“Very good value.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Las Luces Del Notre is a great restaurant and the prices can't be beat. Many tourists from Europe, Asia and the U.S. go there because it is friendly, they have a good library and the service is excellent. I live in the NYC area and the last time I was there the people at the table next to us were from NYC also.

“Don't judge the food by the building's appearance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

The restaurant installed in an old building does not appeal to any person walking down the street unless you drop inside and look at the menu. Like most of the construction of Tela, the building needs some TLC. In fact, I walked by 3 times before realizing that it was a respectable restaurant with a prolific menu of seafoods. Indeed, it's the only restaurant in Tela that offers so much variety in seafoods; of course it also has many other common western foods such as the popular hamburger and fries and salads. The sopa marinera, which is unique to Tela and the Honduras east coast, even comes in different sizes and choices. It may seem closed in but the waiter will install a fan just for your comfort or you can sit outside in the garden for a more exposed environment among the tropical plants and flowers. The prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent. Compared to 4 other restaurants in Tela, Las Luces del Norte offers the best sopa marinera. Buen provecho!

“Seafood and eat it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Simply the best seafood I have ever had at a fantastic price. The small paella could have fed 3 people! The shrimp soup was delicious and less filling. The battered fish tasted like it had just been caught. If you have a pina colada ask for less sugar in it (generally Hondurans seem to like things very sweet)

“Good fish soup, service problems”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

The seafood soup was excellent, and other dishes - fried fish, ceviche - were good to OK. But the service was really slow and erratic. Drinks took forever, and one member of out party didn’t get his meal until the other four of us were almost finished eating (with no explanation).
Maybe it was an off night, though the restaurant wasn’t busy, but I wouldn’t be in a rush to go back. The overall experience was OK at best, and who wants that on holidays?
