“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

We recently spent 8 amazing nights for a friends wedding in May. This was our 2nd trip to Fiji and the Volivoli experience was awesome. We stayed in a studio vale which had breath taking views. We had 3 Adults and 1 child and found this room well appointed. Rooms had everything we needed clean and serviced everyday. Volivoli has as much has you want to do or as little as you want to do. They have a wide range of activities snorkeling , fishing , kayaking beautiful white sandy beach, best massages just to mention a few. Our 9 year old daughter loved the snorkeling out on the reef. Bar and restaurant over looks the large inviting pool which we spend a good amount of time in. Food was great, beer was icey cold and the brilliant bar staff Soni and Knox knocked out a great G & T. Geraldine and all the staff looked after us all so well always smiling and happy. Nick and Steve thanks for a wonderful memorable week, you guys are great hosts and have a amazing place there at Volivoli beach. We will be back. Hunter Vanessa Logan & Daisy

Thank you for your review of Volivoli Beach Resort. It was a real pleasure to meet you and host your family at the resort. The Fijian people (Including our staff) are such naturally friendly people they really do make Fiji the special country that it is.

Thank you for all your review points and we all look forward to your return!

Kind regards

My partner and two children (aged 13 and 7) stayed at VoliVoli Beach Resort during May 2013 nights. We did a drive around Viti Levu and the reviews for the resort were great so we decided to book it. It's not a cheap place to stay, FJD510 per night.
It was raining during the time we stayed there so that made it less than amazing.
It took us about 3 hours to drive from Denarau to VoliVoli in our hire car. We missed the first turn off into the resort (the sign was broken). The second turn off into the resort the sign is a bit confusing with the Wanunavu Resort. Hence, we drove for 10 minutes and then turned around and came back to the first turn off with the broken sign. It took over 20 minutes to get to the resort on a road that is in desperate need of repair.
After checking in (in the rain), we had to carry our bags to our Ocean View Vale Room. The view is absolutely STUNNING (even in the rain).
Our room consisted of 1 queen size bed, 1 L-shaped (hard) lounge that we had to make up as beds (we weren't impressed).
The kitchen is well equipped, can't complain there. Except that the cutlery was rusty and not clean. The plates and bowls were not clean either. The resort charge you a fee if you don't clean up after yourself after you leave. Fair enough except we didn't have clean cooking and eating utensils to start with! If the resort clean up at least there is a standard of hygiene that would be adhered to.
We had two white bath towels in the room and given an extra two towels (which were beach towels) to use as bath towels. Why?
We think the hot water is run on solar power. Because of the rain we had mostly cold showers. It was actually quite cool when we stayed so it would have been nice to have at least a warm shower.
The food was nothing to get excited about. Standard fare.
The staff around the resort appeared disinterested.
I have been to Fiji numerous times over the last 30 years, our family has Fijian friends that live in Australia that we socialise with. We are aware of the culture, the poverty, the way Fijians live. Our expectations are not high. We love Fiji for it's atmosphere and people. All of us were disappointed at our short stay.
I don't think we would return again.
FYI, the location and views are stunning and amazing. If it wasn't for those redeeming features, our trip would have been wasted.

Room Tip: Our ocean view room had wonderful views.

Bula Vinaka,

Thank you for your review, All feedback is welcome both positive and in this case some of the negative points were brought to light.

It seems there were a few things that did not go well on the trip to the resort which may have resulted in a poor experience before even arriving. Points such as:

The damaged road sign: This was torn in Cyclone Evan in late december so my apologies there however I can confirm that the sign is fixed now.

Taking your own bags to your room: Once again the rain would not have helped although within the next week we will open our new reception with covered portico and at the same stage incorporate a full time porta to ensure guests have a pleasant check in experience at Volivoli.

Points while at the resort:

Un friendly Staff: I am very surprised and can only apologize for us having dropped the ball.

Bath towels: This really took me off guard as we do not have any white towels at the resort, Our bath towels are blue and if a reservation is made for 2 a 2 c there should be 4 towels in the room. Once again my apologies if we did not supply correct number of towels.

Hot water: The hot water is supplied on Solar power however all the rooms have an independent unit with a electric boost that needs to be switched on manually if there has been a couple of days without sun. My apologies for our cleaners must not have switched the booster on which generates hot water within minutes.

