“Spend a little Fiji Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Taking part in the inaugural Fiji Pearl Ocean Swim we stayed 3nights at Daku Resort. If you are looking to see a really beautiful part of Fiji in a relaxed and welcoming location - then this is the place for you.
JJ and Delia ensured we all had a great time in Savusavu from the moment we stepped off the plane.
The cottage where we stayed was basic accommodation but all the important elements were there - great water pressure in the shower & clean dry towels each day (and in humid Fiji a dry towel/anything is quite a feat!). For a little extra luxury I highly recommend a massage with Carlos!
The nightly presentations (about: local pearl farming and the marine environment in Savusavu) were a real highlight and we were very sad to miss the snorkeling trip on the Saturday (sadly departing Daku Resort a day (many days) too early!
Very friendly staff and relaxed accommodation - this was a wonderful place to spend a little Fiji time!

Room Tip: Our room didn't have air conditioning (we had a wall fan) - but most rooms at the Resort do have...

I recently attended a fabulous yoga retreat at Daku with Pam Badham from SYdney (Kundalini hatha) and was lucky enough to add on competing in the inaugural 2km Fiji Pearl Ocean swim. What fun. Staying at Daku was like being with old friends. Hosts and owners Delia and JJ couldn't do enough for us and regaled us with stories at dinner. JJ has the most character of any hotelier I have come across and a wicked sense of humor. Our bure (3) was great and comfortably fitted with a double bed for us and a single bed for our 3 year old. She was treated to cuddles and kisses from the Fijian staff who looked after us royally. Keny and his wife Mereoni were great and massages with Kahlo were sensational (try the hot rocks). The village visit was a highlight. Thanks DAKU and thanks (vinyaka) Fiji.

We needed a place to stay for one night before hopping on a cruise and picked Daku because of the good ratings and reasonable pricing for the area (we were booking last minute).

We were pleasantly surprised with a VERY welcoming atmosphere and a great host (JJ). If we had known, we would have booked a longer stay :). When we arrived, we were greeted with a coconut drink and got to spend some time with the host and another new guest. We had a fun time just chatting about the most random things. After that, we still had time to jump into the pool and have a lovely dinner on the property.

Note that even though the host isn't always here, you'll likely have a good time. Everyone else was also very friendly. A local couple we met in the pool invited us to morning yoga. We didn't have time to explore the property or go to yoga because we had to get out early in the morning, but if I ever need to come back to SavuSavu this is where I'd go.

Room Tip: In some rooms, the shower is outside (private, but with stone walls and a view of the sky). that was...

My husband and I changed our wedding plans to have our wedding in Fiji and I must say with such short notice, the owners, JJ and Delia were able to accommodate us for our wedding. They helped us with everything prior to our wedding. The wedding, reception and hotel were at a great price. (The food was awesome) We had the option of a beach or garden wedding and we decided to have a beach wedding and it was more than what we expected...it was perfect. The hotel was clean and the staffs were friendly. We are so happy we decided to have our wedding in Fiji at Daku Resort. The experience was wonderful. The owners are great people and we are happy to have met JJ and Delia. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is planning to visit Fiji for a trip. It was my first time in Fiji and also at this resort and we enjoyed it. Special thanks again to the JJ, Delia and the staff at Daku Resort.
Best regards Tony and Kareen

We are a professional diving couple from Australia and we enjoy an annual diving trip each year. This was a traditional Fiji style resort that perfectly suited our needs; relaxed and homely. The staff were very helpful, the rooms were clean and the food was simple but wholesome. We dived every day down at the Jean- Michel Cousteau resort on the 2 for one special. The staff at Daku did everything possible to accommodate our needs arranging transportation each day as needed. We would love to stay at Daku again on another Fiji holiday adventure. Very relaxing.

Room Tip: We had a bure facing the beach and road. We were very comfortable and it was nice and quiet.

We are a couple from Germany and enjoyed our 2 weeks holiday at the Daku resort. Our bure was really nice and every day cleaned from a lovely women. She decorated our "home" with beautiful flowers and every day was different.
We did the 2 for one special with J.M.C. and it was fabulous. This was our first time that we dive so we did the open water and the advanced course and we really had fun. The namena reef is absolutely beautiful with all the different fish species.
The resort is about 5 minutes with the cab (3,50$), bus (0,70$) and around 30 minutes per foot away from town.
The only thing wich was not that good was the service in the restaurant. Maybe because we are too young (20 years). We decided to eat there and we just ordered a la carte, so we weren't allowed to sit together with the other guest, because they had the hole menu (3 dishes) and we just a main course. They told us to eat in our bure or in the inside separate from the others. We didn't like that. The meals are good to eat but in compare with the value in town it's quite to expensive and we expected more for that money. Because of that we always went to town to eat there. And you need to order the menu before 4 pm wich we can understand but if your are 15 minutes later and want to eat a la carte you can't order any more, so you need to go in town and eat there.
But anyway, the owners JJ and Delia are really endeavoured to give you a pleasant stay and to include you into the group. Thank you for that!!! JJ is really funny and you always can talk to both.
Best wishes Ole and Louisa

Great locally-run small resort. The staff were the highlight, all very kind and welcoming, and very willing to help with activities, from taking me solo snorkelling with a great deal of care, to carrying my kayak, to a good massage. The food was good - plain healthy breakfasts, and all other meals locally sourced food and recipes. Also lots of great fresh fruit juices and cold beers.
The rooms were large and clean and had lovely little relaxing balconies. Very cheaply furnished inside, but this is normal for a local place. Overall I had a very relaxing 4 day break, thank you.
