“Fantastic Holiday, Thank you to all Le Royal Holiday Staff!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

We have just returned from staying at the Le Royal Holiday Resort, 26th May - 6th June 2013.

We arrived greeted by friendly staff offering cocktails. We were taken to our room, we opted for a Superior Room comprising of a Super King Size bed bedside tables, writing desk TV cabinet, 3 piece suite, coffee table double aspect patio door, wardrobe, additional bed and en-suite bathroom with large walk-in shower. Lots of space and sitting area, flat screen TV, English channels with films and sports on all the time.

The Hotel having recently opened and not at full capacity is giving the staff the opportunity to get the service right before going to full capacity, so far the hotel is doing a great job and providing an excellent customer experience. The only area at this stage for me needing tweaking is the evening entertainment programme.

POOL AREA/SLIDES: All pool areas were very clean and the staff were very attentive and helpful. Staff were even on hand to wipe away excess water from the approach area to the pool steps to prevent slips. Most of the slides were open, a new slide was under construction but the area around the construction had been discretely screened off and was very near completion as we left. The WAVE POOL and LAZY RIVER were also under construction. The Wave Pool was visually complete so didn’t look unsightly, the Lazy River was hidden from view unless you really wanted find it you wouldn’t have seen it.
You access all of the slides via a separate steel staircase with wooden treads, which are needed in 40 Deg + Temperatures. A member of staff was at the top of each slide to ensure your safety and to make sure young children didn’t wonder onto the slides without adult supervision. The attendants even walked down the steps to help women and children carry the inflatable rings which were used to ride on.

POOL BARS: Very clean, staff very friendly and once they get to know your needs they bring you drinks without you having to go back to the bar to re-order.

SHOPS: All are open and prices in line with areas outside of the complex so you don’t need to worry about getting inflated prices just because you are within the complex. They are not allowed to approach you to go in their shops so you will not be harassed. The Photo shop has photographers walking around and prints cost £5 for a 6x4

FOOD: There are two main eating areas; The OUTDOOR FOOD COURT and the INDOOR CASCADES RESTAURANT. The food overall was very good. We tended to eat at the outdoor food court during the day and at the indoor restaurant during the evening. The main reason for this was that by the end of the day we preferred to stay in the cool air conditioned surroundings while we were dressed for dinner. The food is better overall in the Outdoor Food Court compared to the Indoor buffet style restaurant. They wash and cook all their food in bottled water so you can eat the fruit etc so DO NOT WORRY ABOUT CLEANLINESS IN THE KITCHEN AREAS THEY ARE SPOTLESS.
CASCADES RESTAURANT STAFF: Our star employee was HANNA, as soon as we entered the restaurant he was there with a smile taking us to our table, asking if we were having a good time and seemed genuinely interested in us, very attentive to our needs, very good with our 10 year old. People like HANNA make a real difference to your holiday; his customer service skills were second to none. The restaurant manager HAMZA was always there checking on us and was there as we exited the restaurant to wish us a good evening and check we were happy.
FOOD COURT STAFF: Star staff member REDA fantastic customer service very funny and brilliant with kids!! Also MAHMOUD who works on the pizza station.

ENTERTAINMENT:
Kids Club – We didn’t use any of the facilities as our daughter 10 thinks she is too grown up now!! We did however meet the staff a few times and see them interacting with the children Nicole, Beth and Adam were brilliant. They were friendly, professional, and helpful.
The kids club is free! They run them from 10am - 12pm, 2pm -4pm and 4.30pm - 6.30pm. There is a 24hr security guard outside the kids club at all times.

TLC ENTERTAINMENT: These guys’ are responsible for the rest of us, Adults and all the children who don’t go to the Kids Clubs. The Team as a whole are fantastic. The first member of the team to approach us was GEORGIE she was fantastic with our daughter Leah and made our first few days that much easier than we could have hoped for; she went the extra mile to keep her entertained along with all the other kids. GINA was great always smiling and went out of her way to come to see you make sure you were having a good time and suggest activities for the day. For me, ADRIANO was the Star of the team, his approach was professional, inspirational and motivational everything you could hope for from an entertainer. He knew how to motivate people without being too pushy, if you want to join in great if not that’s fine that kind of approach. He was funny and very good with all the children and adults alike. In our opinion ADRIANO should be the Team Manager of the Hotel Entertainment Team. Any new members coming into the team would benefit greatly from being coached by ADRIANO. Another team member was (Jimmy) I didn’t see him around the pool very often he was the DJ on an evening, he could do with a little coaching from ADRIANO I feel. JIMMY was a little shy when using the microphone and unsure what to say from time to time and overall the weakest member of the team and the least professional but all the same seemed to be a nice guy just perhaps not suited to his particular role. Often music would stop and a couple of times music was played which due to certain words in the song not suitable for young children.
Outside Evening Entertainment: Local Dancers came on a couple of occasions and were good however they were not organised well while at the hotel. While a male dancer was performing the 4 female dancers having finished their set having got changed, preceded to exit the stair case directly behind the entertainment area which just looked unprofessional. Entertainment on an evening fell short of the mark overall and needs to be improved. I did speak to the Hotel General Manager DENIS DERNAULT and he assures me the he is looking at improvements and is addressing these issues moving forward.

