“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

Well where to start! We went Sept 22 - 29th 2013 and didn't really know what to expect. We couldn't have wished for more. The staff were amazing and couldn't do more. Anyone who can find fault with the staff must be cracked! (Mo the Thomson Rep was also very helpful). Anything you wanted they either provided or sorted out. The hotel was spotless and the room guys couldn't clean anymore than they did! We had the superior double and were very pleased with it. Large bed / bathroom and loads of storage space. We didn't go by the pool but chose the beach each day. Spotless, hot and the beach staff were on hand for any help. Guys did walk around asking regarding the spa however when you collected your towels you could pick up a sign you put by your beds saying "Do not disturb" and they never did. Youssef needs an award for energy! He is very funny and got people involved and took an interest in all even if they didn't play his games! He is an absolute credit to the hotel (as are all the staff I'm just sorry I didn't pick up more names!) The food - well we read on here that it was bland?? I'm not quite sure where that comes from? The food was top notch. The beach bar served fantastic pizzas / sandwiches / burgers during the day (if that is what you fancied) and all cooked to order. The service was super fast and the staff on the bar were fab (seeing a trend!). If you fancied something more substantial you could go to the main restaurant and have anything you wanted. If they didn't have it you could ask and they would do their best to provide it for you. Evening meals were delicious - curries, stews, fish, bbq, salads, vegetarian - we could go on for ever. You could see that hygiene played a bit part in the food prep / service with constant hand washing / sanitisers etc. There were lots of jokes before we went about upset tummies but I can honestly say we never heard of one person complaining whilst we were there. When we booked we didn't realise it was a couples hotel (not sure how we missed that!) and this was an added bonus! No children screaming around or stressed out parents having melt downs just lovely hot sun and complete chill out. This only added to the experience. Note: guys have to wear long trousers in the restaurant at night so don't overlook this. For the likes of my husband who doesn't like to just sunbathe all day there were plenty of trips / activities for him to do and all at a reasonable cost. He loved the quad biking! The hotel also provides a free boat that leaves regularly from the beach out to a beautiful coral reef literally 5 minutes away so you can just get in it anytime and snorkel / dive to your hearts content coming back up to around the late afternoon mark. If I had to add a black mark to the holiday it would be that we had to come home! Looking at going out again before the end of the year and without doubt for 2 weeks next year. Personally I enjoyed this holiday more than the Maldives which takes some beating. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and would ask if they could please take us along with them!! Congratulations to Thomson Holidays on having such a fantastic hotel as part of your team.

Stayed at the Iberotel palace for 7 nights at the end of September, craving some real summer weather (which was lacking in London). This place is kept so immaculately clean and perfectly maintained, the management and staff all work extremely hard to ensure this. It's a small place when compared to most resorts in Sharm and I think being aimed at couples, they have intentionally designed it to be different - for example there's only one real swimming pool and it's not big, though given that they have the best beach in Sharm we didn't feel the need to swim in a pool most days anyway- and you won't find slides or loud house music being played at the beach - everything is just calm and chilled,. The all-inclusive package is really good for drinks, they are very generous and all drinks are server in glasses - my tip here would be that if you are going for spirits, as they are local Egyptian spirits, I found the Gin to be the most tolerable, once I worked this out it was Gin and tonics for me the whole time. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the food was not 5 star - it wasn't bad at all! In fact it was nice and plenty of it, but I've seen better in 5 star resorts. The staff were so polite and nobody pushed for tips, at all, which really surprised me.
Finally the location - right across the street from the Old Sharm Market. We went out to the market on 2 nights and found it to be a lot more interesting that Naama bay - sure people were trying to get your business but they all had a sense of humour when you tell them no thanks. Oh I should mention the cats - many of them and all very cute - I would say the cats are a real bonus and add to the experience.

Thomson do not do this hotel justice in their brochure. After reading tripadvisor reviews we knew it was going to be good, but the hotel surpassed itself.

Our room was kept spotlessly clean and upon arrival we were immediately upgraded, despite already having paid for an upgrade. As our flight was late and we had missed dinner, a buffet plate with sandwiches and salad was sent to our room - much appreciated! The man who cleaned the room went out his way to be friendly, polite and curteous and nothing was too much trouble. And the towel art every day was a nice touch.

