“TANTALISING TAVEUNI”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

Coconut Grove is one of those places that has merged the essence of the island life with the superb comfort and personal care that is provided throughout your adventure. A genuine warmth and exceptional dedication to your satisfaction emenates from all who work within this magnifect establishment.
We had the chance to experience two of the beautiful Bures during our stay both offering us exquisite views and many personal inclusions that are yet another example of how the owner Ronna Goldstein and her amazing staff work tirelesly to provide you with a unforgetable collection of memories that we will cherish for the rest of our days.
Our meals were fresh and healthy and prepared by an expert team that are passionate about the product they provide. The ingredients used being of the the freshest origins and lovingly grown by the Fijian Gentleman who so proudly keep a magnificent organic garden and who also keep the landscaping and vegetation of the property in such immaculate order.
We dived every day on the Amazing Rainbow Reef with Muriel and Carl owners of Taveuni Dive and our expert dive guide Joji and Skipper Jerry who are true proffesionals.
Our driver from Coconut grove would always be on time to take us to our dives and pick us up when they were over to have us back in time for another amazing lunch back at Ronna's.
The Kitchen would always make sure they had our breakfast ready before our dives and our lunch expertly prepared on out return.
We also kayaked out to the islands off the beach a number of times to Freedive on the amazing house reef just off the beach from Coconut Grove, it is healthy, vibrant and has many intresting experiences waiting to be discovered.
Our tours to different villages and landmarks on the island were an excellent way to discover the people and the environment. Much of the village population of Taveuni derive their living from subsistance farming and assorted crafts, timber carvings , basket weaving. It is a pleasure to be invited into the home of many of the villagers and to meet their families and relatives. Much of our time in Fiji was spent underwater though we still had ample opputunity to explore and relax on land as well. Lavena Coastal walk is a must with your personal guide who lives in Lavena village, they have walked this area since they could stand on two feet and their ancestors have fished the waters surrounding and worked the steep hills for centuries bringing you the intimate local knowledge of this spectacular part of the Taveuni Coast. Leaving Coconut Grove was difficult though I know one day we will be back and I know we will fall in love all over again just as we did the first time.
Thankyou to all staff of Coconut Grove and Taveuni Dive who made our time staying and diving with you something we will never stop thinking about. You are both providing service that should be acknowledged and applauded.

Room Tip: All Guests loved their Bures no matter which one they were in.

The nicest experience is to return to an establishment and find the same helpful and delightful staff, same good food and despite the recent cyclone Evan all was well.
Host Ronna Goldstein has some rules that are soft and easy but they help to create an atmosphere of peace and quiet.
Take a massage from one of the qualified girls, soft medium or hard, didn't opt for hard because because these delightful Fijian Ladies are strong and full of vitality. The medium however is stimulating and bound to make you feel renewed.
The food maintains the same high standard, wine is available at fair prices and it isn't a hike to the beach just a gentle one minute stroll onto soft coral sand. easy to swim at high tide and kayak out to the reef or the three small isles close in shore.
Easy place to access a few minutes from the small local airstrip, I would call it an airport, you jump on the scales with your bag so as not to overload the small aircraft that services Taveuni. Pacific Sun, division of Air Pacific soon to be Fiji Air is overpriced for the sort trip from either Nadi or Suva but at this point in time there is no competition, you can take the overnight boat from Suva.

Room Tip: There are only three Bures/Rooms, and they all seem alike.

Normally, I'd say we felt welcome at a place from the moment we arrived but in this case, we felt welcome even PRIOR to our arrival as Ronna (the owner) and I had emailed back and forth many times in the month or so leading up to our trip. However we felt even MORE welcome when we got there and the staff gathered on the steps and sang us a beautiful welcome song! What an awesome first impression! True to their website, we were upgraded to the bure that was closest to the ocean. It was lovely! My favorite part was the outdoor shower!! There were fresh flowers in the bure on arrival and when we came back to our bure after dinner there were flower petals in the shape of a heart on our bed. Beautiful!!!! There is a nice wine selection for purchase so we were able to sit out on our little patio and enjoy the sight/sound/scent of the ocean whilst having a nice glass of wine. It doesn't get much better than that! The meals that we had were delicious. The grounds are gorgeous. The bures are charming. The whole experience was picture perfect! We only had one night there prior to boarding the Tui Tai but I wish we would have had more!!

