We're just back from a fantastic week-long stay at the Ritz-Carlton. Having read some of the other reviews, I had reservations about staying at this hotel, but I'm really glad we did.

From the moment we arrived, the staff in the hotel were extremely attentive - from the desk staff to the pool attendant to the waiters in the restaurant. Our room was very nicely appointed with two double beds and a lot of space. The bathroom was also spacious and there was a nice balcony area. The pool, beach and garden areas at the hotel are beautifully taken care of.

The purpose of our trip was a relaxing break and it certainly lived up to that. The food in the hotel was very good, the breakfast and evening buffets (when we sampled them) had a lot of variation.

We had massages every day. They were reasonably priced by Irish standards, but beware of the government taxes, service charge and gratuity which are not included in the advertised prices.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we are considering returning in October for a week.

On the downside, the entrance to the hotel is not finished and doesn't look inviting. Also, having been in some of the other Ritz-Carltons, this is more four-star than five, but I think that it's reflected in the pricing. However, I'm very pleased to say that, without doubt, this hotel has excellent service and staff who are willing to go the extra mile to make your stay extra special.

If you're thinking of staying in the area, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

  • Liked — The service from the staff.
  • Disliked — The entrance to the hotel.

We read the reviews published and with a great deal of trepidation and much discussion we finally decided that we would risk our holiday - HOW FORTUNATE - yes there were a few problems - there almost always is - but these were quickly and pleasantly solved - the main restaurant seved a very good selection of food. The staff were helpful very pleasant all their various tasks appeared to be of no problem to them and we experienced nothing but courtesy. Food and drink is not cheap but this is a 5star environment with all of the facilities - our view - if you want cheap choose somewhere different - Club up-grade worth every penny!

I cannot believe some of the reviews written about this hotel! Just back from a week's holiday with my boyfriend and had a complete 5 star experience.

We had a standard sea view room and whilst the view was obscured, it was perfectly adequate. I worried about the reviews that I read about only booking Club rooms and investigated upgrading but decided it was just too expensive. How glad I am that I didn't! The room was lovely - very spacious, good furnishing, plenty of marble and opulence. The bathroom was fine.

The food was superb, although as with most hotels, I imagine that those on standard half board may get bored with the evening buffet option. La Luna in particular was a delight. Breakfast was good and the staff highly attentive. The hotel was fairly busy and we never waited long for tea/coffee as suggested by others.

Drinks at the bar are expensive but that is in keeping with all 5 star spots, and there was a handy general store at the top of the road for supplies for the large fridge in your room. Also, make sure you get the right currency in the Spa - the prices swap from Egyptian pounds to Euros to dollars!

All in all, superb!

  • Liked — Stunning sea, great swimming/sun bathing, clean hotel and well kept grounds
  • Disliked — Pricey drinks

We booked our trip through dream ticket . I have stayed in many ritz carltons and many other hotels around the world and this by far has to be the WORST customer service hotel when it comes to desk staff. The staff were extremely arrogant and rude towards us when we came to them with a problem regarding the half board that we booked through dream ticket. We were assured that we could choose either lunch or dinner we confirmed this with both the agent in uk and in sharm, however when it came to paying the person at the desk they simply said that this was not the case and that we would have to pay. when we explained what we had been told she said this is not possible as they do not have the systems to cater for this. Her attitude was hostile and not at all what we hve come to expect from the ritz carlton!!

However all of the other staff could not do more for you and were extremly polite and curteous towards us.

the bathrooms were tired and the beach was dirty the food was also very expensive and not worth the money if you are going to stay here i would advise you stay on bed and breakfast only and go into town for your meals. Apart from that it was a pleasent stay and the weather was lovly!!

  • Liked — The stff who worked in the restrante and rooms
  • Disliked — the terrible attitude of the desk staff!!!

Me and my partner have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Ritz Carlton and we were overall very pleased with our stay

we had a few problems - The first room we were given was quite far from the main building and at night there was alot of noise coming from a neighbouring hotel - we did complain to reception and in the morning a manager came and found us and we were moved (and upgraded) straight away

The staff were exceptionally friendly and there English is impecable - The hotel was very clean and the club lounge was superb

I would say to people if they did find any problems to go and tell someone rather than stew over it for a week and let it ruin your experience as we found the staff were more than happy to help.

  • Liked — Clean/ modern
  • Disliked — Bathrooms were a little tired
