“Family Meet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

My brother and his partner met my husband and I halfway between Ft. Collins Co. and Albuquerque. We met at Abiquiu Inn in Abiquiu. We have been there many times but in the Inn. It was very cozy and quaint for two couples. Plenty of space to sit and talk, kitchen table, coffee to watch movie, or sit on porch. There several things to see within a 10 mile radius. Even though it was near the highway, if you get a cottage in the back it is very quiet. The staff was helpful at least to get more firewood, because we had everything we needed. If you want food for your kitchen, Bode's is the only nearby grocery and they are a more tourist spot. The beds were comfortable, and plenty of linens, with extras. We had a good visit and good time.

Room Tip: Get off the highway and into the back of property.

We wanted to see Georgia O'Keeffe's home and Ghost Ranch where she painted. We were so pleasantly surprised by how nice the Abiquiu Inn was. We had a darling two-bedroom casita complete with a full kitchen, wood-burning stove and dining area for a very reasonable price. The restaurant at the hotel had a broad menu of Mexican and American dishes and had a nice, relaxing ambiance. The tours picked up at the hotel. The one-hour tours are a bit pricey -- $35 during the week and $45 on weekends -- but the house and the views are worth seeing. Ghost Ranch 14 miles away has some of the most spectacular scenery in the country.

Room Tip: Comfortable 2/1 casita, restaurant service slow.

Room Tip: Regular guest rooms are available for about $90, but for a little more, the casitas are delightful.

My husband and I just celebrated our 25th anniversary at the Abiquiu Inn and they made it very special. This was our 5th time staying at the inn and each time has been great. This time they upgraded us to one of their casitas when they found out it was our anniversary. We have stayed in their casitas and their regular rooms and they are all cozy, clean and inviting. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and the next morning sat on the porch and had breakfast. Both meals were delicious, service was wonderful and happy and the prices were low for the quality. There are many activities in the area from art galleries, to a beautiful lake 10 minutes away great for water sports and fishing, to just sitting in one of the many areas around the inn's property and watching the scenery.

Room Tip: The Casitas in the back of the property have their own screened in porches and fireplaces and are ve...

We figured we were a captive audience, staying at the only inn near Georgia O'Keeffe's home and ranch, and on a main road. Boy, were we wrong! The inn is charming, with many Southwestern touches. Our room had a patio with a fountain and lots of greenery. Bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept on. Meals are not included but are very reasonable and delicious. There is a shop with nontacky, lovely art, books, clothing and jewelry. Rather than drive to and from Santa Fe on a day trip to see O'Keeffe's places, do yourself a favor and spend a night here. You'll be glad you did.

Although we did not spend a night (planning to return to do so in the future) had a delicious and lovely lunch outside with great service. Staff were friendly and helpful by giving us a tour of the guest rooms and directions to reach Ghost Ranch. Will definitely return.

My dad and I chose Abiquiu Inn so that we could have the comfort of a two bedroom casita while attending a Watercolor retreat at Ghost Ranch up the road. While we found the beds very comfortable and the atmosphere charming, it seemed that each night we returned to the Inn we were lacking in basic necessities: no soap in the shower, robes and bathmats not replaced, nor cups or coffee. After having decided to splurge on Abiquiu Inn at over $200 a night specifically to have a more comfortable stay, we were dissappointed to say the least. Also the kitchen was not at all fully equiped- we had one glass for drinking and a ragtag assortment of pans. No stove or oven, just a hotplate. After walking over to the office to ask for soap, tiwels, robes and coffee, a friendly staff apologized and most of those items were brought over that evening. When we checked in we asked for a map of the area and recieved a xerox so illegible It was embarrassing. The place has a lot of potential but some management problem prevents successfull hospitality, as the maidservice was far below that I've experienced in a Motel 6.
