Stayed here February half term with my husband, please read everything, it will help...
The hotel is clean and tidy, apart from a smell of sick by the sofa by the bar, but if you are English you will find yourself very much in the minority. We asked for a double room but were put in a twin. .The room was nice with a lovely view, apart from the broken shower tray and television that had volume problems. We did tell reception about the telly and they said they would change it, but didn't. The water was brownish in colour and I had an upset stomach for most of the week even though I used bottled water for everything.
The hotel is out of way and there was only one street to wonder up and down in the evening but you are pestered to death by the shop keepers. We took the shuttle bus into Naama Bay and were literally hijacked off the bus into a shop!
The bar shuts at 11.00 and one night we were made to leave early as they had to prepare for a disco, which they had already done! The entertainment is quite boring, Mr and Mrs Coral Beach, which co-incidently was won by one the reps friends, eemmmmm. Also, the entertainment is mostly aimed at the Russains and they forget to tell you whats going on in English. Katie the English rep is lovely but the tall blond rep will only speak to her fellow partriots.
There are a lot of steps but I think they are worth it as the beach areas are lovely for adults but I wouldn't bother if you require buckets and spades as they are man made and theres no 'digging' sand. The only way to the sea is via pontoon as it is rocky down to the beach.
You WILL be pestered daily by the Spa staff but try and remember they have very little revenue coming in and are struggling i think.
I think my biggest gripe would be the food. I am quite open to trying other cultures foods as you get some nice surprises but they serve the same things every day, with a small alteration to meat, you will find vats of rice, vegetable and salads taking up 90% of the buffett and you will find a 'served' 2 meat/fish (whole fish everytime) selection (on 3 occassions chicken wings in a different sort of sauce). There is pizza outside everyday. TOP TIP, if you want a cheese cob and chips ask, and they will do it for you. Also I hope you like eggs, there's lots of them. The food is mainly aimed at the Russain folk. I THINK THE WORST THING WAS THAT ONE DAY I SAW A LOCAL FAMILY (WHO LIKE TO MAKE THEIR TABLES LIKE BANQUETS) ACTUALLY PUT FOOD BACK, YES YOU READ RIGHT, PUT FOOD BACK!!!!
And also the toilets in reception are disgusting by the end of the day. I'm sorry to be so negative but this is the absolute true perspective and I'm not fussy!!
They will ask you if you want to upgrade to a seaview but most rooms already have it. Ask for secon...