HOTEL MANAGEMENT: DENIS, the General Manager is very approachable and professional. If you have any issue please ask to speak to him, he is there to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as possible and will do whatever he can to help you. He has done an exceptional job so far to get the hotel where it is and ensures that all the staff are making you feel welcome and respected at all times.

RECEPTION: Very professional, friendly and helpful. Especially, Kholoud one of only two female staff in the hotel and Mahmoud. Both will do their very best to help you any way they can to ensure your comfort and happiness.

DOCTOR: There is a clinic on-site which is open from around 11am until around 3pm. It is located within one of the accommodation blocks opposite the shops, there are no signs on the outside of the building or inside to direct you but this is an advantage rather than a disadvantage. We visited the Doctor as we got stung by a bee, it was black and white so this concerned us. We went to a member of the entertainment team who told us it would be best to get it checked. We captured the offending insect and took it to the clinic. The Doctor told us to take a seat, looked at the insect and told us it was nothing to worry about gave us antihistamine tablets and cream and then gave us a bill for 40 euro’s (why euro’s not UK or Egypt pounds we don’t know) We went reception to voice our concern of the charge for a 60 second consultation and we got the bill reduced to £17. I spoke to DENIS the General Manger and he understood our concerns and told us that the Doctor is not directly employed by the Hotel but contracted out, he assured us that he would review this procedure to ensure people are made aware of costs prior to any consultation taking place moving forward.

THOMAS COOK OUTINGS – Book with them if you want but we used a guy who visits the hotel every few days. Special shout out to Mikey Blue Eyes/Diamond Geezer from LUNA FUN. We booked a Snorkelling trip to Tiran Island which cost £25 adult £15 Children. Thomas Cook £45 for Adults. We went on a boat called SAMIRA we had a great trip, great snorkelling, food & drinks included. Plenty of life Jackets and great staff. The entertainment team arrange a weekly trip to SOHO SQUARE it only costs £2.50 Adult Children under 10 free. It leaves the hotel at 9.30 and picks up at 11.30. The area is full shops selling clothing, accessories, restaurants, an ice rink, ice bar, oxygen bar, shisha bars. It does have a water fountain light show but it wasn’t working on the night we went. You can get round in about 20 mins.

CAMEL RIDES: Just outside the grounds of SOHO SQUARE at the bottom end are camels to ride. We asked the security guard if they were reputable as we had heard horror stories about local camel rides. We paid £20, you can get cheaper if you want but we thought this was ok and the guy in charge was nice, we had a problem getting decent photo in the dark with our camera, he made sure we got a decent photo before letting us go and even said we could come back in the day time a and have a picture for free if we wanted.

CLEANING STAFF: Our cleaner was SAMIR he was great with our daughter making her laugh everyday and very helpful. He went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and made some fab towel art for our daughter. We were in room 1101 which is the first block on the left as you exit the rear of the main reception area.

LOCAL BEACH: Ok, this hotel is not in a beachside location. The hotel have a free bus which will take you to its sister hotel the SONESTA BEACH, then a short walk through the hotel you will find the beach. Le Royal has its own allocated space which is elevated from the main beach area with fine clean sand. An all inclusive drinks bar with waiter service is provided free of charge for you. The beach itself is not fantastic, you will need foot-ware to walk into the sea as there are a lot of rocks just below the surface this is an advantage if you want to see fish though. There is a floating jetty which takes you out a little further, if you look over the edge you will see a range of tropical fish without having to enter the water.

MOSQUITOES: The hotel sprays the grounds daily. We took WILKO own 50% Deet spray and didn’t get one bite between us.

