“FANTASTIC - WONDERFUL - BEST HOTEL IN SHARM”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2009

Just returned from 2 weeks at this fabulous hotel and had an amazing holiday and made many new friends.
Firstly, I would like to say I was there at the same time as FRANCISCAR who wrote a review on 17.9.09. I will say she was a nightmare guest and created an unpleasant atmosphere. I can assure any person reading these comments that most of her complaints were totally unjustified and unwarranted.
NOW WHAT DO I SAY - From the moment we arrived at the airport and saw George's smiling face until taken back by George on departure, the whole experience was truly wonderful and you are made to feel very ROYAL indeed.
Check in was exceptional and everything about the hotel was explained by Mohammed Ali. The rooms are very pleasant, fresh fruit and flowers on arrival are a nice touch.
There are about 11 restaurants to choose from, either within or outside the hotel in Soho square, standards are good and the food is very high quality, the tepenyakki restaurant was the favourite. I have been to 5* all inclusive hotels before but I have never had such good quality food or overall service.. The separate pool area for royal guests was lovely, Ali looked after the sunbeds, towels etc, and the pool bar staff (emed and rammy) served water and drinks all day long, nothing was too much trouble for the boys. Thank you very much. The beach was a short walk away and the snorkelling was great from the jetty. Looking for NEMO every day, the elusive clown fish!!!!
Anyway just one last bit to say thank you so much to all the staff but I really have to mention - ISLAM, HAMDY, GEORGE & BARBARA, you are lovely. We met some wonderful new friends on holiday that we hope to see again.
The Royal is a little gem, hopefully there will be room for us next year, but overdevelopment has the potential to spoil this unique experience.
Again, many thanks to all the staff.

For the first time ever in over 30 years of traveling around the world we returned to the Royal hotel in Sharm and have not regretted doing so.
The service, as last year, was excellent, the food and drinks plentiful and the choice of food outlets even greater than than impressive selection we had last year.
We stayed on the all-inclusive package which represents great value for money, so this is highly recommended.
The extra luxuries the Royal offers are great value, better rooms and bathrooms, almost daily food treats delivered to the room, the dedicated lounge serving small light bites during the afternoon, the excellent service there and a brekfast setting in the lounge offers a peaceful start to the day away from the usual larger breakfast areas experienced in other hotels.
Be aware if you book the Royal they will meet you at the airport on your arrival - fast track you through passport control and luggage collection and do the reverse on your departure - again a nice touch!

Just returned from Honeymoon at the Royal and cannot say enough nice things about the place. Truly fantastic from the minute you arrive to the minute you leave, would return in a heartbeat. The staff are exceptional, cant think of one that we weren't impressed with. The restaurants are superb, particuarly Hot Rock and the Teppanyaki, the only one we were slightly disappointed with was the Italian. The Royal is an intimate hotel, and you do need to be fortunate with the other guests that will share your time there as you do get to know everyone quite well around what is quite a small pool area. There was a great bunch while we were there that added so much to our experience, namely Jamie, Claire, Steve, Lorraine, Alan, Sharon, Gordon, Julie, Dale and Neil and others who's names have slipped my memory (apologies!), but all of whom helped make our stay such a pleasureable one, thanks to all of you. Do check with you travel agent before travelling that there is not a couple from Carshalton called Kevin and Karen there at the same time, you will need to take ear plugs if so! Only joking guys, they were brilliant, with special mention to the night that Kev wouldn't let a poor Frenchman leave the Teppanyaki restuarant until he'd stood up and sung the French national anthem. Surreal! I loved it, Sarah loved it, already saving for next year!

After our most recent 2nd perfect vacation at the Royal Savoy, we are already in the process of booking again for 2010.

This hotel is without doubt one of the best we have visited. 5*. From the very first contact on arrival, through to the last contact on departure, guests are made to feel very "Royal"

The rooms are large, clean and extremely comfortable. The food from the many varied al-a-carte restaurants is without doubt , the best available anywhere, freshly prepared and cooked to your personal taste.

All the staff around the Royal are very special people who genuinely care about you.

However I feel that I must unbiasley clarify certain comments made by "Franciscar-Attenschwiller" 17th september 2009.

Although construction work is in progress, this is by no means intrusive or disturbing.

With reference to a pool attendant accepting money, this certainly would not be for reserving sun loungers, but would be a genuine gratuity for the excellent service that is provided all day long, as is the same for all the many waiters etc; who run around all day providing unlimited refreshments.

As for towels on sun loungers for "English People", these are only provided to guests in person early in the day. How can you expect to get the choice of sun loungers at poolside when you arrive towards lunch time?

