“good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

If you are diving in Vanua Levu and don't want to stay in an expensive resort, this will work well. I wanted something that wasn't a hostel. It's located in town, so you can eat out easily (I recommend Joseph's cafe) and walk around. Savusavu isn't know for it's beaches, so this made a decent home base. We dove with Koro sun and they picked us up daily. This hotel had a free washer/dryer, perfect view, nice pool and hot showers. The room was old and plain but clean. Nice little deck to drink wine off the room too. Friendly friendly staff.

Room Tip: 4th floor view

We have been there for 10 days in September 2011. The price/perfomance ratio is probably unbeatable. Friendly staff, good service + support (e.g. for activities). Food fresh and tasty, variety not excellent, but o.k., price fair. It is not a luxury hotel, but rooms (we had two) were absolutely satisfaying. Rooms clean and with great view. Slept the first night with open window and air con off: climate absolutely o.k., but two (or so) insects. Changed this and slept well the rest of the time. Was there in a new wheelchair-suitable room (as I am a wheelchair driver). Sleeping room and bathroom were almost perfect for me (some minor limitations as step to the balcon and slightly suboptimal access to the washbasin - however nothing serious - I had larger problems in most other hotels in Europe and USA). Short, but rather steep slope just in front of the hotel (you will always find someone to help, if needed). Can recommend the hotel to all wheelchair drivers with a minimum of mental flexibility (as you should have anyway when your traveling around). Dining area with beautiful view over Savusavu and bay.
Hotel 5 min of walk to the city.
So, if you expect a family, fijian atmosphere, reasonable comfort and a good price, you are absolutely right here. Will go there again, for sure.

This place is very well priced if you're looking for a basic, single, private room with a bathroom. The plumbing backs up in both the shower & toilet though, & the bathrooms needs redoing badly. Also, someone on staff told another hotel guest of the opposite sex (who I wasn't traveling with) which room I was in at midnight, which I thought was scary for future guests, but luckily, I can handle my own! Otherwise, great views from every room & the rrestaurant, nice people--especially Mariah & Reuben!! Great location & you MUST soak in the newly opened hot spring baths down the road, at the medical center. Also, have a taxi take you to the nearby waterfall, only 20 minutes away--Gorgeous!

Room Tip: Go for a fan room--the air con isn't necessary

I can't understand some of the whinges on this hotel. I stayed there for three days and was treated with friendly, courteous, and smiling staff at all times. The room was perfectly adequate with a/c, fan, shower and a great view. Food and bar service met expectations as well. Could not fault the deck overlooking the harbour nor the swimming pool. To top it off I had a late check out without charge so I could catch the Wednesday night boat around 2200. The slope up the hill was a bit challenging for an 80 year old but I managed to make it up about twice a day with a stop or two. If you are old (and decrepit) taxi's from town are fairly cheap. Hats off to the hotel and the staff. There was a TV in the restaurant area to watch the World Rugby matches but the absence of TV in the room should be seen as a blessing and not a shortcoming.

We were in Savusavu for a week and tried or sighted all the main restaurants and accomodation options and for all round value and the best views and food this was the best by a mile.
The huge deck from the bar and dining area and further deck around the pool offer the best views of the town and bay from sunrise to sunset. This is where you live when at the hotel.
Its not 'bure' or resort style but really just standard hotel rooms which are clean and cool , all with wonderful views.
What was surprising was the dining experience. New menu of fresh food each day - we had some great meals especially one lobster, prawn and fish course . Price is more than the cheap Chinese or Indian alternatives in town but still great value and wonderfully served. We should not have been surprised as the chef spent 10 years at Cousteau's and we certainly broke our normal habit of not eating in the hotel where we stay.
The people who work there are just lovely and nothing is too much - they organised trips, taxis, dives ....- we felt like we were leaving friends.

Room Tip: Cheapest rooms are on first floor with no aircon which is OK in winter. Still great views and comfor...

For a budget minded single traveller who loves a pool this place was a great choice.
The rooms do vary in price and facilities, but I was more than happy to have a bathroom, kitchen and balcony for little more than a room in a dorm in Nadi.
The staff were so welcoming and friendly, the pool so clean and refreshing. The view and sea breeze great. Hard to find fault. I spend a lot of time in the Pacfic and expect the roosters crowing at crazy hours, dogs barking, the humidity that means there is a continual fight against damp and mould
I take earplugs, air everything when the sun is out and acclimitise so I dont need airconditioning.
Everyone I talked to enjoyed their stay, many had been before and all expected to return.
An experience ( good or bad) is infuenced by expectations and for a budget hotel in the pacific I think Hot springs is a great find. I intend to return for an extended stay next winter.

Room Tip: different price, different quality find what suits

The staff were welcoming, we felt right at home. The rooms are basic but very clean. Infact, best house keeping I have seen (I travel alot for work) & was very impressed. The views are incredible, this region of Fiji is an amazing area - you must go! The quality of food from the restaurant & consistancy of serving night after night something different and tasty was a real treat. We dined in 3 nights & loved every meal. Hot Springs Hotel was like a home away from home for us. Lorna & here team are extremely professional and helpful, nothing was a very a problem. I'd go back & stay again & again. Represents great value for money.