TUMMY TROUBLE: If you get one it will probably be due to the temp difference between UK and EGYPT, first port of call GO TO RECEPTION!!! It is the safest option, we spoke to other guests who had an upsetting experience outside of the hotel complex in one of the Pharmacies. The hotel reception will send a porter to the local chemist to buy tablets and bring them to your room. (ANTINAL) It will cost £1, if you go outside yourself they will cost around£5. Imodium ect from UK won’t work.

CHECK OUT: The day before we left we asked to keep our room until 1.30pm and this was organised for us at no extra cost. You do need to contact reception to organise this as your room card key will not operate on your day of departure past 12 mid-day unless you do! There were no unexpected charges on the account which is always a good sign!

Overall, I would say this was a fantastic holiday do not hesitate in booking this Hotel it is lovely, the rooms spacious and clean. The Management have done a fantastic job to get the hotel up and running in the time-frame and within a couple of months should be completely up to speed.
If you are looking for uninterrupted sunshine, a modern, clean hotel with amazing friendly staff and safe good quality food then Le Royal Holiday Resort Sharm El Seikh is the perfect choice!

Thank you to all of the Staff at Le Royal: MARTIN, ANGELA & LEAH

Room Tip: 1101 right next to main restaurant and bars.

We have just returned from a week in this hotel and I would highly recommend it. The staff were very friendly and very helpful if we wanted anything.

We booked a deluxe superior room which was fantastic, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was huge! The air conditioning was working fine and we needed it on all the time!

The pool and bar areas ae kept clean and tidy and there were always plenty of sunbeds to choose from. My partner especially enjoyed the waterslides!!

The food was lovely and there were plenty of options between the food court and the main restaurant. We mainly ate in the restaurant simply because it was cooler.

There are plenty of trips available. We went on the social night into Naama Bay which was very good and because we were in a big group we didnt get any mither.
The beach is across the road and the hotel provide a shuttle bus. We found it easier to walk there it took about 5mins. There are plenty of sunbeds and towels at the beach and a bar for Le Royal customers.

We did need plenty of money for tips for the cleaner/bar staff/pool attendants etc but it was well worth it as they did work very hard to make sure we had everything that we needed.

Having recently stayed at this property for a week, I would almost certainly recommend this hotel to both couples and families.

With reservations of staying here being a new build, we were pleasantly surprised by the warm meet and greet from the staff upon arrival, followed by cool towels and a welcome drink. The check in process was smooth and quick, with our luggage being taken to our rooms immediately.

We booked a Family Room, which was spacious, clean, with a large bathroom. The beds are were definitely the WOW factor in the rooms. Suffering from a back injury, I did not complain of back ache once whilst there! The rooms were serviced daily, with Ahmed leaving plenty of water and fluffy towels in the room. Thank you Ahmed!

The pool areas are suitable for both couples and families. Smaller pools for the quieter folks, whilst the larger pool for those who prefer entertainment and music.

The 2 main areas to dine were the main restaurant and the food court.
If I would suggest to Le Royal, maybe to dim the lights during the evening in the main restaurant? It was far too bright in the evening, not giving the restaurant a warmer inviting atmosphere. Apart from that, food was good ( more vegetarian options please) but staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble.
Hamza, the restaurant manager was excellent. He kindly arranged for my son to have breakfast in the room on one occasion due to feeling too tired!

The Sky Bar is a wonderful bar located on the roof. Another suggestion would be to have a shisha area here?

There are too many people to thank and mention as the credit should go to the staff that work here. They make all the difference to the holiday makers experience.

Special thanks to the GM also who wowed me by recalling my name from my email sent via Face book. Definitely engaged with his guests and takes a genuine interest. Thank you!

We are planning a return trip in October/ November as we really enjoyed our stay!

