I was not going to write about our honeymoon to turtle island last year, but after just returning from a wonderful holiday in Thailand that was 10x better and way less than half the price of Turtle, i felt the need to share my views. Firstly the positive - the staff are great. very cheerful all the time. They can be exceptionally slow, but it is the fijian way - they get to things in their own time. but they always do everything with a smile. Also, the location is beautiful, and with so few people on the island, you feel like you have a beach to yourself. Now the negaitives - the rooms really need some work. The beds are very uncomfortable, as they sag in the middle - time for a new mattress... There is a hard sell on you to come back. Within the first 30mins, they are trying to sell you a "return" package. There is also pressure to leave money in the "staff fund", but it is very hard to get details on exatly how the staff actualy get the money, and which staff are getting the money. Whilst it is "all inclusive" it was very hard to get the alcohol that you wanted. You basically had to request at breakfast for alcohol for that night, and then check a couple of times during the day to make sure that a) it had been brought from storage, and b) it was in the fridge! The alcohol they say they have aso is not aways the case, and some of the wine they try to serve is very very cheap wine. There was no alternative to the water besides the island water. 4 days in, i had a terribe stomach issue from the water, which lasted until i got home to clean water. The staff say there is nothing wrong with the water, and maybe it was just me, but i was in pain. The food is below average. The website and advertsiing is all about the food, but it was very disaapointing. Breakfast was ok, but one day for lunch it was toasted "tinned ham" sandwiches. you are paying a lot of money for tinned ham. What made it more disappoiting is that the food did improve when the owner of the island and 3 travel agents arrived. Lastly, when you fill out the mountain of paperwork they give you, they ask for a time to have a follow up chat with you about your trip. We wanted to pass on our feedback, but were never contacted. Overall, we made our fun as it was our honeymoon, and if it was 25% of what they charge, it might be close to good value, but for what they get you to pay, it is very very disappointing