We enjoyed our 11-day stay. The staff were wonderful: very friendly & helpful but never intrusive. They happily arranged outings & accommodated requests. The meals were fresh & delicious from a varied menu. The grounds were lovely & well-maintained, a beautiful little sandy beach with shade, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking. The bures were clean and comfortable and private. The setting in a community, near a traditional village, means you can walk to stores, hear the neighborhood children and see the local people going about their day, including fishing on the nearby reef. If you'd prefer an artificially sterile resort environment with a lot of tourists and nightlife this place might not be for you. We loved it!

My husband and I just finished a 12 day stay at Coconut Grove that was simply wonderful. I cannot imagine a better place to stay when going to Fiji. The setting is idyllic from the quiet personal beach to the charming bures to the swimmable coral reef for snorkeling. We stayed in the Banana Bure which is closest to the water and is like having your own private beach house. Combine with the setting with the most wonderful staff you can imagine - kind, attentive, engaging. By the time we left they had become our friends. The homemade food was made with fresh, delicious ingredients by people who truly care that you enjoy each and every meal. I would recommend the meal plan because you won't want to eat anywhere else. Ronna has really created a special place and we will definitely be back! Thank you to everyone at Coconut Grove for a memorable experience. Stacey and Jon from San Francisco California.

Room Tip: We loved the Banana Bure. Its like your own beach house.

We got married at the private little beach. Everything was exactly the way we had imagined it to be. A relaxed wedding day at the beach without anything to worry about. We had a beautiful ceremony and candlelight dinner at the beach. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful and on our wedding day they put a lot of effort in decorating our bungalow and the beach. We did not hire a photographer and we were glad we didn't because Ronna and Serah took amazing wedding pictures.
The food is delicious, great variety of fresh homemade dishes. The bungalows are comfortable and well maintained.
A perfect stay in paradise with special thanks to the staff and Ronna!

I stayed at the Coconut Grove for 8 nights and could have easily stayed another week. Ronna (the owner) has wonderful, wonderful, wonderful staff who make you feel welcome and part of a family. the Fijian people are so beautiful and friendly....just amazing.
The resort gardens are beautiful and very well kept as is the restaurant and the Bures. the food at the restaurant is excellent and you will never starve. breakfast at Coconut Grove is extremely generous and you can have just about anything. you must try the muslie with toasted coconut thru it and the papaya bread is fantastic. this is a holiday for families, friends, couples & solo (as i was). there is no TV in the bures....thats fine as i had my lap top with movies on it and some books. Ronna has provided a CD player in the room with some extra cd's and books and there is a bar fridge in the room with drinks (for sale). there is no air con and you dont need it (there is a fan), as there is always a beautiful breeze off the ocean. there is also a Massage Bure and the staff are well trained in the art of massage.... i had 5 in 8 days....that tells you something. there are lots of things to do (if you want) or just chill and swim, eat & drink. (dont go there if you want the large international resort thing happening). Its a very quiet place, but so wonderful for your body & soul. If you are keen to snorkle or dive......you MUST go to Rainbow Reef....its just amazing. you get picked up at the resort by the very friendly staff and have a wonderful day. definately dont forget the sun screen.
I travelled to Fiji on my own and NEVER felt once unsafe, or had any security issues. At meal time on the restaurant verandah overlooking the ocean, the other guests were extremely friendly and always happy to introduce themselves and chat about their travels and experiences. If you like to have a drink on your own verandah, grab a bottle of Duty Free alchol or you can buy some at the little supermarket down the road. I will definately go back and stay. thanks Ronna & all your wonderful staff. Julia from Mackay, Queensland, Australia

Room Tip: there are only 3 Bures and they are all great. they all have fantastic views of the ocean, beautiful...
