“Meal was great - slow service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

Our entree's and main's were the best of our trip to Tahiti. Service however was very slow. Were seated with only the wine list for a long period of time with no attention. Had to ask for a menu. But once the food came out - all was forgiven. Lovely!

“Lovely small gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

We recently stayed at the Manava Suite Resort and had lunch at the Vaitohi. We sat outside, under a trellis (they could use some overhead fans to move the air more). It was an elegant French restaurant with excellent service and food. We tried a fish dish and found it very tasty and creative - we were in awe! We did not have a drink, but had bubbly water and capucinos after and found it reasonably priced for what we received. They had "smoked salt" on the table, which I've never had before. In the evening it looks very beautiful, it doesn't have a view of the water - only of a garden in the hotel, but it is small and romantic.

“Very expensive, Good but not great food does not reflect the prices asked.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

We were expecting a lot. The Vaitohi restaurant looked impressive but failed to deliver to expectations.
Our meal here was reasonable but not special, with the exception of the prices.....they were exceptionally dear. We ate outside and were troubled by the available light, it was very poor and this contributed to us getting the wrong wine.

In a country that relies predominantly on English speaking tourists, you might expect good language skills from the staff. Not so here; Our waitress appeared to have little or no French and the French speaking waiter had very little English. My request, in French to the waitress for a bottle of Cote du Rhone Viognier confused her to say the least. I thought that I had got through to her but, aided by the very dark light level, we ended up getting a bottle of the cheaper Coteaux de L’Ardeche (Indication Géographique Protegée), much to my chagrin.

All in all the meal was not bad, but certainly not a stand out, and for the price it was only fair. You should know that there are alternative choices for eating here, other than in this expensive restaurant. Just up the road after dusk, Les Roulettes arrive. They are a Tahitian dining institution and these mobile dining cars arrive around six o’clock to offer a variety of good food options. For breakfast there is a supermarket just a little way up the road. It certainly beats the prices asked for breakfast in the hotel.

“Unique delicous items on the menu!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

My wife and I dined there. We shared an appetizer: it wasn't the goat cheese or the pine nuts that made it unique. Certainly it wasn't the mixed greens. Rather it was the goat cheese served warm inside what reminded me of wontons. Fabulous! My entree was a concoction of chevrettes (fresh water shrimp) inside dumplings with a light beef broth(I think) and some vegetables: Also fabulous. My desert was huge and although a very old dish in France was new to me Pofiteroles. They reminded me of creampuffs. What made them unique was a filling of ice cream made with Tahitian vanilla. The total for this dinner: 13260 French Polynesian francs. This is about $142 US dollars.

“What a delight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

We just popped ashore to grab some provisions and stopped for happy hour, which turned into dinner. The location is authentic, the service cultural and the food has a great local flavour to it. Had the mahi-mahi and few boeuf entrecotes with roquefort cheese sause. Just yum. The setting sun and large tankards of Hinano and local rum cocktails, just finished it off. A local must!