Regarding air conditioning, not able to turn off. This is simply done by removing/inserting the card in the main switch directly inside the room entrance door. Her comment is contradicted by her stating the air con; was off during the day.

I hope these comments are not read as a personal attack against this person. These are facts that I must state in defence of this wonderful hotel.

We have just got back from the Royal Savoy where we were for one week for our honeymoon. We chose it because of the good comments we had read on this site but I have to say that we were quite disappointed. We expected it to be a separate hotel which is it not, it is part of the Savoy so, although you don't have children in the private pools the other pools are very close by. Also I was under the impression that the Royal Savoy was a hotel only for adults and after all it is for children over 12 as well. There were major construction works going on. I believe that all hotels should mention that on their sites and lower the price because to be woken up by the noise of hammers during your honeymoon was quite disappointing. The first few days I often felt like crying. I had made such an effort to find us a great hotel...... Even when we were in the pool we were listening to the construction noise all day (even during the weekend). Then there was quite an annoying situation. The pool attendant accepted money from guests to reserve sun loungers. First we couldn't understand why there were empty loungers, set up with towels but we never seemed to be able to use them because they were for the "English people". After a complaint to the general manager he was sent back to the beach where he actually belonged but first came to the pool to say goodbye to the other guests and explain that it was because of us that he was going. The next day some woman comes up to us and tells us that we wouldn't be welcome in the pool anymore. A most weird situation. Very disagreeable indeed. In the end the woman shut up and we got a very nice pool attendant. I would say that this hotel is not a 5 star, not by our standards, too many things go wrong: the cake we got in our room the first day was left there, half eaten for a few days till we asked for it to be taken away, an ironing board was delivered to our room although we never asked for it, we never seemed to get all the information we needed and often got it from other guests, the airco couldn't be turned off and had only one temperature, it would always be turned off during the day therefore the room would be hot when we got back, etc. There are very nice parts like the main reception in the Royal Savoy, their Safari bar, the Hot Rock and the Rosmarino Restaurants..... but the walking paths to the beach, the private Royal Savoy swimming pools and the Seafood Island Restaurant are badly in need of renovation. We updated from full pension to S Class. I had read some comments of people who thought that it was not worth it but we were glad we did. S Class entitles you to eat in all the restaurants in Soho Square as we as all the restaurants in the hotel. It was great fun to try a new restaurant every evening otherwise we would have to eat in the Tirana restaurant which we tried but didn't like. There was a gala dinner but as it was held in a conference room due to too many guests we found that it was not worth it. No ambience at all and the food was also not very good. Most guests of the Savoy were Russians, in the Royal Savoy mainly older British people. We like quiet hotels and the very loud music the first days twice a day for the aqua gym in the main pool was quite disagreeable. As I like aqua gym I tried to attend but due to the very loud music I couldn't hear a thing the lady was saying. In the last days the music became less loud which was good because it made the hotel seem like one of those cheap hotels with entertainment and loud music all day. We went to Naama Bay but found Soho Square a lot nicer and till Christmas they will have 17 hotels. We could also make use of all the bars there. The food overal was not too bad but could be improved. Both Savoy hotels have some very nice staff (Mr. George, Mr. Hany, Barbara, the general manager, the two young people of the Safari Bar, Ali the pool attendant, Achmed of the Saffron Restaurant, a gentleman of the Seafood Island whose wife had just had a baby....) the others do their work correctly but didn't impress me. We felt relaxed that because we didn't have to pay any bills, only sign we didn't feel we had to tip staff all the time. Other than in many comments here we feel that it is up to the hotel to pay staff, not to us! It is them who should fight for better salaries. Would we go back.... maybe not, we feel sad that our honeymoon was far from the romantic holiday of a lifetime but then it is hard to find a great hotel, standards have gone down a lot while prices remain too high!

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Royal Savoy staying all inclusive (S Class). The moment we walked into the arrivals lounge we were met by George who guided us speedily through immigration to a waiting car (also returning home he provided the same excellent service). Our room, overlooking the pool was spacious, with flowers and fruit upon arrival. Our favourite restaurant was the Italian, freshly served and cooked to perfection - no microwaved for us. If you enjoy seafood then you are in for a treat. We ate in all the other restaurants except the Ukranian, all were of a high standard. My one criticism of all the restaurants is that they do not serve the white wine cold enough, even though we asked several times for "berda" (arabic for cold). All the staff are very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. There was never a problem getting a sunbed on the beach whatever time of day we went down for the snorkeling. There is some building work ongoing but this did not affect us at all. We don't usually return to the same hotel twice but we will definitely go back to the Royal.
