“great location.. nice gardens.. poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2009

We have just returned from a 1 week holiday at the tropitel hotel naama bay.

I thought i'd write this as i based my own decision to book this hotel after reading reviews on this website.

This hotel is in a perfect location. it is near the beech (1 minute walk across the road) and is on the doorstep of all the shops, cafes and restaurants.

The rooms are cleaned to a high standard and are pleasant enough. however the bathrooms could do with some touching up and some attention. the shower had no pressure and the tiles needed grouting.

that said the room we stayed in had its own patio area and the gardens are beautifuly maintained and clean. this is a huge resort with 7 swimming pools. ask for a room at the rear of the resort if you want to stay away from the noise of the local area and entertainment.

food was buffect style in one restaurant. the other restaurants are seperate concessions and you pay extra for these. good selection of food but the food was almost the same everday. breakfast lacked fruit. avoid the restaurant manager at all cost as he is very rude and will be-little you if you ask for any assistance. that said the waiters are friendly.

food is not really upto 5 star standard but acceptable. no seafood like prawns. also the snacks in the daytime are usually just cakes.

my main criticism is the service from the reception staff. reception staff are very rude. we had to change rooms on the first day due to really noisy neighbours who were banging the doors and partying till 5am. the recepstion staff kept telling us to come back at 9.30 then 11.30 then 13.30 and really couldn't care less and treated us like we were an inconvenience.

also when we questioned the bill at the end of the stay the reception staff was were rude.

to sum up, if you want a real 5 star experience go stay at the marriot or hilton or novotel. but if you on a budget and still want a great location with food and rooms that are ok then stay here. if you get a good price then its worth puting up with the ok food and poor service due to nice gardens and excellent location.

lovely hotel staff very friendly and helpfull the guy at the sunrise pool had our sun beds and towels waiting every morning and the bar and resteraunt staff were just as friendly and helpfull food was good no complaints, if you like whiskey ask for brandy it tastes like whiskey ,beer ok rooms very nice right next to pool . outside the hotel was a sight to see all the bars and shops brightly lit but shop keepers a little to pushy some people would find this scary but in all be firm and just say no they get the message . we went on a trip to cairo left hotel at 4am and arived back at 11.15 in the evening long tiring day and not really worth it to much hassle at the pyramids and the mosque traders trying to sell you things cairo itself is a toilet not worth a visit. would go again to sharm el sheikh just for the hotel

I stayed at this hotel in the summer with friends. The hotel is very central and so is close to everything you need. The pools are spacious and there is never any problem with sunbeds. The staff in the bars and restaurants are very helpful. My only complaint is that my watch was placed in the safety deposit box but when the battery dies on the box the box opens. This is something you have no control over. After I returned from my day out, the box had opened and my watch was gone. Another guest I spoke to said that the same thing had happened to them and money had gone missing from their box. After speaking to the management they said this could not have possibly happened! Clearly it did as I now have no watch!!!! They were of no help whatsoever. My advice is to keep really valuable things with you as much as possible as it seems this is a little scam going on in the hotel.

Really liked this hotel. All staff were very friendly and helpful.
Good food, lots of choice. Couple of pools to choose from, never had any problem getting sunbeds.
Great location in the middle of Naama Bay. Could be a little noisy at night, as you would expect being in the middle of the resort, but we didnt mind this. When you are in the room with the doors shut you can't hear anything. On of our rooms was literally opposite the Little Buddha nightclub and even then the noise was minimal inside the room.
We went all inclusive and would recommend this as drinks etc would be very expensive if not.
Other room was in one of the villa style areas, was quite a walk to reach it, but could get a golf buggy ride if we wanted, however we didnt mind the walk.
All in all a great time, weather was fantastic in October.

Excellent location, right in the middle of naama bay, no walking to get anywhere, except the pools where any sun shone, which were up hill from our room, however rooms near these pools would have the uphill walk to return to their rooms on a night, have returned quite fit though. The food here was excellent, always a good choice and well cooked. waiters don't clear or set tables quick enough but that's because there is not enough of them- there appears to be too many supervisors and not enough doing the work. bed uncomfortable and the room boy wasn't the cleanest. but if you want a central location with good food try it.

what was excellent were the few nights we spent out in the town, finding a nice little and brand new bar called the underground (it's at the side of the taven), cheap beer and shorts (good quality -none of the egyptian rubbish) run by Rachel and her friendly staff. got TV's shows football and other sport, but will put on what you want. has only been open 6 weeks when we went so still trying to get established so please support.

went to dive and did that with Camel dive club, great friendly staff, had a good laugh - would recommend to anyone beginners to experienced.

Great location at the top of the main street of Namma. The staff are wonderful and the house staff never stop cleaning. we stayed in the hotel area where all the rooms look out over the sea but further back there are villas with private pools. We love Naama and the hotel location is great if you want to be in the thick of it or walk along the quiet (but very safe, lots of uniformed and non uniformed police around) beach walkway to the bars and resturants, we recommend the Viva bar and restaurent the table are on the beach, its very romantic serves steak and seafood, Tam Tam is a very friendly and authentic north African restaurant and our favourite place is the Spider bar, beach front of the Al Boston Hotel. It serves the best fresh fruit smoothies and great sheeshas. The staff our lovely..Mimo will make sure you are well looked after.
We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back
