“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

My husband and I dove only two days while in Fiji and we couldn't be any happier that we chose to spend those days with Koro Sun Dive. We felt safe and well looked after the entire time. Colin and Janine were absolutely amazing and made sure to point out the "must see's" at every dive site. They were patient and had some great tips for me as I am very slow at descending and have some trouble with equalizing. The rental equipment at the shop is better than what we can rent at home to dive with and we were very impressed. As well as having a great time, the prices were almost half of what we found other places!
We were lucky enough to swim with hammerheads on day 2 which is something neither of us will ever forget. Not that we could ever forget anything we saw while diving Fiji.
During one of our surface intervals we were lucky enough to chase a sea turtle while snorkeling.

All in all a great team to dive with if you are new to diving or a diver master. We have already recommended diving with these guys to our friends.

Bula Folks,
Thanx for the lovely review! We're so glad you had such a grand time with us.
Equalising gets better with time and experience as you'll find out, but glad our tips helped you out and can apply them for future diving!
We're proud of the fact that we cater to new, experienced and professional divers. And also that we like to have as much fun above water as below!
Happy Diving! From the KSD Team.

“Hammerheads!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Big thank you to Janine and Colin. I completed my Open Water certification with them and had the time of my life. Very professional and safe instruction. Clearly understand the dive sites as I had a fantastic time at every dive. Special dives are Namena (1.5hr boat ride, but worth every minute. Bring a camera-you will not be able to register everything unless you rewatch what you saw several times) and Dreamhouse (Hammerheads!) I got very lucky and witnessed the hammerheads on only my second time diving Dreamhouse. It really is a luck thing, but KoroSun will give you the best chance at witnessing these magnificent creatures. Amazing experience!

“Fun, safe, and professional.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

We dove 3 days with KoroSun while staying in Savusavu. I've been on many dive trips in many places, and Colin and Janine are my favorite. Aside from them just being great people, they have good equipment, a great boat, and a wealth of knowledge about the area and diving in general. The were professional and courtoues, but mostly, they were FUN!! I wish we could have stayed longer and made it to Namena, but the dives that we did do were truly spectacular. Thanks Colin and Janine!!

Bula Vinaka!
So glad you agree with our advertising; "fun, safe and professiona!" As divers that's what we want, and as dive providers that's what we try to deliver!
Thanks for the review, and we're glad you've got fond memories of our local diving, and so sorry we could not line the ducks up in a row to get you to Namena...there's always next time!
Cheers and Sota Tale (see you later). x the KSD Team

“Fantastic dive shop - Amazing dives, amazing people.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

My wife and I spent a week and a half diving with this operation. The dives by themselves more than justified our entire trip to Fiji - and made for a memorable lifetime experience.

My wife and I dive alot, and we travel alot. We've gone through the full gamut of resorts, cruises, live-a-boards when it comes to diving. We've seen the full spectrum of service, equipment, safety, dive sites (well, at least dive sites within recreational limits). I also teach diving in my spare time, and understand alot of the business and liability side of diving.

Koro Sun Dive, while it's loosely-affiliated with a nearby resort that's average, stands out on its own in every way.

Starting with the dive sites - most of the sites are a short motor away, but are filled with a ton of marine life. Everything from tiny invertebrates to hammer head sharks. There's pretty much something that will satisfy any type of recreational diver here. As demand picks up - Colin will also schedule trips to further off sites. During our stay, we went to visit nearby Namena. As I look back at videos I recorded at Namena, I still stare at them in disbelief at times. I literally have shots with an order of several hundred thousand fish in the scene. It's a most unique form of limited visibility diving in crystal clear waters - since it's impossible to see past those dense schools of fish.

Moving on to diving style - Colin runs a very tight operation. Despite being the owner, he skippers the boat on each trip we were on, and ensures a quality experience. Across countless dives, I've never seen a guide that had such a mastery of the local wildlife. Colin not only knows where each nook and cranny lies - but also every inhabitant of it - and guides you from point to point. While on many other charters, I've heard of "Yeah, we were lucky today and saw X" - Colin creates his own luck by knowing the habits and hideouts of each critter in the area.

Despite all of the things to see, Koro Sun Dive doesn't have a fixed agenda - it's really all about what the customer wants. During my trip, I saw a macro photographer get assigned a guide that's happy to swim all of 15 feet for the entire dive. I also saw a first-time-divers couple get led through an entire dive while never letting go of Colin's hand.

While some non divers and new divers may not yet appreciate the risks of diving - I was really heartened to see a dive operation in tropical waters have such a high staff : customer ratio, safety precautions as more temperate / low-visibility areas of the world. There were days where experienced staff outnumbered customers on the boats - something that's very rare to see at the very reasonable price points Koro Sun Dive targets.

As for equipment - my wife and I have always brought our own equipment, and we're meticulous about its care. That said, after seeing how carefully the deck hands check, re-check, and maintain gear, as well as how thoroughly they rinsed it after the dives - we felt comfortable after our second day to accept their offers of taking care of our gear for us. (Yeah. They offered to do everything from setting up, to checking, changing out, to washing, to hanging and drying all of our equipment.) As for rental gear - their equipment looked fairly up to date and of decent quality, and is used by the staff themselves. While they did not maintain technical diving consumables, they have more than enough of anything a recreational diver could want.

Looking back, Koro Sun Dive is the type of operation that only becomes possible when a passionate diver decides to make it his life's pursuit to put together an operation that prioritizes a top notch diving experience over anything else. This sole motivation and focus on customer experience over profits or other considerations is clearly evident from the first Bula during the booking process, to the goodbye hugs at their restaurant in town - and made us fondly remember it as the defining moments of our second honeymoon in Fiji.

Bula Re!

We're so pleased that you have such wonderful memories of your time diving with us and such positive things to say about our dive operation.

Having great local diving on our doorstep is a draw card for sure, and Namena being a day trip both stand us in good stead, but we also appreciate your comments about our staff and how we operate in catering to the comfort, skill level and desires of our guests.

We certainly strive to exceed industry standards and as a dive prefessional we thank you for your recommendation of our dive operation for such simple things as quality rental gear, caring for personal gear of our divers up to the safety guidelines we operate with and the recognition that diving is a passion that we wish to share with all our visitors.

We are also happy to establish communication with our divers before they arrive in Fiji and are keen to pass on advice and answer any questions whether it is in regards to diving or spending time above water while in Fiji.

We sincerely thank you for your wonderful words and we do remember you folk fondly. Maybe one day you'll have another honeymoon in Fiji and we'll catch up again!

Vinaka vakalevu, moce mada! (Thank you very much and see you again!) The KoroSun Dive Team. :O)

“First class dive experience!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

My girlfriend and I visited Savusavu last month as we're lucky to find Koro Sun dive, as we were staying at the Koro Sun resort. I have had the fortune of diving all over the world and have experienced every level of dive experience and the dives at Koro Sun dive were simply first class. I am an experienced diver but my girlfriend did her first dive on this trip through the Discovery lesson and we both had an amazing time! Collin, Janine and staff were experienced, knowledgeable and great hands on teachers! Thank you for a truly great experience and Lisa and I will see you when we return... Thank you!
