Stayed 5th-12th January 2012 , bed and breakfast , standard room.
Booked via Thomas Cook , which then subbed it to Olympic Holidays.
Transfers were in English, punctual and polite. Arrival at the hotel is mediocre compared to some other lavish new hotels being built, but as the hotel is over ten years old, kept immaculate and clean, can't fault the design of the entrance and lobby.
As other people on this list rate the staff, its all true, they are very friendly, helpful, and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and treat you like a king, without a doubt the best feature of the hotel and indeed even on European standards five star.
The hotel lobby is spacious, mediocre , not a wow factor egyptian 5 star , European 3.5 star.
The standard room is huge 117m2 , very clean, room service and cleaning are very good as well, but the rooms are exactly that standard. View was overlooking the delivery bay and services below, the neighbouring hotel and the fantastic mountain backdrop which really is amazing.
There were several restaurants there and I attempted to each at all of them .
The Sundowner is set in an octagonal recess in a magnificent large bean shaped pool away from the main hotel. Menu is limited as the food is cooked in the main hotel and transported to you, so the only drawback could possibly be the temperature of the food. Neverless very good.
The Al la Carte , where they serve breakfast as well was very good . Breakfast standard but from what i saw on my excursions the hotel breakfast is far superior to most other egyptian food , but alas still not european standards but still very good 8/10
The Shisa, La Luna, Pool BBQ, Treasure Cove , Bistro etc all very good , but the Lebanese is exceptional. I am not a big fan of lebanese food but the restaurant location, atmosphere and food is world class.
The Treasure Cove has the best view I have ever been fortunate enough to dine at . Nestled in the rockery face with a Robinson Crusoe timber structure and platform extending out, with a fantastic elevated view of Tiran Island, the coral reef and most of the beach, looking at the red sea and hearing the waves. very impressive.
The prices were a little higher than expected, but after as mentioned previously, eating outside of the hotel , you realise how spoilt you are and only want to eat there as there is no comparison to the majority of restaurants outside. Prices not far off London prices, but you are on Holiday and deserve to be so. Half Board would have been a good option if you have few excursions booked.
The grounds , pool is amazing . They boast the biggest pool in Sharm and its probably true. Its huge and not matter how busy it is you will always find a spot. Noisy around the kinds section with a "Snoopy Club" and Animation team as expected. Great entertainment for the kids with hourly activities. Table Tennis, Bowls, Water polo, Volley ball etc and two water slides which keeps all the kids having hours of fun. Other areas of the pool area is both the fresh and salt water option, with showers, waterfalls and a few jacuzzis scattered about, where it is very tranquil and relaxing. The extended grounds also have tennis courts and a golf course (apparently the best one in Egypt) which considering its in a desert is not bad.
The grounds are beautiful, colourful and well kept, nicely lit at night.
Without question the best part of the hotel is terraced beach area. Even when you see other people's pictures, it is so much better when you see the real thing. It has a Dive Centre where you can get snorkels etc. Their are four jettys, rigid and the coral is far superior to anything you can see Naama bay. Not quite Ras Mohammed , but safe , secure and easy access. Makes Naama Bay and the rest of Sharm seem very inadequate. Lovely array of fish and in the short time i was their managed to see a Napolean, +- 2.0m in size.
The hotel has entertainment daily on a raised stage, dancers, musicians and a variety of acts. There is internet cafe, a gym, a salon , massages in a tent either by the pool or beach. Their is a wall of fame where many countries presidents have visited the hotel and even the Egyptian president has his own palace on their grounds.
The hotel caters for everyone and is better than any picture you will see on the website. It could do with a little maintenance in some parts .
Location to the rest of Sharm, absolutely perfect . Locals will say its far from the centre, i.e. Naama bay. But after you have been to Naama and the rest of Sharm you can't wait to get back. Dolphin shows, glass boat, Old Sharm , El Mustafa, 1001 fantasia and airport is nearby +- 10-15 minutes top and their is a free shuttle from the hotel to Naama if you wish to go.
Its better than Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Dahab and the rest of Sharm .
Thank you to all the staff that made the stay unforgettable .
If you book this hotel you will not be disappointed.
