“Third time lucky ...?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

We have just returned from our third visit to Club Magic Life and were a bit concerned that it wouldn't be the same, as we were married in Antigua a month before. However, it was every bit as good as before. We were lucky enough to have the same room as we have the previous two times (a Junior Suite) and some friends who met us over there on our second week. The staff were fabulous as before and we were very lucky with the weather - we had some beautiful days with the sea as still as a pond. This year I did quite a bit of snorkelling and before my husband bought me a mask the life guard was great and kept lending me his!

The only slight downside was the lack of branded spirits in the Eagles Bar which didn't bother me but my husband does like a nice brandy after diner. The other thing was no toasted sandwiches in the Mai Tai at lunchtimes which I did miss but there was plenty of other options to choose from.

The A La Carte restaurants were as good as before and we even had the Gala Diner on Xmas Eve in the Fish restaurant - was nice to be waited on, rather than join the hustle and bustle of the main restaurant.

As it was our honeymoon, we had a nice fruit basket and bottle of wine when we arrived and we were also able to select breakfast in bed one morning - we had this Xmas morning which was great. We ordered it for 7.15 and I was convinced that they would be late, especially on Xmas Morning as I'm sure they were clearing up after the gala diner into the early hours from the night before. However on the dot of 7.15 the tray arrived.

This time I did try the gym a few times - the weight area was quite good but I did find the CV equipment a bit lacking. What was there was old an not very well maintained. However there were staff on hand to help which was a nice touch as you don't often find this in a hotel gym.

Stayed 20th to 27th December after 1 week on Thomson Red Sea Cruise.
Hotel excellent, loved our week here.
Food lovely, so much to choose from, our daughters loved the vegatarian choices.
Rooms comfortable and clean and perhaps do need some updating.
I emailed the hotel beforehand to request two top floor rooms near to each other in a quiet area, and got exactly that.
Likes-- staff, cocktails ( they are strong ) coffees at tower, free safe/kettle/fridge in room, comfy bed, free internet.
Dislikes--constant selling of spa treatments, sunbed saving even though plenty of sunbeds by pool and beach.
I would return if revisiting Sharm and recommend to friends.

Massive 'gated' complex set in beautifully maintained gardens. Private beachfront & jetty. 20 minutes from airport, under flight-path but unaffects enjoyment.
Accommodation:
Having read previous reviews we requested room in quiet location, (blocks 21/22). Allocated perfect top-floor room, (3rd floor), over-looking quiet area pool. Spectacular sunrises. Be warned; 'beach night-club' in resort behind- excessively loud music, (esp Tues), pumping til 4am+, but didn't disturb us unduly. Think Magic Life will need to address this issue as may have difficulty describing this area as 'quiet' at night! Blocks 14/15/16 near to rest of pools complex central to activities/events so noisy. Spacious clean rooms, walk-in shower, sockets dodgy,(had to jam our adaptor in with water bottle for secure fit!) Would have liked balcony sun-lounger on ours providing option of 'staying put' on occasions, (esp as we didn't use pools much).
Entertainment/Activities.
Masses to do throughout day & evening, (including Amphitheatre).
Need to consult numerous noticeboards around complex for info. More details required as insufficently detailed. Eg. Would have liked to do mountain biking but discovered age restrictions, (not advertised). 14-16 yrs teen rides. 16+ to join adults on short local scenic ride which is a shame as families cannot go together, (refused private rental request). Archery. When arrived at appointed time advised preference was given to those attending on daily basis! (not indicated).
Food/Resturants.
Wide selection of plentiful food each meal time with beautiful presentation, (sculptured fruit/veg etc). Felt a bit like school at times, queuing at hotfood stations & dodging others with platefulls!
Great not to have to consider tipping on a daily basis. Central points for this which we used at the end of out stay. Waiting staff incredibly hard-working; sometime asks to change coins for notes, so take plenty of £5 & £10's.
Serrated knives needs, impossible to cut meats with knives provided! Indoor & out-door seating at all meals, great to be able to enjoy breakfast in the morning sun!

