“Relaxed and well maintained”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

The setting is really beautiful with lots of interesting little paths and bridges, the garden and plants well maintained and manicured.
The food was excellent. At night you can sit outside along the edge of the pool and enjoy a candle light dinner.
Rooms are comfortable and clean, bed mattresses rather hard. NIce towels and a fresh fruit basket each morning.
The 'village' has two separate pools. The lower one is for the 'young' crowd with pop music being played and some form of entertainment being offered during the day. The upper one is less noisy and has a more relaxed and quiet feel to it.
The spa is ok, but rather expensive. I paid 60 Euros for an hour of Thai massage, 30 for a facial. The sun and sea water are for free, so do that instead.
If you just want to enjoy the weather and the beach and the food this is the perfect location. If you want to see a bit of 'real' Egypt, than get into a minibus..... it is fun, if you can make yourself understood. 3 egyptian pounds (Nov 2012) per person will get you to the 'Old Market' or to 'Naama Bay'. Just flag down the bus and say something like 'Id neen' (zweimal), have exact change handy and give it to driver on your way out. A taxi in comparison is about 30 to 35 pounds (Nov '12) but you have to bargain hard to get that.
We enjoyed our stay at the Nubian Village and heard from other guest that it is one of the best locations in the area of Sharm el Sheik!

We stayed at the Nubian Island hotel from the 29th of October to the 5th of November. There were 7 of all together over 2 families 4 adults and 3 children aged 11, 9 and 8. We stayed in the bungalows.

The hotel is lovely and clean and well looked after by all the staff. Food was great with plenty of choice for everyone.

Special mention has to go to a few members of the staff who work such long hours but always greeted us with a smile and high fives for the children. George in the lobby bar, Ahmed in the restaurant and Baseem the towel guy down at the lively pool.

What really made the holiday for us all was the animation team. Charlie, Luca and Katia were brilliant and kept us entertained for the whole holiday. They made us all laugh on so many occasions and have to say work their socks to make sure everyone is having a great time.

Although we were in the minority at the hotel we never had a problem. At the end of the day a holiday is what you make and with the staff and the animation team at this hotel we couldn't have felt more welcome.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone and hope to return soon.

We stayed for 12 nights at the end of October having been at the Island twice in the preceding 12 months. In short it continues to get better and GM George continues to deliver a fantastic holiday experience.
There is more detail in my previous reviews but:
-Pre-trip communication as great with us being given a bungalow in the area we requested.
-Check in was great
-All the staff were fantastically friendly as always. Special note for "Shayko" at the island pool, George in the Lobby bar, Pool boys Waheed and Baseem and all the waiting staff.
-Food continues to improve (loads of salads, fruits, seafood...) and still has something for everyone - again I put on weight! We visited the seafood restaurant one night using a complimentary voucher for returning guests and were very impressed with the food and entertainment.
-Problems. A leaking aircon was repaired in 10 minutes. Problems with the internet connection to the hotel meant a few days without wifi connection and so we were given a total refund on the 2 weeks of wifi we had bought (very impressive service)

Conclusion - The Nubian Island offers great value for a very relaxing Sharm holiday. It is quiet, clean and delivers ultra-friendly, highly professional service.

We will be back and see no need to look anywhere else in Sharm.

Room Tip: Email requests are well handled. Bungalows in beautiful gardens, hotel rooms closer to restaurants.

Just returned on the 16th November after 2 weeks stay was a bit shocked at first with the amount of kids in the hotel on first week, but we obviously hit Russias half term will check that in future before booking Egypt. Being two couples who love our Grandkiddies but go away for a break. Apart from that the hotel was great spotlessly clean although we booked double rooms we were given Bungalows which were spacious and had everything you needed. Two pools were great for us as one lively one quiet we opted for quiet, but only down side the lively one got the comfy sun beds think that needs to be next purchase for the hotel. The staff were amazing they could not do enough for you food and drink all good just leave dinner until after 8pm when our Russian friends have eaten or be prepared to push and shuve a bit. The entertainment team were very enthusiastic and Chelsea Charlie and Luca worked there socks off. We did have an enjoyable holiday and would consider the Nubian again in the future

