“Awesome stay - wish it was longer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2010

What a fantastic resort. Having just spent 10 nights sailing Raiatea & Bora Bora it was an absolute joy to arrive here and our first words were "wow, this is nice!". In hindsight I would have booked at least another night here. The check in was great - took all of 2 minutes. We had a room with a kitchenette and fabulous views of the ocean & the little motu. At night we had the roar of the waves crashing on the reef. Very clean rooms & of a high standard & very comfy beds. We dined in the restaurant of which the service was great and the food really well presented and very nice. The infinity pool with the pool bar was the place to hangout during the day. A totally relaxing atmosphere and I would recommend this resort to anyone coming through - except stay more than 1 night. Resorts are not really our thing but 2 nights/3 days here would've been great.

We booked out honeymoon through McCoy Travel because a friend recommended them as they are experts in travel for this part of the world. For the time we were in Tahiti, they arranged for us to stay here. We arrived in the late evening in Papeete and we were only staying for one night before we were on to Moorea. The hotel check-in process was easy and our room was ready. It was a very unique room. The decor was authentic Polynesian art and it had a very modern feel to it. The bathroom was clean and it even had a kitchenette. If we were staying longer that would have been fun to utilize! Not that the food was lacking - it was great. We had breakfast included in our arrangements (thanks McCoy Travel!) and it was an amazing array of fruits, breads and eggs, pancakes, etc. A true blend of French and island fare. The bed was VERY comfortable and the grounds were well kept. If we had stayed longer, I would have loved to go swimming in the infinity pool, we just didn't have time! While we were there I think they were even doing a water aerobics class in the pool. During the morning, before our shuttle arrived to take us back to the airport, we went for a walk. Just down the block from the hotel is a little pier and an old bridge. My husband and I had fun just exploring and taking pictures - you always find the best pictures on those unplanned excursions! It was a nice place, and if we have another overnight layover in Tahiti again, we'll be sure and stay here!

Stayed here for one night for a stopover on our way to Bora Bora. Hotel was beautiful and modern. We stayed in a standard room, but if spending more than one night on Tahiti we would have probably stayed in a suite with a kitchen. The hotel has a beautiful view of Moorea and a really nice pool area.

Our stay at the Manava in November 2010 was wonderful. Although we did not have a room with a view, the grounds outside were well mancured and very pleasant to the eye. The infinity pool and its view of Moorea can not be equalled. The restaurant were we had our breakfast on an American plan had good foof and good variety. The bar staff were friendly informative when queried.

the Manava is an excellent hotel. very good rooms with outstanding beds, bathroom and kitchen. very clean. top drawer swimming pool.
the restaurant is superb if a little expensive (NZ$40+ for a main).
the hotel is very close to two supermarkets where the food is reasonably priced.
at night we would recommend the street food stalls only a few hundred metres from the hotel. big meals at fair prices.
the town of Papeete was interesting without offering much to do.
the 4 wheel tour into the centre of the island was worthwhile although it rained all day and the road was absolutely full of pot holes. impressive waterfalls to be seen.
I'd recommend 2-3 days in Papeete followed by 6-7 on an island. we stayed 3 nights at Moorea which was outstanding, considerably cleaner than Papeete and a beautiful island.

We stayed two nights at the Manava and loved it. The resort is modern with Polynesian flair. We stayed in a Lagoon Suite which was quite spacious. It included a small kitchen, although we didn’t use it a lot, it was convenient. Make sure to get a lagoon room which faces the pool/ocean along with an incredible view of Moorea. The balcony is large, had a table, and was secluded from your neighbors. The balcony was my favorite feature of the room as we would sit out at night, or early morning just absorbing the view. The room was clean, but I did think certain things could be cleaner. The tiki statue in the bathroom had a little soap on it. It really wasn’t a big deal as everything was clean.

We found the staff to be very friendly. There was a screw up in the hotel shuttle to Papeete. I guess a couple forgot to include their kids in the reservations (dah!), and there was no room for us. The staff felt bad and recommended us to take the bus to town. This was very easy, less expensive ($2 per person), and a great experience. After returning from Papeete, the staff asked how our day was. I would recommend taking a day and exploring downtown - we enjoyed crepes at a cute French café called “Yummy”, and it was Yummy. We loved the Market (a must) and selected and purchased a pearl from the “Tahiti Pearl Market”. We enjoyed dinner at the roulettes (another must) just a short walk from the hotel. Unfortunately we didn’t eat any meals at the hotel, as we didn’t have enough time and it just so happened that we ate outside the resort.

The infinity pool is amazing which such gorgeous views! We enjoyed hanging out at the pool, and the swim up bar. The resort grounds are beautiful and at night they light up the torches. The resort seemed busy, but yet it was so quiet at night -very peaceful and relaxing.

Most people stay in Tahiti one night when visiting these islands and I think they are missing out on a lot. Papeette is well worth visiting, I would do this at the beginning of your trip. We did Tahiti 2 nights, Moorea 3 nights, and Bora Bora 4 nights. The order and the duration was PERFECT.

I would definitely stay in the hotel again, (and any other of it’s sisters Pearl Resorts)