Cutlery: I will follow up with housekeeping to ensure this does not happen again.

I really am disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay as a "Drive around Viti Levy" is a great way to experience our lovely Island. Thank you for your points which will be addresses quickly unfortunately most points could have been remedied if they were raised at the time to ensure a enjoyable stay.

I hope that you are able to return to Volivoli and experience our resort for what it truly is.

Kind regards

Nick Darling

An amazing location, Volivoli is a great Fiji experience and offers something for everyone. This was my third trip to Fiji and first time I've stayed at a resort on the mainland rather than the islands. It didn't miss a beat. For those who just want to chill out and catch some rays there's a fantastic pool with a pool bar and beach area where you can relax in hammocks. For the more adventurous there are great scuba diving opportunities and game fishing trips. You can also experience the real Fiji with a trip to a local village. The owners and staff were fantastic, very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and made everything easy for us. All up - one week just wasn't long enough! I can't wait to go back one day and highly recommend this resort.

Room Tip: Offers different types of rooms from dorms for backpackers to more luxurious villa's with great...

Bula Vinaka,

Thank you very much for your kind review of Volivoli Beach Resort.

Volivoli really is a place that can offer you a very relaxed experience spending your days relaxing with a good book poolside or simply while the afternoon away swinging in the breeze beachside. For the more energetic traveller the activities are all available from the resort.

Thank you once again for your review.

Kind regards

What a holiday! We’ve just returned from Fiji and we’re already missing our Volivoli family!
Volivoli offered everything that is promised about Fiji, without the kitschy tourist offerings (I got those at the airport!).
We’ve experienced Plantation Island, Castaway, Lomani and Sofitel Fiji and whilst we’ve always had a great time something was lacking. With three under the age of 5 we didn’t want to be stressed with multiple land and sea transfers, but also wanted the beauty of snorkelling at our doorstep, fishing, diving and the welcoming Fijian culture. So we were greeted with big Fijian smiles at the airport, a quick side-trip to a supermarket for provisions and we then had the chance to pass through a number of tiny Fijian villages direct to Volivoli. Simple.
Within hours all of the staff knew our kids names, had them saying bula and were happy to entertain or give us all the chance to unwind. We split our time between poolside or the sandy beach (2 min walk between each), where we could collect starfish shells, lay in the hammocks or with the help of the staff build fish traps.
Thanks Nick and your team – I’ve taken vaka malua (take your time) to a whole new level :)

Bula Vinaka,

Thank you very much for your kind review of Volivoli Beach Resort. Thank you for pointing out the ease of getting to the resort, It really is as easy as turning left out of the airport and enjoying the scenic 2 and half hour journey in our brand new private 4 x 4 vehicles.

Vaka Malua is a fantastic phrase much the same as seqa na leqa (pronounced sanga na langa which means no worries)

To this day it astounds me how our wonderful staff have the ability to remember names and make friends so quickly...I guess that is part of the BULA magic Fiji and Fijians are so famous for.

Thank you once again.

Kind regards

What an amazing family holiday location. A safe, friendly environment with Staff that would bend over backwards for you. An amazing swimming beach, views and rooms.
A perfect place to take a young family on holiday with a great balance of activities for the big kids and relax time for Mum. I would highly recommend this resort.

I recently got married at volivoli resort and cannot begin to tell you how amazing it was. The location is perfect, its a beautiful drive up the top of the mainland to the 'real' fiji.
Once you get there you are blown away by the views, the staff and owners openly welcome you to their little spot of paradise, the food is fantastic (none of this buffet rubbish where the feed u left overs), the accomodation rooms are perfect and the pool, the beach, the snorkling and the diving are also as you would imagine.
If you are looking for a truely magical place to get married or spend a week relaxing, ii couldnt recommend volivoli highly enough.
We will definately be back there soon!

VoliVoli is chilled out, lad back and an amazing. It encompasses everything which is great about the Northern part of Fiji. I have been to Fiji's South 4 times previously and enjoyed this time the best due to the relaxed nature I did not feel I had to be on the go the whole time. The staff were amazing, so much room for activities, pool, food and beaverages were outstanding.

Cheers
Steve and the Volivoli staff
