We have been visiting Sharm el Sheikh for over 20 years and the Sinai Star is an absolute Don't Miss! The seafood is totally fresh and you get a very large platter. Let me describe the experience:
Get a taxi to Old Sharm El Sheikh (not Naama Bay) and ask the taxi driver to drop you near the Sinai Star - they will know it. It will be about a 20 metre walk. It's a very small place, not in the least fancy, paper tablecloths with some tables inside and more outside. Don't be put off by the very plain surroundings - the food is outstanding.
You sit down. The owner will come and take your order. Basically you order platter 1 or platter 2 depending on whether you want both fish and seafood. You can have it grilled or fried. You will get a HUGE platter plus salad, bread and dips for an absolute pittance and I promise you that when it comes you will wonder if you read the menu right!
They don't serve alcohol but you can buy wine from a stand across the road or a shop 50 yards further up and they will serve you quite happily.
This is a taste of the old Sharm before there were any hotels and when there were just fishermen, divers and the Bedouin. If you go once, you'll go again.
After dinner, wander into the market for coffee and shisha.
Allie.