Suggestions.
1). Magic Life would benefit from Brit tourist advice/input. Given impression that they 'know what we'd like/want' & not always receptive to suggestion! Found some of young German 'Magic Radio' & entertainment staff rude, arrogant & pushy. Def lack Customer Service skills- believe this is due to their over confidence in language abilities which are in essence basic!
2). Info packs for guests to peruse at leisure in rooms would be an asset. Upon arriving we were totally unsure of Resturant proceedure, acquiring drinks etc. Turns out all drinks are waiter ordered/served at tables.
3). Guest Services Office.
Not sure of 'Executive Secretary', (Carina's), role. Sole member of female staff. Struts around with self-important attitude in spray-on white jeans! Impression given of making great effort to respond when approached for advice/info. Had to request Al a Carte Menus from behind her desk to browse. No offer from her to move from her position to assist with automated booking system! Inflexible booking systems for Al a Carte Resturants; can only book from 9am for next day which negates option if out on early day-trip, likewise Mountain-biking. Bookable at 2pm for next day!
4). Pools.
Need heating. Sadly only used twice as too cold which was HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. We observed 'Quiet area pool' only being used twice by a couple of brave souls during our fortnight stay.
5). Climate.
Often windy & evenings cool. Ladies take cardis/jackets/trousers for after sun-down, (5pm).
6). Most hotels 'gated' & picky with entrance allowance. Believe apart from protecting guests, this protects the tour operators as their tours/trip prices are inflated compared to those available locally, (& you often end up on same trip!)
7). Out of Hotel Complex.
Beware, Culture shock! At every opportunity we were approached with money making opportunities from sales of drinks, trinkets, clothing, 'taxis', scarves, DVD's/fotos, (trips) etc. & even out-right begging from street-kids.Gets exhausting, but visitors are viewed as rich tourists...
Many of so-called 'Bedouin Folk' in reality appear to be gypsies/those choosing an alternative lifestyle. Very adept at exploiting income opportunities, will take any currency.
8). Money changing Machine.
Very useful facility behind reception. Takes most currencies & good rates.

Overall, great hol. Plenty of sun, food & complex so vast enables opportunities to explore & escape.A treat to be waited on 'hand & foot'. Observed 'saddo's' bagging sunbeds prior to sunrise, (6am). Not too many Russian & Germans in Magic Life, but plenty around outside hotel confines!

Room Tip: Top-floor rooms, (3rd) have no roof so more chance of sun. Blocks 21/22 quiet during day but back o...

Lovely hotel. Plenty of pools and eateries. Food Excellent. Relax pool which is good for chilling out. Staff look after you so well. All decked up for christmas and then they did it all for new year. Really go to town for celebrating. There is a coffee shop up the magic Tower this is the best coffee and cakes in the complex. 3 alternative restaurants which you can use 2 of for each weeks holiday, we tried the egyptian and Mai Thai they both were excellent. Rooms cleaned daily, many on trip advisor say rooms need updating. They probably could do with a refurb but are kept very clean and are a nice size.

Room Tip: we had ground floor garden view but couldnt fault it.

Stayed for a week as a follow on from a cruise and was pleasantly surprised as reviews i had read before we went were a bit worrying , rooms were comfortable and clean, a kettle and tea and coffee was great .The buffet restarant was good ,lots to choose from, we booked at the al a,carte with no problem and the food was excellent, we ate lunch at the MaiTai every day choice was amazing ,and coffee and cake in the Cafe Sissi in the tower just as the sun went down was awsome very popular place met the same people each day .The staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble for them. My only complaint was that although the restauran was non smoking it would have been good to have an area outside where you could dine without being surrounded by smokers.Plently of sunloungers around the pools didn,t need to get up at crack of dawn but saying that we spent our days on the beach saw some amazing fish ,coral etc even without a snorkle ,life guards at the piers so felt safe.We would certainly go back .

Room Tip: We were in block 19 which was central to everywhere but ask for an upstairs room , we were on ground...

Just returned from Christmas at the club magic life hotel. What can I say - its a lovely hotel, very clean with friendly staff and lovely surroundings. Christmas Eve was gorgeous and the hotel went to a lot if trouble to make it special. The food is lovely which for an all inclusive hotel is exceptional. The a la carte restaurants are worth a visit especially the Thai restaurant. The only slight negative for this hotel is the rooms - we booked a junior suite with a sea view - I have stayed in better bigger standard rooms at lesser starred hotels. This did not detract from our stay which was really good and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed for 1 week from 14th Dec 2012, rooms were comfortable and clean with all the amenities you need. There is tea and coffee and a kettle with 2 mugs, bottled water is freely available from all the bars, the guest services is where you book the al a'carte restaurants via a machine similar to an ATM machine , just choose your restaurant amd see the times available, we had no trouble booking the ones we wanted and the times we wanted, and we didn't queue for hours, in fact we booked the Egyptian restaurant at about 3pm on the same day we went to it at 7.30pm and I would say it is a fantastic place to eat.
The main buffet restaurant is equally as good lots to choose from and very well presented, the theme nights were excellent too.
All the bars serve a huge selection of cocktails so something for everyone, they also serve the normal beers and wines and sparlikng wine ( Cava) .
If there was one complaint I would only say that the MaiTai restaurant and the Baia restaurant are both open roofed and as such when the weather is cold and windy in the winter, it can be extremely cold in these places, sometimes the hotel hands out blankets to help to keep you warm whilst eating, but they don't keep your food warm, so please make sure in the winter you have a coat / light jacket as this will help.
We had no trouble getting sun loungers at any of the pools or down on the beach, so no need to get up at the crack of dawn placing towels down as some of the customers were doing. very silly.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and look forward to going back again.
The spa is expensive, especially compared to what I pay in the UK at my local gym and also when compared to spa's here in Uk, I would say it is double what I pay here in the UK, shame as had it been reasonably priced I would have used it, but £90 for 45 mins is excessive.
