“Salt Lake Lodge Scrumptious Holiday For The Soul”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2008

There is no quandry on whether to stay at Salt Lake Lodge - YOU MUST JUST DO IT - if you are looking for a holiday for the mind and soul this is the place, if you are looking for nature, comfort for the body without being too naughty to the environment, this is the place, IT IS SPOTLESSLY clean, my partner caught a Walu - over 40 pounder, he is so happy. For me fishing is so BORING, but I was happy with the birdsong, sounds, sun, after the rain its glorious again, we are well travelled people but we didnt leave this place, why bother, we were laying in paradise. Do take plenty of mosquito repellant and good sub block. The self catering kitchen is so well equipped and there is salt and pepper, sugar and the basics there, just take goodies from the Supermarket in town, go and chill and enjoy. Sonja, Andrew and Ruby - wonderful hosts, but they are not part of your stay if you want solitude, so when I say hosts, you are not bothered at all, just they live close by and if you need anything they are there to ask, and always with a smile, and a chocolate cake if you are lucky - actually as Id read about Ruby's cooking I was cheeky enough to ask, oh and the crunchy cakes too .... perhaps commission her to do some of her legendary baking..... GREAT marine life at your feet! SCRUMPIOUS is the word which would cover our stay Caron (pus a bit of weight, and Doug)

“Shangri-La found”

Salt Lake was our Shangri-La in Fiji! Andrew & Sonja are wonderful hosts. We enjoyed the beauty & the quiet privacy. The outdoor kitchen was clean & well outfitted. The gas grill is the best I've ever used. We really appreciated the Eco Friendly solar power & toilets. Andrew is a genius at design, construction & decoration. Fishing was great & eating them even better! A week or more stay was most enjoyed.

“Salt Lake Lodge Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2008

I thought Salt Lake Lodge was pretty sweet. It was like a bed and breakfast except without the overbearing and overfeeding hosts. Andy and Sonja were very hospitable and laid-back, an attitude that fits the lodge quite accurately. My favorite part of our stay there was the animals. Their two dogs-Ziggy and Nina- are protective of the guests and very friendly. The cat-Daisy- keeps to herself most of the time but is useful in defending the guests from geckos (ha). I'd say the main activity at SLL is fishing, but snorkeling, swimming, and kayaking are also options, among other things. My only recommendation for improving the lodge would be to expand the selection of reading materials available (I don't fish, so reading was an important pastime for me). Overall, I'd say that Salt Lake Lodge is an awesome place to chill out after running around Fiji trying to see all there is to be seen. Really, I think everyone needs to take a few days out of their adventuring to stop, look around, and notice how beautiful the natural areas of Fiji are. SLL is situated in the perfect place to do just that. ~alexis~

“Totally relaxing paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2008

Our family rented the 4-bed cabin. Perfect accomodations. The outdoor kitchen was terrific. Owners Andy and Sonya supplied us with a lot of fruit from their backyard. We bought food from the market and prepared it along with the fish that we caught - thanks to Andrew's excellent skills with fishing. Location was perfect - right on the river between the ocean and Salt Lake. Great for snorkeling, tubing, fishing, kayaking. Loved the eco-friendly atmosphere - very comfortable, not primitive. Andy's and Sonya's hospitality are perfect - just the right amount of attention while letting us do our own thing. Highly recommend.

“Authentic Fijian Tropical Haven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2008

For my 50th Birthday I wanted to go somewhere romantic but very special, and the Kingfisher room at Salt Water Lodge fitted the bill perfectly.
With beautiful lush green tropical fauna surrounding it, and tropical fruits of all kinds, set on the riverside with it's own private sandy beach it was dream to behold.
To cool off dive into the deep clear water just steps away from the front door or just walk in from the sandy beach below.
The privacy to enjoy this beautiful peaceful tranquility was just what we were looking for.
When you feel like a bit of shopping or interacting with the locals Savu Savu is only a short bus ride away.
Here you can experience authentic Fijian life in a small town beautifully positioned on the harbour, with its bustling marketplace which has everything you could imagine and an abundance of fresh food of every kind.
For fishing and snorkelling Andrew was the perfect host and guide, and together with wife Sonja they were welcoming and friendly and will guarantee you one of the most unique experiences to remember.
Unfortunately we could only stay for one week but we absolutely can't wait to go back again, only this time for longer.
