Stayed here for 11 nights Sept 2013 and I was completely overwhelmed by it from the journey up the driveway to the reception. There were cold drinks and towels on arrival and luggage taken care of and tagged whilst checking in. Staff were very professional and welcoming. Our room (3147) was only 5 minutes walk from reception, we were transported there by golf buggy. Room was huge and spotlessly clean, bed and pillows incredibly comfortable and changed most days, also plenty of good quality towels. No issues with mosquitos or creepy crawlies - hotel has early morning/evening fumigation procedure. Air conditioning in room very effective - recommend keeping it on lowest setting overnight, as its not so noisy then.
The hotel is set in huge beautiful grounds, which were spotless and beautifully maintained, we could not fault any of the staff, all those we spoke to were incredibly polite and would go out of their way to greet you, and were very hard working in temperatures of 40 degrees and higher!
The hotel was clearly under occupied so no issue with sunbeds and/or overcrowding, sadly some of the facilities were closed, but not an issue for us. We moved from pool to pool more so for a change of scenery, but particularly liked the relax pool for the adult only concept and sunbeds in water - (brilliant idea) and the leisure pool for fun (can't remember the names of all the staff, but they were all fab! the towel guy at the leisure pool is worth a mention), loved his humour and he certainly went out of his way to entertain guests, and get us on the slides!
Poolside bar service was excellent, we were never without a drink, plenty of variety of poolside snacks, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches all excellent quality. Hotel beach immaculate and easily accessed via lifts from infinity pool - again no issues with loungers, although beach restaurant was closed for meals, but bar area and terrace was open. We only found the infinity jacuzzis a few days before we left - go seek them out!!
We were approached by duty managers on a couple of times to check we were happy with everything, minor issue with room not being serviced when we returned at the end of the day on a couple of occasions was soon rectified and a lovely bouquet sent to us for our inconvenience and a very humble apology from our cleaner (which made me feel terrible)! There is plenty of variety of food and drink, no-one will go hungry or thirsty here, food is well presented, quality is very good, spotless table linen and cutlery and hand gel sanitiser well stocked.
Free shuttle bus to Soho Square and back, and private taxi service available at hotel to Naama Bay, although we came for a relaxing holiday and are repeat visitors to Sharm so we did not venture far from the hotel
Only downside is evening entertainment is certainly 'low key' although animation staff were lovely and always had a smile and a few words, I could see this to be an issue for people who are expecting someone to entertain them all night. Lovely roof terrace in the Caribean Bar with views over the sea. Public bathrooms and toilets were immaculate.
Although all the staff were fantastic we would like to commend Fady who looked after us in the lobby bar area, it was lovely to get to know him, he is a true asset to the ROBB along with Essem the duty manager. There is good WiFi access in lobby area, and air conditioning was a huge relief when we needed it!! We could not understand why the piano bar area in the lobby was sectioned off with a notice saying extra charges apply, but were too relaxed to query this - more curious!! as the lobby area was popular because of the WiFi, seemed a shame for it not to be occupied.
Having previously worked in the travel industry, I am unknown for returning to the same hotel twice - from speaking to people we met, there are plenty of return visitors to this hotel, some of whom were very tearful on departure :( which should speak for itself. I always think the world is a big place and there are lots of places to go and stay. However, this hotel is probably one of the very few places I would definately return to, so well done to the ROBB and management, we loved it here!