Since returning from Le Royale, which was one of the best weeks of our families lives! We Arrived Sun 26th May for one week and were all so sad to leave!
Yes, some things needed finishing, I have no doubt that most probably already are, but the works were being carried out discreetly and considerately.
The location, accommodation & facilities were all fantastic but our holiday was made by the fantastic staff who ALL went out of their way to look after us! You may argue that in a 5 star resort this should be a given but we all know that isn't the case! However, the staff at Le Royale, and I include the security, doormen, gardeners, porters, chefs, the staff that don't often get a mention, all made us feel welcomed & safe, ensuring that we were looked after.
An extra special mention should go to Mohamed in the food court, who was so friendly, welcoming & efficient that we felt we'd made a friend! (We know, he was just doing his job! But he did it wonderfully!) In fact to all staff at the food court, the atmosphere and food were wonderful, day and night! The Assistant Food and drink manager Marcos, again so wonderfully friendly & welcoming. Hanna, Sherrif and all in Cascades, I wish I could name you all, as to us, you were wonderful. Ahmed, our fantastic room attendant who kept our room perfectly clean, stocked & left the most wonderful towel art surprises! Even our Thomas Cook rep Tarek, was superb! So friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, again going out of his way to ensure that we had a fantastic time! And of course you Denis, I know you'll read this, thank you! We really did have the most fantastic time in your wonderful hotel. Denis took the time, every day of our holiday, just to stop and say hello and ensure that everything was to our satisfaction.
Thank you to the pool guys who brought towels, opened parasols, cleaned sunglasses! The guys on the water slides who ran down from the top to help us up to the top with our inflatables! The pool barmen who came and took orders at the poolside and delivered drinks, even bringing fresh fruit! These little things really made a difference. I really wish I had taken the name of every member of staff to mention you all but please know that we felt that you did a wonderful job and we really appreciate the service that we received.
And yes, the cocktail and cold towel on arrival was a wonderful touch, we knew right then that we had made the right choice when booking an unopened hotel with no reviews!
I can't begin to tell you what a good time we had and what wonderful memories we have of our first visit to Egypt! It won't be our last, we can't wait to go back to Le Royale and won't even look at staying in another hotel!

Room Tip: As a family of 4 ( 2 children aged 9 & 7) we asked for a quiet room and were located centrally o...

This was the holiday from hell. Mainly because of the heat and the stomach bug that was going round the hotel. Most days the temperature was 42 degrees C and it was like being in a fan oven. 2pm to 4pm was unbearable. Even in the evening trying to watch the poor entertainment the hot wind kept drying my eyes out.
5 out of the 7 days one of us was affected by the stomach bug that we had caught in the hotel. We were perfectly healthy on arrival. This restricted us to being within a short run to a toilet and ruined the holiday. It seemed like everyone we spoke to had been affected to some extent. The staff seem to think it is normal and some just joked about it. It was called pharaohs revenge. It is not what I would expect from a supposed 5 star hotel.
There is no way this hotel should currently be a 5 star hotel. Apart from the kids club, pools and slides there are no other facilities. I have uploaded a photo of the "gym" which is in the hotel next door and comprises 1 weights machine and 1 bike and is not air conditioned (in 42 degree heat). The main pool could do with a swim up bar which would keep the hoards of drunk geordies and Welsh from monopolising the steps. There is a choice of the main restaurant or the food hall. The food hall seemed to have a better choice of food and better service but is out in the scorching heat.
The service is fairly poor. There is a waiter service around the main pool and the pool with the slides but only in areas that the bar men could be bothered to walk to. There is no chance of getting a drink brought to you at the quiet pool. When my wife asked for a drink she was told that it is too far and can we bring all glasses back as it to too far to collect them. The wait for drinks in the main restaurant is very slow. If you would like a drink before your dessert I go in with one. One night I was most of the way through my dinner and got fed up of wait and went to the bar in reception and still got back to the table before my drink arrived.
This hotel should not advertise the private beach. It is across the road through another hotel full of Russians and it is horrendous. The beds are crammed as tightly as possible about 10 rows deep from the hotel to the sea. The sea at the beach is just slippery rocks that is so shallow that you could stand 200m out from the beach with the sea up to your knees.
The Egyptian staff are very friendly but they will lie to you to try to get a tip.

Pros
Rooms are very nice.
Water park and kids slides are brilliant.
The kids club was terrific.
Cons
Food very average and will give you the runs.
Service in main restaurant is very slow and not very attentive, service much better in food court.
Room servicing is not very thorough. Neither is the cleaning of the communal toilets. I spotted faeces smeared on the wall in the toilet in the reception. It was still there 4 days later.
Too many drunk geordies and Welsh.
The "beach" via the sonesta hotel is horrendous and they would do best not to advertise this at all.

Dear Piers E,

We would like to thank you for returning your comments and to have selected our resort for your Sharm El Sheikh vacation.

I am extremely concerned to read of your experience which is perfectly atypical to Le Royal Holiday Resort spirit and customer service orientation. I hope that the party in your group that has felt unwell has now recovered from his/her health disturbance, and on behalf of all the Employees, I am conveying all my sympathy to this former patron.

