Show lessIt was lovely having you all here and thanks for writing this review of Sharks Bay Umbi. We hope to see you again soon.
We live ...some of the time..in nabq, Sharm el shiekh, but booked in here last week for just a night with friends who'd come over on holiday. The accommodation ...in beach huts...was just amazing value for money. Spotlessly clean, lovely staff, and what a joy to be snorkelling at 8am on one of sharm most beautiful, reefs. We had a wonderful day, a lovely, relaxed, chilled evening. Fabulous food...as always. Highly recommend. It's not "five star" accommodation, but is definitely five stars for value for money, cleanliness, friendliness, location and food! Fab wee "holiday"...
Thank you so much for writing this great review on Sharks Bay Umbi. I know we are biased but we totally agree with everything you have written :-)
We hope to see you again soon.....
We went with our 8 years old child to Sharks Bay Umbi Diving Village in August and It was fantastic. All the staff is kind and always ready to make your holidays special.
From the very beginning, before booking we asked by email a few times an we always got a prompt reply from Beverly with all the info requested.
We made our mind as umbi was exactly the kind of place we were looking for to visit Sharm el Sheikh but not in the noisy Naama Bay. Also to take in account that some other diving resorts paradoxically do not have direct access to the sea.
We had a triple bedouine room that was more like two big double rooms together with an in suit bathroom. The rooms are big, clean, with air conditioning ans fridge.
The views are fantastic form all the rooms to the sea side from the balconies.
We feel so good in Umbi that we never left to Naama Bay, The Restaurant is great and they have a good choice of egyptian and european dishes, at good prices, the staff one again so nice and helpfull.
The diving and snorkeling boat trips to Tiran Island, Ras Mohammed and others local pristine reefs, I reckoned that are the best choice as the pier is just one minute walk from the diving centre, so you do not have to spend time with transfers from other hotels. Their boats were never crowded and the crew always so helpfull.
We also enjoyed fantastic snorkeling from the jetty in the local reef so full of marine life.
It is perfectly fine to go with children, there is not swimming pool but if you are keen in snorkeling you wont miss it, also the bubblemaker diving for kids is great, and the dive instructors really good.
Most of the people that we meet are regulars that come back to umbi time after time after trying some other places in Sharm el Sheikh.
It is exactly with is says in the tin: "You come as a guest and leave as a friend"
Thank you so much for this great review of Sharks Bay Umbi. It was lovely having you all here and special thanks for the fabulous Bubble Maker / Seal Team video.
We hope to be able to welcome you all back again soon.
Chose this location because it was away from Sharm mainstream and provides a more relaxed and less corporate experience. Facilities are comfortable, if a bit "tired". The airconditioning leaked a few times, but staff responded immediately and sorted out problems. Food was good. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Thanks for taking the time to review Sharks Bay Umbi. It was good having you here and we hope you come back and see us again soon.
Very basic but at an amazing price. Very close to the airport and they will pick you up for free. Wifi did not really work all the time but its free and that is hard to find.
Many local people go here and the restaurant has some amazing dishes all very fresh and at unbelievable value.
Friendly staff that don't really speak English but will do everything they can for you and then some more.
I am not a large person and my gf is tiny but we both found the shower ridiculously small. (yes we used it one at a time!)
The manager on shift when we left was not the friendliest but still did all that we asked.
Thanks for the review of Sharks Bay Umbi and your comments. We hope to be able to welcome you back again soon.
I have been extremely disappointed with your service. On the 18/06/2015 I have booked vacation package to Sharm el Sheik. Once there I discovered that I have been charged from Expedia with the high season price, while UMBI Diving Village considered August a low season, and that the room allocated to me, the view hut at the UMBI diving village was a dirty inhospitable wood shelter without air-conditioned only a fan with an even dirtier shared bathroom and shower. It was impossible to leave in that place at this time of the year with temperature reaching 40 degrees Celsius and higher I had to change for the beach cabin. On the Expedia website the room description is very poor, in the Expedia website is just described as view hut with shared bathroom. This is not acceptable; you must give the costumers, as much information is possible to help them to make their informed choice. Also you should refuse to sell this kind of shelters in this time of the year someone could really get sick because of the high temperature inside it. Also the place is very quite no TV no animation at all. The only fun thing is the Bedouin tent with tee and shisha. No Internet except in the vicinity of the reception. Old Sharm and Naama Bay are 20-25 Km from shark bay you have to get a taxi. I am looking forward to hearing what kind of excuse you have you should put the safety and wellness of the costumers first.
Best regards,
I was sorry to read your review, especially as we all discussed this with you a number of times whilst you were here.
I have checked back through the email thread between you and our reservations department and 3 times it was pointed out to you that the View Hut had no air conditioning and therefore was not a good choice at this time of year. The fact that you were unable to change this with the on-line booking agent is something that we have no control over. We did everything we could this end to inform and assist you and also did not charge you for the upgrade of room once you were here.
The View Huts are our budget ‘glamping’ option and although popular with many they are certainly not for everyone. We have taken your comments on board however about the on-line description and will try and make the description better to avoid this situation in the future – so thank you. This however is not as easy as it sounds as there as limitations within the on-line website – we cannot just type our own description of the rooms as all there is are boxes to tick or not.
As for the low seasons’ rates; originally these special offers were only being offered in June and July. As they proved to be very successful we decided in mid-July (after your June booking had been made) to extend these specials into August as well. This would only apply to new bookings and not for people who had already booked, although as you were booking your diving when here, it did mean that you could take advantage of the cheaper diving prices.
Yes, you are correct – we have no TV and no animation and we make no apology for this. It is precisely why many people love coming here time and time again. It is relaxing and peaceful but we also know that it isn’t for everyone as some people prefer the buzz of Naama Bay and all that it entails.