The buffet was really good. There was plenty of choice and the food was always fresh and hot. The waiting staff in the restaurant were great - Alaa in particular was wonderful. Friendly, polite and always happy to entertain with toothpick puzzles... The desserts were varied and always delicious. The Italian restaurant was pretty good too and a nice change from the buffet.

The bar staff were great and when sitting outside in the evening, you frequently had a new drink in front of you without having to ask! The entertainment team were really good and were always encouraging people to participate, but were happy to take no for an answer. Danielle and Mo were also great. We dealt more with Mo and he could not have been more helpful - a real credit to Thomsons. During our stay we went to the blankets on the beach night - hosted by Chris and Elle which was lovely - a nice opportunity to chill on the beach by the fire and listening to great music. The event was so popular that a request was made to the entertainment team to repeat this on the friday night - which they did. A great example of the team and the hotel, listening to the feedback they recieved.

A lot of people are commenting on the reserving of sunloungers at the beach and the pool and this is accurate. At the moment, there seems to be more flights coming in and as we left the hotel was much busier and we noticed in the last few days that if you wanted a 'good spot' on the beach you did have to get up and put your towels out early - although i'm not convinced this is a bad thing as it meant we got up at a decent time and enjoyed the sun. That said some sunloungers were reserved all day with no one on them till later in the afternoon, which was a bit annoying.

The Old Sharm market was great. Be warned that due to the lack of tourists, the traders are perhaps slightly more enthusiastic than normal, which is understandable. We noticed that if you allowed yourself to be cooerced into a shop that was game over. It's easier to smile and politely say no thank you while outside the shop.

Unfortunately we had to call out the hotel doctor. The Doctor was very good and very helpful. What impressed us though was the concern that the reception staff showed, enquiring later that evening if we were ok and the following day - much appreciated.

Overall this was a fantastic holiday and we would not bother to look at another hotel when coming back to Sharm - Iberotel Palace has it all.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the gardens are quieter

We stayed for a week at the end of September beginning of October as a young couple on our first all inclusive holiday. We discovered that all inclusive is probably not our cup of tea, but this is not a reflection on the hotel or staff etc, but our own preference, also a week is not long enough!!

We arrived around 9pm and were swiftly whisked off for dinner, then checked in after. The food variety on offer is great. Breakfast- from cereals to hot breakfast to cous cous. Lunch- variety of breads, meats, cheeses, fruit, hot dishes, salads and amazing puddings. The beach bar is also nice as a change for burgers, pizzas, sandwiches. Dinner- similar to lunch in the main restaurant. The Italian is also worth a visit. (You get a voucher for a free meal once per stay, You can go again but you have to pay.) There is also a good selection of drinks, we tried all the cocktails and the white wine is also nice.

The pool area is well maintained, clean and quiet, however sunbeds were generally all reserved before we went to breakfast, despite there being signs against this, maybe the management should take this more seriously as it is highly annoying!

The beach is beautiful, the towel man always remembers you and is very friendly. He will also provide you with a 'do not disturb' sign if you don't want the hassle of people trying to sell you beauty treatments or excursions.

The animation team were great, Youseff is a crazy man with soo much energy and a lot of different hats. He is very entertaining and not intrusive. They put on daily activities such as stretching, water polo, beach volleyball, boules, all great fun. The evening shows were fab, fire shows, belly dancing, walking on glass/nails...excellent entertainment.

The cleaners were top notch, rooms spotless every day, thank you. It is worth taking your snorkel on the boat (free) with Aziz over to the other beach, beautiful corals and fish in touching distance.

The hotel was only at 40% capacity due to the issues in Egypt, this was definitely to our advantage! There is definitely no worries for safety in Sharm, we visited Cairo for the day too and felt very safe, please don't let the media put you off visiting Egypt.

HOTEL: A beautiful sanitised oasis surrounded by a sea of unfinished buildings, broken pavements and more cigarette ends and discarded trash than you would expect. The hotel itself from Reception, Rooms, Restaurant and pool area is top class. Everything is clean and well-kept and the beach is excellent.

