We usually go to Kololi Beach Club in The Gambia during January or February, but we have just been for two weeks this November. We found the climate at this time of year suited us better. We had one day of 38 degrees but the rest ranged from 42 to 50+- there were some humid evenings but the advantage of a decent pool temperature for early morning swims and waterpolo and being able to spend ages in the sea body boarding without getting frozen made that a minor inconvenience!
The Club's grounds and both inside and outsides of the villas were in a better state of repair than we have ever seen them, although the upkeep of the golf course was disappointing.
The staff were as helpful as ever and it was good to see them again....and to do battle with some of them at water polo!
The only real disappointment was the club house restaurant in the evening...if you ate there the food was well cooked as always by both Lamin and Little Lamin but there was no atmosphere, no wine list anymore and the entertainment not well attended. We missed some "old friendly faces" amongst the staff and all the usual chatter and banter we all enjoy so much.
We are already looking forward to our next visit and another turbo- recharge of our batteries!
