Just got back from Sharm el Sheikh and have to post this quickly in the hopes this happens to no one else. When they were bringing our daughter and her friend back on to the boat, the strap of the harness snapped injuring my daughters arm in the process. The two girls were also trapped in the ropes as when the harness snapped, the chute went into the water dragging them backwards. They described it as 'almost being decapitated'. We have video evidence that the strap on the harness completely snapped. When we looked at the harness, webbing etc on the chute you could see it was almost completely frayed through in some points and that the whole rig was completely beyond use. The girls also said they could hear something 'cracking' when they were up in the air so we think this was the section that failed starting to give. It just doesn't bear thinking about what would have happened if it had snapped when they were up in the air.
The company first tried to blame a helicopter that had flown by for 'stealing their air', then said it wasn't suitable for two people, and then said if you choose to go up it is 'between you and your god'. They were laughing at us when we demanded our money back but did give it back in the end, although we had at this point said we would call the police.
We saw other companies with much better looking equipment (both both boats and chutes) so I would recommend looking around and above all checking the harnesses, straps etc before the boat ever leaves the shore.
If they will send people up in frayed harnesses, I can't imagine what safety precautions are like in other areas.
Don't use them.