Nubian Island hotel is a great place to stay if you are a couple or going with your family. The hotel buildings, hotel room and grounds were always clean and well maintained. The staff were polite and helpful and liked to have a chat about where you are from and what you think about Egypt. The food was good and there was always plenty to choose from each day. We were worried about the food as we read a lot of worrying things about tummy bugs before going out to Egypt. Our Thomson rep assured us that all the food, ice cubes and salad are prepared with bottled water only, which ease our minds and helped us relax and enjoy the food and drink. The BBQ nights were by far the best!! The cocktails were ok but not the best quality. Same with the soft drinks unfortunately - rather too sweet for my taste.
You can use the pools in Nubian Village too, which have a couple of water sides at one. The Nubian Island pool was quieter which I liked, but my other half preferred the music and events hosted by the animation team at the Nubian Village pool. There is also access to the beach from the hotel and a jetty which means those that like the snorkeling will enjoy jumping off the end to see the coral and fish.
The down side of this hotel for me and my partner was that it was a fair distance from Naama Bay, which is worth checking out. Its a typical tourist place with shops and places to smoke Shisha. Some of the places have entertainment while you relax for a drink and a smoke. It was strange and funny to see 4 guys in the traditional robe dancing Soldier Boy's 'Crank That' and then to be followed by a man dancing with snakes! We paid about 50 Egyptian pounds in a taxi to go each way, with seemed far considering the distance.
We had read reviews about there being a lot of Italians and Russians at this hotel, but didn't think it would matter. However, it is very obvious you are a minority as a Brit and a lot of the activities and entrainment within the hotel was geared at the Russians. This was a little off putting after a while.
Overall I would highly recommend this hotel and would consider staying there again.

Returned from Nubian Island on the 12th November visited for 10 nights and can honestly say we had a fantastic time, we had a family bungalow which was spacious and equipped with everything we needed, it was cleaned every day and free access to a safe was also provided. Worth taking a travel kettle if you want a hot drink in your room.

Having visited Egypt several times over the last 20 years we have always found the Egyptian people to be friendly and all the staff at the Nubian Island did not disappoint. Egypt is not renowned for the best entertainment but the entertainment team and that provided by the hotel in the lobby bar were the best we have ever experienced, throughout the day and night there was always something going on (special mention to Charlie who kept us entertained with his Michael Jackson routine......keep practicing!).

The food was varied and the alcohol was good and plentiful, we ate most lunchtimes in the restaurant by the activity pool and the evenings at the main restaurant attached to the reception we never felt the need to eat off site as there was always something to suit our tastes.

Snorkelling was great as always in Sharm.

All in all we had a great time at Nubian Island - Thanks to all the staff in the bars, restaurants and entertainment team for an enjoyable holiday!

Room Tip: Room 937 family bungalow is close to the activity pool

Our 5th time back in Egypt for October half term and we have stayed in a different hotel each time, in our opinion this one has been the best. Arrived approximately 9pm very quick check in then we were taken to our bungalows waited approximately 5 minutes for the cases to turn up, unpacked and straight to the bar! The bungalows are beautifully situated on little islands surrounded by a stream with bridges to cross to reach them, they all have their own terrace with table and chairs and a little garden enclosed by a small picket fence with hedges and trees, so relaxing to just sit outside, you felt you could have been anywhere in the World. The bungalows themselves are spacious and well equiped with tv, huge double bed, plenty of drawer and wardrobe space, fridge, safe, shower, wc (with phone!) and hairdryer. My only niggle would be that the pathways could be lit a bit better.
The food was excellent, loads of variety - egg cooking station for breakfast along with fruits, yoghurts, cereals, sausages, bacon, hams, cheeses, pastries, rolls etc etc. Then for lunch pasta cooking station, salads, meat vegetables, fish, burgers, chips, potatoes, and in the evening a different roast meat, beef, duck, chicken, beef wellington, pasta, fish a variety of vegetables and desserts to indulge in (expect your clothes to be a lot tighter on the return journey, even though they do have a diet corner)! We were travelling in a party of 8 the oldest being 87 and the youngest 13, no complaints from anyone.
We spent most of our time around the top pool where there were always sunbeds available and a nice swim up bar which we found quieter and relaxing . All the animation are at the other pool nearest the beach. Speaking of the animation team, we all loved Charlie (London) and Luca (Mad) they were all very friendly and stopped to have a chat every time we saw them.
I would thorougly recommend this hotel to all age groups, the waiters, barmen, reception, cleaners in fact everyone was so friendly and smiling all the time, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was kept spotlessly clean and tidy. Would I return? oh yes please......

Room Tip: Get a bungalow if possible