FOOD: There is an excellent buffet breakfast with LOADS of choice and the usual egg station-cooked to order. The lunch and dinner buffets in the restaurant, and the beach bar meals, had plenty of choices. The Italian Restaurant was "nothing special" but they tried to make it special by slow service rather than outstanding food. There was one free meal during the stay as part of the package but the restaurant never seemed very well patronised. Overall the food was excellent for the price paid.

BARS: Excellent service by bar staff and Stella , Local beer and soft drinks were fine. Local spirits left much to be desired and Red wine was better than white, both Egyptian but again drinks were acceptable for the price of the holiday.

BEACH: Lovely clean beach and excellent free speedboat service to nearby coral reef. The same old problem of reserving beach beds by the Brits now seems to be worldwide.. Iif you want a beach front bed of poolside spot you need to join the "Bed Baggers" BEFORE 7-45am. AS usual most of them were not used until after 9-15am and one couple put their own red towels out at dawn but some days never actually used the poolside beds at all all! It IS difficult for the hotel to make provision for this kind of selfishness but because of the low price you wondered if these people had just graduated from" trailer park holidays"

SHOPPING: The Old Sharm Market just 100 yards away was a mixture of reasonable quality, scruffy and "looky looky, cheap as chips " A better market was at Naama Bay to which the hotel has 3 free shuttles each day.

ENTERTAINMENT: The Thomson staff claim that it is meant to be "low key" but tyhere were a few good local acts.. The resident husband and wife duo are certainly "LOW KEY

STAFF: ALL staff were"(without exception) DELIGHTFUL. Nothing was too much trouble and even in the buffet restaurant they would get you almost anything you asked for even if it was not on the menu .

OVERVIEW: A lovely hotel , A great 2 weeks holiday at a very competitive price .The hotel was only 40% occupancy which meant that there was no stress at buffets . We realised it would have been a different story with only 260 sunbeds for a full hotel of over 520 people ! So go now whilst some people are scared of visiting this region (without cause we must say) and look for deals,.. We paid £1200 approx. but Thomson seem to be offering the same 2 weeks all-inclusive for £720

Room Tip: Sea view are well worth the bit extra

From the minute we stepped through the doors of this hotel we were treated like kings. Nothing was too much for any member of staff. We were asked on a daily basis if we had any complaints or ideas how best to improve the hotel. The hotel was fantastic, the staff all made us feel very welcome. Food was good there was always something even for the pickier eater. As soon as we return to scotland we are off to the travel agents to book for March 2014.

We have just returned from one weeks holiday in The Iberotel Palace.

I reckon the hotel was less than half full, probably due to the reported troubles in Egypt. Do not worry, there is no sign of any troubles in Sharm to affect your holiday.

This is our 10th holiday to Egypt in six years so I feel I have the right to rate this hotel in an unbiased fashion.

Room 3313
A large comfortable room, recently redecorated, with a balcony overlooking the pool and sea that gets the sun until midday. The only real complaint was the pressure of the shower but that's a minor point.

Food (buffet restaurant)
There was not the selection of meals as there was in other hotels we've stayed but there was always something to take our fancy and of a standard expected of buffet styles. No problems.

Pool area
There was always plenty of sun beds available all through the day. Despite this some guests insisted on saving "there" sun beds with a towel. Why I don't know. Maybe it's a territorial thing, but not required.

Beach
The beach is OK with plenty of sun beds available. My only complaint was the very loud music from surrounding hotels. I doubt whether there is much that can be done about it.

Beach #2
The second beach is good for snorkelling and can either be walked to (15 minutes) or by a short boat ride, 5 times a day from the hotel beach. The second beach is not well maintained and leaves little to be desired apart from the reef.

Service
No complaints at all. Every staff member we met was happy, smiling, attentive and wanting to ensure everything was up to standard.

The Old Market
If you want to shop and pick up a bargain visit the old market across the road from the hotel. Be aware, you will be harassed every step you take. Don't be put off, it is an experience and you can pick up a bargain if you're prepared to haggle.

Overall we had a great relaxing holiday in a hotel that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in. I would not suggest this hotel is any better or worse than most of the hotels we have stayed in Egypt, but we are a bit fussy and always pick the better rated ones.

Room Tip: Odd numbered rooms get the sun in the morning, even numbered in the afternoon.
