“Better than expected ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

It was mainly due to the ridiculous price of flights to Bangkok that prevented my partner and I from venturing to our favourite Indo China destinations.
So out of a desire to travel and go to somewhere different with some sun we ended up in Sharm, it took some convincing mind as I am not one for sat around doing nothing, but the price helped and indeed the opportunity to try a cruise the following week, once again not my first choice.

So after much deliberation we booked the Nubian Village for 1 week and a Thomson Red Sea Cruise the following week.

The hotel was excellent, very clean and not in the least bit shabby. The grounds were excellent as was the beach which again was clean with plenty of sunbeds.
Rooms were cleaned daily and our chap was very helpful and went beyond the call of duty to help when asked.

Food was wonderful as were the choices which remained varied the entire week, we stayed during New Year and the food and displays on the gala evening were spectacular. Although the service is buffet style there were never any shortage of waiters fetching your drink orders.

The hotel did its best to provide evening entertainment but this was not our cup of tea and to be honest was pretty dire. We ventured out to the bars near TGI Fridays, I would recommend the Three Crowns nearby .. great atmosphere and after some haggling and arm waving it was just a few quid in a taxi or a 25 minute walk.

There are many mentions of the Russians on these reviews, yes some are rude and abrupt and dont know the meaning of please and thank you, but hey thats their problem and it did not spoil our holiday. In fact it added some childish amusement to our own after dinner entertainment as we watched the Russians cramming vast amounts of food onto dinner plates, one family in particular got their charming kids (not) to go and fill their plates with food from the BBQ. The quantity of kebabs on that plate and the way it was balanced was a miracle of modern engineering from someone so young, that kid will build bridges one day.
Do our Soviet friends not have Coco-Pops in their homeland, if so the guy who ate 6 huge bowls for breakfast doesn’t know where to buy them.
The other game we played was guess who is going home that night, all I can say is that there must be a shortage of oranges in Russia. The amount of fruit taken out in bags and ruksacs would crack most scales at the airport weigh-in, never mind the cost of excess baggage.
Yes the Russians can be a pain if you let them .. clearly we didn’t.

Sharm itself isnt a pretty place and other than a few bars as mentioned there isnt a lot to go there for. A lot of people never strayed from the hotel due to the hassle you get from pushy taxi drivers and shop owners, just ignore them and walk on. They mean you know harm they have not yet sussed out that when they hassle they push you away. We ventured to the old market one day, which is worth a trip, go late in the day (£13 return by taxi)
As for other activities to add variety we went quad biking in the desert which was great fun and I went diving which was excellent as was Ocean College who looked after me on their wonderful boat, great day out and great guys .. well recommended.

Warning .. do not go on a camel, its one price to get on it, its several times as much to get off it. Dont even take a photo of them. Its a rip off and one that we witnessed as a family visibly upset tried to negotiate themselves out of a costly 5 minute ride for their 2 children

Would I go back to Sharm .. no there is no need, not enough to do and I feel I have “done it” Its a beach and hotel holiday, I have no regrets having done it, but I want more and was soon looking forward to our cruise the following week.

We spent 10 days here our 1st Xmas break and the staff were so friendly and polite we have been to sharm 5 times each time a different hotel and this was the best service and food, my daughter is a vegetarian and the chefs put themselves out to make her dishes what she fancied and she said they were all very good.

The only down side was when a lot of Italians came 2 days before Xmas the animation team took over the whole ares of the heated pool and were very loud and only included the Italian guests so instead of alternating our days round the 2 pools we stayed at the other the animation there were brilliant but it had been nice to sit by the other pool near the beach all the english guests were not happy this was allowed to happen

Here from 29 Nov for 2 weeks. All staff were great especially Lily, Adam and Sam from animation. Hannah and Emre left during our first week and I find it hard to believe that Ice the animation Manager did not step in to help these guys who worked their socks off to give us a great time when 2 staff down but he just walked around trying to look important. Shady from the pool deserves a special mention for always finding me a newer towel. All the staff we came into contact with were helpful and friendly. Yes the hotel was 90% Russian guests but these were no problem and always spoke if we spoke to them. Sometimes the food was not very hot but that is the same in most buffet service. Seyed and Elsaid at the pool bar were great and soon knew what drinks to serve us.

The supermarket opposite was fine but if you go out of the hotel and turn right and walk for about 20 minutes there are some great shops, a large supermarket and for those that must have it a Macdonalds and KFC. Be careful when walking as most pavements seem to have curbs that vary from about 4ins to 12ins!!!

Taxi for 5 of us into the main shops one evening cost us 150 Egyptian Pounds for the return trip, booked at Reception, and the driver dropped us by the police station and picked us up there at the agreed time later. We paid him when we got back to the hotel. Bargain at about £3 each.

All in all a really good holiday and if I was returning to the area would happily stay here again. As I know the staff read these : don't be lazy don't be shy so aerobics before you die and Adam and Sam remember no peepee in the water xxx

Stayed here for 2 weeks in November had a great time the staff were very helpful and very pleasant couldn't do enough for you. The bar waiters didn't take long to no what your tipple was and it was promptly brought to you thank you wael safwat in the lobby bar. The entertainment team were great didn't push you to join in but very friendly special mention to miss Lily, Gary, Adam and Sam and don't forget to see SAMs amazing fire show at the sister hotel next door. The food was well cooked and varied don't see what else they could have done. All in all a very enjoyable holiday forget about the Russians yes they are pushy but I think it is there culture not all of them are bad even heard one say thank you. Yes we would come back good value for the price we paid.

General review of the hotel is pretty good, nice hotel staff, clean rooms, good food! Entertainment was a major let down as its very centered around the Russian guests. You are pestered daily by the poolside to buy trips, beauty treatments which after much pestering we gave in and bought our son a Henna Tattoo, he advised that he could have it done for the second time for free when we left, so we agreed and went ahead. Last day and my son went to have his second top up, we were horrified to find that after a few hours of it being on his skin he had a terrible reaction to it and it started to raise and blister!! When we got home we took him to the doctors and to our horror he had an alergic chemical reaction to it as they used Black Henna which should never be used! He had a dragon the whole length of his back and is now scared as if someone had used a branding iron on his back... Wouldnt recommend this hotel if your looking for family entertainment or a quiet relax by the poolside and as for the Henna situation, that guy should be Branded himself with a hot iron!!!

I stayed in this hotel for 10 nights(23rd nov-3rd dec) eight adults and two children aged 4&6. The weather was fantastic every day 30+.My children loved the water slides and the outside pool bar where they could have all the drinks and ice-cream they could eat. Seyed at the pool bar was lovely he always made effort to speak to you service with a smile. All the staff were frendly from the toilet attendent to the gardeners. The food was good there is so much choice..There were a lot of russians about 75%russian 15% italian 10% english. The russians was not that bad tried to talk to a few when i had a drink they dont smile much and like their alcohol. The Animation team were good and entertaining Hannah was from essex and she was lovely always made and effort to talk to us and gave us lots of handy info my children adored her she i felt like she was part of our family also EmRe he is from Turkey and spoke english he was so friendly and funny and made effort to come and speak to us he was always around when you needed him, very helpfull and a pleasure to talk to. I was not that keen on their boss his name is ice i think he should ease up on them a bit Adam was cool to and fit. The sea was lovely.i would go back again but the should cater for the english a bit more.

Room Tip: room 219 was massive
