“Still going strong - Coconut Grove Restaurant is tops”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

My recent return to Taveuni, this time with my family after being away for thirteen years, gave us an opportunity to dine at Coconut Grove's restaurant. It was an opportunity we indulged in several times during our two week stay on the island. Thirteen years ago the food was great at Coconut Grove, and it still is. Ronna, the owner of Coconut Grove Beach Bungalows and associated restaurant is still there, and has been since the early 1990s when she started up the place. So is her head cook - Bibi. Fijian of Indian descent, Bibi make fabulous curries, fabulous roti, fabulous everything. The best on the island - better than what you will find in Suva. The organic garden on the premises assures you the salads, and many other ingredients in the restaurant are of top quality. Furthermore, the fact that Bibi has been there for over two decades tells you that Coconut Grove's vision is one of sustained high quality.

There is only outside seating on a covered deck with a beautiful view over the beach and ocean. No air conditioning, but overhead fans. Ocean breeze is not infrequent.

No electronics (laptops/iPads etc) in the dining area please. Coconut Grove Bungalows does not allow kids (to stay in the bungalows) but the restaurant does allow well behaved kids to eat in there.

Breakfast and lunch are served until 2pm. If you're planning on having dinner, please make reservations by 2pm or so.

“Homemade and delicious”

We ate every meal for 12 days at Coconut Grove. Each meal was better than the last and we never got bored with the menu.

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

The food at Coconut Grove is amazing and the women there (especially Flori and Sareh) put love and happiness into everything the make! Outside of the great food there, we also had great company - from the staff, to the other guests staying there, to the guests staying around Matei just looking for some good food. Each meal inevitably led to talks with the other patrons about where they had been, where they were going, and great stories.

“Bought the full meal plan....didn't regret”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

On Taveuni there aren't a ton of restaurants. Most of the places to eat are at the actual "resorts". I advise to get a full meal plan and if you want to try something different then just skip a meal there and go pay extra that one night somewhere else. The whole island pretty much comes to a halt at night time. There are only a few places that are stand alone eating establishments (unless this has changed in the last few years). The pizza joint at the point is one of them and is really good too. Ronna and the staff here really do a good job at the food. Most of the veggies are grown on the plot of land next door to Coconut Grove and the pasta is made fresh in the morning and it is awesome!!!!! We loved hearing the Fijian girls ask us what we wanted for "starters".....SO rad! I miss Coconut Grove, its staff, and it's food tremendously and can't wait to return!!!

“Good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Food was good, but a bit pricey. Portions were small but it did hit the spot for something different that day.
