“A Taste of Paradise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

This was my second stay at the Grand Rotana within 6 months and it never fails to impress!

The hotel premises are functional & with beautiful landscaping giving easy access to the breathtaking beach front & amenities. The coral reef surrounding the beach here provides hours of incredible snorkeling fun.

The beach-front rooms offered breathtaking views and sunrises are a unique feature at this hotel. The sound & sight of the Palm Trees swaying in the wind are mesmerizing.

We stayed at the Grand Rotana in May 2012 as part of a Yoga Retreat and we could not have asked for a more idyllic setting. Daily Yoga sessions at the Lido Cafe at 6:30am is a memory I shall treasure forever!

Although the buffet luncheon was somewhat lacking in imagination the incredibly attentive and friendly staff - most notably Ahmed and Ramadan ~ who more than made up for it! The Palms Bar Seafood is delicious with generous portions and great sea views while dining.

One of the highlights of our stay was a Cruise to Tiran organised by the proficient Camel Dive Club. Special thanks go to Antonella and her team (Francesco & Tulio) for being such amazingly informative ambassadors of the Red Sea and it's hidden treasures. They gave their time generously and the boat lunch and dives they arranged were superb.

This was an amazing experience overall and I whole-heartedly recommend the Grand Rotana and look forward to going back again very soon!

Room Tip: Go for the beach front rooms - you won't regret it!

In my opinion it’s by far the best hotel in Sharm el Sheikh! It was our second visit and what a fantastic end to yet another exciting tour of Egypt. A week at the Grand Rotana was simply the icing on the cake! We are already planning our return visit next year! As a family we can't thank everyone at the Grand Rotana enough for making our stay such an enjoyable and memorable experience.
Despite the tourism downturn the hotel keeps the highest of standards in every department - from a fantastic variety of food in its several restaurants, impeccable cleanliness throughout the resort, to interesting evening entertainment. What a wonderful, spacious and luxurious place to relax in. The resort has something for everyone including families with younger as well as older kids. Different rooms and packages are available to suit any budget. Some of the many highlights include: breathtaking views from the infinity pool, a wonderful, relaxing spa and romantic evening walks on the extended promenade. The official hotel photos are superb and really do show the real Grand Rotana.

4 nights at this hotel at the end of our tour of Egypt, gave us time to unwind and chill. We were upgraded to seaview rooms and took the option of the ultra All Inclusive, which cost a total of £350 ish for the two of us. It gave us the option of 4 restuarants for lunch and dinner, soft drinks, local spirits, wine and beers. It was certainly worth it.

Staff can't do enough to help, especially Hany and Eslam in the Palm Bar and Grill which offers brilliant seafood and grills. Silk Road is a mixture of Indian, Thai and Chinese, Mezzalune is pizza and pasta. Only ever had breakfast in Ramases II, but it offers a buffet for all meals.

No real beach, but the coral reef comes up to the edge of the property and you can stand on any of the pontoons/sea access points and watch the fish. Camel Diving has a branch on the property and are really lovely people. Went for a free snorkelling lesson with them and saw Nemo!!

Rooms have balconies, fridges and tea/coffee making facilities. Bedding and towels are changed daily. The airconditioning is a tad noisy for me, but I used earplugs! Huge pool with a flume, childrens area, pool bar and ice cream bar. Outdoor cinema for the kids, childrens club and activities offered. Lots of space to relax, walk in the immaculate grounds, sunbathe, work up a sweat in the gym and have a relaxing massage. Tennis and a games room offering a variety of games from table tennis to billiards and board games.

Minor downside was the price of items in the onsite shops, but if you take a short walk up the road outside the complex, there are a selection of shops including a pharmacy, mini market and gift shops. You might even spot the odd camel 'parked' outside as we did!!

Don't expect the standard of a Regent or 4 Seasons, but a lovely setting with great people. It's a favorite with the Russians too, there were a lot there when we were.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are lovely, but not absolutely necessary. The staff use little golf cart type vehicl...

We choose Grand Rotana as it offered a good balance of relaxation and entertainment for our three year old and we really enjoyed our stay. Once you get over the slight differences associated with staying in a top-end hotel in Egypt compared to other places in the world such as the style of breakfast and the smell of the drains, then Rotana will not disappoint! The staff were superb..and great with kids. The grounds are impressive, lush and offer fantastic views of the Red Sea, especially from the gym. The glass bottom boat trip is recommended as are the massages in the beach Cabanas.

A couple of tips: 1. To help clear up any confusion over visas, as the Easyjet staff did not have a clue.. If you intend to stay in Sharm only for less than 14 days then do not pay for a visa upon arrival in the airport as one is not needed. 2. With regards to currency, the hotel offers a good rate at c.+0.50ep more than what you would get in the UK.

The only negative is that the hotel does not offer free WiFi and charges 35us for 2hrs usage (which we were told is the same story with all hotels in Sharm).

Room Tip: Building 2 offers slightly more contemporary accommodation than 1 and away from the disco noise out...