However, people do get sick even on vacation and implicate the resort when there is a minimum of 30 degrees Celsius difference with your original provenance is, without offence, a very light statement. It is known that customers who are sensitive and not accustomed to this kind of temperature should only expose themselves gradually day by day and avoid drinking more liquors than usual. 12 degrees at home or less, 42 degrees in the leisure areas, 20 degrees or less in the air-conditioned room is a potential hazardous mix…
Furthermore, it is important to wash hands frequently, individuals have different standard of hygiene, and I particularly think of handling the local money, visiting shops in Naama Bay or away where thousands of prospective clients have touched the same articles: bacteria love hot tropical weather!

Your feedback on customer service is highly surprising and in contrast, at this point, with all guests returns. Nevertheless, we will certainly review the points mentioned on the subject and adjust wherever findings will emerge. I am so sorry that you have not come forward to manifest your discontentment that we could have probably accommodated…

Finally, hotels are welcoming all type of nationalities and within the same kingdom, various regions. We are sad that you have not felt at ease with your own citizens from Newcastle or Wales, no disbelief that the Russian at the beach in the other hotel were a nuisance.

Dear Piers E, please accept my sincere apologies that your stay with us was not as memorable as anticipated. I do hope that this experience will not deter you from visiting Sharm El Sheikh in the future. Do let me know if I could be of any assistance or when the time is right, allow me personally the opportunity to restore your confidence in the hospitality that Le Royal Holiday Resort has lately established.

Very Best regards,

Denis Dernault

Fantastic rooms - we had a large contemporary suite which was maintained to a high standard.

Cincin pool - this is a fabulous pool area which has the WOW factor.

Great staff - special mention to Romany,Emad and Nageeb at the Cincin pool bar who would ever see us without a drink, 'Mr Bobby' says thank you guys, you were great. Mohamed at the Food Court who was very knowledgeable about Egyptian customs and gave us great advice regarding the price of blue / white taxis!

Food - very poor. This was our 6th visit to Sharm el Sheikh having stayed previously in hotels at Sharks Bay and Nabq Bay, therefore we knew what to expect when it came to food in Egypt. However the food in the main restaurant was never hot. At times it was warm but most times it was cold and the the food was not replenished quick enough. It appeared that they waited until a tray was completely empty before they would replenish. We were not the only couple that noticed this. We used the Food Court quite a bit as the food was always hot and fresh. However at night times with it not being air conditioned, it was very hot!

This hotel has great potential, the Aqua Park is going to rival Cleo Park in Na'ama Bay. I did not go on the slides as I am a wuss but my partner had a daft half hour where he went back to his childhood whizzing down the slides. He says the black / white stripey slide is the best! At the moment though, building work is still going on around this area, therefore the grounds and the pool were full of sand and dust.

It is a shame that I have had to provide negative comments regarding the food as we did have an enjoyable stay. This is a very friendly hotel and we met some lovely people. We got a great deal for 2 weeks at this hotel. I would expect the price to double by this time next year. However if this hotel wants to compete with the 5+ hotels in Egypt, the situation with the food has to be addressed.

Dear NewcastleMandB,

We are grateful that you have shared here your comments and are thankful for your stay at Le Royal Holiday Resort.

We are delighted to read that you had an enjoyable holiday but sorry at the same time, to learn the mark given to the cuisine. We believe that the rating attributed is not due to quality or variety but food temperature; we will adjust on the mentioned accordingly. Fortunately, this matter has not impacted your entire vacation experience.

We hope to be of your service again in the close future.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

This was my first trip to Egypt and won't be our last. We stayed the last week of May and the hotel had only been open about 4 weeks. When we arrived we were given a lovely drink & a cold towel to freshen up with. We had a great room facing the pool room 1708 the house keeper was wonderful. While we were there it was our wedding anniversary & the staff organised a table for us all decorated along with a cake to make our evening extra special which was a lovely touch. The food was a good standard you could get for breakfast pancakes, waffles, cereal, omelette etc, lunch was chips, burger, pizza, stir fry etc, dinner was chicken, fresh pasta, cakes, there was plenty of choice. The slides where great the only problem was they could do with some more matts & rings. The lads by the aqua park pool bar never stop always making sure you have a drink. The entertainment team worked hard and was always pleasant.

Room Tip: Room 1708 was in the middle of the complex
