be around. Overall experience was average & not great.

Room Tip: Do not take corner rooms - 210, 211, 208,209 as these will block the view of the beach.

I was on an official visit to Port Blair, Andamans on 08 December 2012 and have stayed at the Peerless Hotel at Cobyn's Cove. The setting is splendid as you are right on the ocean. The property has its own beach to boast and the peace and tranquility that one needs. The staff is very professional and the cuisine is good. The best is that one should go for the 3 nights package that the hotel offers. The rooms are clean, spacious and has a balcony to boast. One must not miss the sunrise and sunset whilst staying at the hotel. I loved the stay. Regards.

Room Tip: Honeymooners may like to avail rooms on ground floor.

Andaman , our final frontier in India , ws recently conquered last week. We booked the Peerless Sarovar Portico Resort in Portblair & Barefoot in Havelock for our stay through 99andaman.com. We got a budget couple package for 5 days and 4 nights from the site and also a complimentary cab for sight seeing, ferries etc across the islands.

We reached the resort at around noon (Chennai Flight delayed fr an hour or so) ,picked by Car and were immediately directed to our rooms. The rooms were newly refurbished and decently large at around 40 sqmt. The walls sometimes created a strange echo if filled with many people and the cacophony occasionally reached unbearable proportions given the increasing splurge of people. Fast Internet present at the hotel was an add-on and it was provided at cost and the speeds varied drastically over our stay. The toiletries in the bath were limited and the hotel could do with a revision of these.

The garden outside the reception area was nice and well maintained. The garden led to the hotel beach which was kept relatively secluded from the main beach. This though increased the privacy of the same but the private beach looked quite gloomy even by Port Blair standards. Hordes of coconut and palm trees surrounding the resort were beautiful and added that tropical feeling to the view. The resort authorities gave us fresh tender coconuts throughout our stay.

Though the price was at a premium we relished them as it was quite different from what we used to have back home in Chennai.

The food was so-so at the restaurant without being special. The sea food buffet on alternate days provided a pleasant change in tastes and we would have liked increased frequency of the same.

Barefoot ws our next stay which I shall be writing about when I get time , overall a good, satisfying tour. I have noted down the feedback in ur guest Book

Regards
