“Good enough but not the best one..............”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

The hotel at portblair was good enough for stay and enjoying provided if u have sea view rooms at the higher floor. The complementary breakfast provided by the hotel is full of varieties and undoubtedly admirable. The restaurant of the hotel at both the places at portblair and at havelock is not good enough. But the some dishes i.e. fish curry, chicken kadhai, lauki ka halwa are good. The itinery proposed to me by the hotel management at the time of finalising the deal was not covering the tour of all places in Portblair i.e. Chidiya tapu and Kala pathar beach at Havelock as I was also unaware abut the place I could not deal properly with the hotel and when I demanded to the hotel management after arrival at protblair and coming to know about the places, they charged Rs.1300 for chidiya tapu and denied for the other one. At Havelock the hotel management could not arrange even a bike/scooty on hire basis which we had to arrange ourselves. At havelock the hotel had no intercom and roomservice (however it generally not requires as water bottles and electric cattle along with tea bags are already provided in the room). The cost of laundry services managed by the hotel are very high. However the location of the hotel at both the places is very convinient for the tourists. Be cautious while finalising the itiniery regarding coverage of all the important palces to visit. At havelock, hire scooty for enjoying the place and beauty of beaches. Finally last but not the least.......Don't expect too much from the hotel management............

Room Tip: Choose Charlet rooms at havelock as there is no much difference with Andman Lagoons and Andman Villa...

They have neat and clean rooms. Better than average interiors. The fittings in the bathroom as well as room are very good too.
Their restaurant had a little laid back waiters and were very crude in their communication. But cook made good food so was manageable.
We stayed here only for an overnight as we were headed mainly to havelock (best part of andamans) the next morning.
We paid a visit to the top floor open to sky lounge and the ambiance there was pretty cool. Nice place to hang out at night with nice sea breeze coming along.

Room Tip: Try taking a room on higher floor as it will give a better view of the sea. :)

i had gone to sea shell with my 1yr 2months baby for dinner. as my baby was sleeping i request a sofa chair so that i can put him to sleep. but they insisted that i should take a single chair.when i asked for their manager they introduced me to him whose name was Mr Subhaiah. when i told him that they cannot be so rude and unpolite, he asked me to go to some other hotel so i left for another hotel where the staff i found was very helpful n polite. i even wrote in SEA SHELL complain register about this incident but no action was taken. infact when i again called the hotel people to enquire about there action their MD. Dr Poonam also acted rude n said that everybody praises her staff and they dont encourage people with young kids in their restaurant.so they cant b wrong. so hats off to them. in short it seems so that its not a CHILD FRIENDLY HOTEL......

Room Tip: there are other eating joints in port blair where food quality and price are better

We were there for our honeymoon last November. The Lobby appears to be grand so u expect the room to be , but its not so spacious. View from the room was not so great. We were on a package so most of it was taken care by the travel agents. The staff was extremely helpful. All the Public areas are very tastefully decoratedexcept the dinner dining hall which appeared to be a staff cafeteria. Food was splendid.

Room Tip: Sea facing room on a higher floor.

We stayed for 3 nights at SeaShell Portblair and didnot regret our decision. We had other options like Sinclairs Bay but chose this one based on previous reviews.
Its a decent property located on a hill right next to Fortune Bay resort. Our booking was through GoAndaman Holidays agent and we chose the top floor deluxe sea view rooms. The rooms are spacious with all standard amenities like TV, AC, kettle, a small fridge, hair dryer etc. There was a lady to explain us all the amenities available and the usage of the same. The balcony opened to a great sea view where we could see the magroves, ships sailing and light house too.
The hotel is just a 5min drive from the airport and the jetty too (to visit ross/northbay islands). Overall PortBlair is a small place and hence every location is kinda near by.
The only concern we had is regarding the food. It was not that great and pricy too. The breakfast spread was a disappointment looking at the standard and cost of the hotel . Everyday the menu was more or less the same with breads, eggs (omlettes/bolied), one stuffed paratha(aloo/gobi ), a south indian dish (uttapam, idli, vada), the same muffin daily and bananas as fruits.
Highlight of the hotel is a roof top lounge bar - Amaya with excellent live music. The ambience over there is just awesome and the cool sea breeze along with soothing music truly lifts your moods. The food here is equally good and surprisingly much better than what you get at their own restaurant - Salt and Pepper. A visit to Amaya is must !!

Room Tip: Choose the 2nd floor rooms for a great sea view (304-308) are the best ones. Amaya - Lounge bar is...

Like another fellow traveller here, i booked this hotel on the internet after a lot of research 3 months in advance! However i was very dissapointed! First and foremost they have no co-ordination between their own staff. I arrived from sea shell havelock and i had their "all transfers" package, but, NOONE CAME TO PICK ME UP AT THE JETTY!!! they knew i was arriving that day but they could not call up their own chain of hotel to find out when i left!!!?? and when you will ask them online as to who is going to pick us up etc, you will be told to wait! And the staff will never accept their fault! where do i even start! We got only one towel in a double room! after the cleaning the foot mat was gone! the milk in the "free tea" tray was expired! The manager ever argued with me that all this is not possible!
they will say "you just have to gv us a call" yeah! ill keep calling u every 1 hr for smthing or the other! Their food is ordinary, bathrooms are not maintained well...rainshower will gv u water like droplets! Staff is sooooo not "hospitable"!!!
this was the worst part of my trip! the havelock hotel is wayy better than this one!
i would recommend you avoid this one!

It is a clean and a bit spacious hotel. Rooms are well done up, and spacious as well. Located in a peaceful surroundings. Food was very good. If you get a sea-facing room you will enjoy even more. Sea view to watch the cruises from the terrace was relaxing and breezy. Make sure to take a stroll in the evenings on the street up and down.
