After reading the last review I was a little shocked as I stayed at the same resort in the same Garden Gezira Suite at exactly the same time but the only difference was that my husband and I were with our 18 year old son and we had a fantastic time and we travel all over the world around 3 times a year. With this is mind I was not expecting this to be the best as never been to Egypt before BUT IT WAS THE BEST HOTEL AND SERVICE EVER RECEIVED BY OUR FAMILY.
We were looking for Thomson in Airport after arriving and Four Seasons came up to us, pulled off our luggage loading our trolley and took to the car where there was cool water waiting. On arrival of hotel a greeting of huge Xmas tree and glass of warm gluvien whilst checking in. There was also a big Ginger Bread house lit up with cookies for the children. I could go on about Xmas etc but would take forever. Let's just say we are booking again for next year Christmas afer spending the last two in Whistler Canada ski-ing and Trembolant Canada the year before. Much better service here at Four Seasons and much more of a Christmas atmosphere even though sunshine and no snow!
Housekeeping we found exceptional. They came twice a day. Once in the daytime and once at evening to turn down beds and replace any towels used. We never found them slow and usually there were always two of them. They fitted in with our lifestlye and it was never a problem to ring whenever to come and clean. I suggest if you think they are slow just make sure they do it when you are out!
Room Service we had this a few times and the food was always piping hot (not cold like previous review) and I would describe it more of having a butler in the room the way the table was laid out, and every item to detail was just right. You call when you have finished and within 5-10 minutes the whole table cleared away.
TV - yes some of the channels don't work but who sits in the room watching TV all day. Saying that we had BBC News, CNN, Movie Channel, Fox Movies, Cartoon Channel etc so that was more than adequate to catch up in between leaving room for pool. You also had 3 DVD players in the suite where you can either take your own or they have a large selection in Reception for hire ranging from toddlers to adults.
Pool area was wonderful also. (We went to Waha Pool which is main pool and less small children) Yes you cannot eat around pool, though you can drink. When you arrive in the morning after breakfast you get a cup of tea or frozen mango drink. Later you get asked if you would like to be cooled by spray water. In between the rest of the day you get a cold lemon towel to refresh then have a fresh slice of melon, later followed by pastry/cake. Forgot to mention there is a Funiscular (like a tram) that takes you down to pool and back up again to hotel area. When you arrive at pool the pool attendants ask how many and then place three towels per person on your bed. They lay one out to lie on, one to dry with and one rolled as a pillow! Luxury.
For those of you that like jogging or walking they have 3 jogging trails and a botancial walk with a guide showing you the 20+ different flowers they have (the gardens are full of beautiful colours)
Service in the Restaurants in the day was again exceptional. Unlike last review our wine was topped up after you took only a few sips. You are remembered by name even though we ate in all of them. One restaurant we ate in my husband didn't like the soup. They asked what was wrong with it and very apologetic (nothing wrong at all others were eating it my husband just didn't like it) the Manager then came over to apologise yet again and they wouldn't charge for it.
We did take trip to Naama Bay by car from hotel and asked them to pick us up two hours later. I suggest this was just the right time. If you don't have anything in mind then maybe a waste of time but I bought some very nice handbags (£12) and my husband bought some T-Shirts. A few of the shops sell very expensive items and had very nice shoes. We stopped for a cold glass of beer before heading back to hotel. There was a Carefour supermarket there and we stopped in for some washing powder and a few little snack things for evening. To my delight they sold a few items of American Food like Peanut Butter and Grape Jelly and Kraft Mac Cheese, which I bring back when we come home from States so I managed to buy these to bring home in my case.
There was one downside and it can be corrected beforehand if you know how. The suite we were staying in backed onto some loud music in the evening. I have a plan of the resort with all the rooms etc. Not just suites but rooms and villas. I can scan this and send to you if you send my your email and what type of room you are staying in. If you then ask you holiday company to request a special area that should ensure you a good base. I can suggest the good areas for pool beach children and adults. I also brought home the jogging trail map aswell which has two 1.5km trails and one 3.3 km trail.
Mini bar was very pricey for shorts but we had bought duty free on way out to drink in evening on terrace before going to bed.
Last piece of advice remember to pack a pen for way out. You need to fill out leaving forms and we didn't have one and it was crazy to try and find one. Just makes life a little easier
