We're just back from a fantastic week-long stay at the Ritz-Carlton. Having read some of the other reviews, I had reservations about staying at this hotel, but I'm really glad we did.
From the moment we arrived, the staff in the hotel were extremely attentive - from the desk staff to the pool attendant to the waiters in the restaurant. Our room was very nicely appointed with two double beds and a lot of space. The bathroom was also spacious and there was a nice balcony area. The pool, beach and garden areas at the hotel are beautifully taken care of.
The purpose of our trip was a relaxing break and it certainly lived up to that. The food in the hotel was very good, the breakfast and evening buffets (when we sampled them) had a lot of variation.
We had massages every day. They were reasonably priced by Irish standards, but beware of the government taxes, service charge and gratuity which are not included in the advertised prices.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we are considering returning in October for a week.
On the downside, the entrance to the hotel is not finished and doesn't look inviting. Also, having been in some of the other Ritz-Carltons, this is more four-star than five, but I think that it's reflected in the pricing. However, I'm very pleased to say that, without doubt, this hotel has excellent service and staff who are willing to go the extra mile to make your stay extra special.
If you're thinking of staying in the area, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
