Wife and I and our 5 kids, 12years up to 29, stayed over New Year 2012/13. Had my doubts the first evening when the Housekeeping staff failed to deliver the 3rd bed for our room and when we got back at midnight after 'exploring the resort' there was nowhere for our daughter to sleep. It took 45 minutes for the bed to be delivered by which time I was close to exploding!!!
However, after that set-back we never looked back.
Great beach, easy to walk out along the pontoon to the reef and superb snorkeling.
There are pools absolutely everywhere.....far too many to count, but whilst they are very attractive and provide focal points to laze around, most are unheated and only for the brave in winter. One pool is heated and provided nice warm waters for late afternoon swims on our return from the beach. Red Sea water beautiful and warm.....we bought snorkels etc from the Old Town market, a 30minute walk away. Taxis to the Old Town cost around 60 Egyptian Pounds return.
WiFi is only available in the Reception area, but it was adequate.
Several bars throughout the resort, one of which is open 24 hours.
Live entertainment every evening. Kay and her dance troupe were particularly excellent both in the theatre and at the New Years Eve spectacle. Well done, Kay.
We all loved the Water Park where again the service form all the staff was excellent.
We ate in all the restaurants, apart from the a la carte one which is extra, and the menu was just about varied enough to not get boring. The Indian restaurant was slightly disappointing, but maybe we went on an 'off-night'.
Overall, fabulous experience. I paid a bit extra for this hotel as there were no poor reports on Trip Adviser, and I don't regret it. We only went on one half-day trip (Star Gazing....highly recommended) and despite the fact that we are an active and probably quite demanding family, our boredom threshold was never tested.
