“Excellent stay but some improvements required”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Royal Savoy is a fantastic property to stay at.One might argue that the rates are a little expensive but the exclusivity ,private pools ,beaches ,free drinks etc are totally worth it.The staff is great and the customer service is world class.

Some of the minor issues is that lunch can be a problem given Soho square is closed in afternoon and Royal savoy has limited food options during afternoon. There is construction work going on probably alterations and that can have some noise in the rooms which is a irritating.

Hi to all at the Royal Savoy

We have recently returned from another fabulous stay, we were thoroughly spoiled and it was great to meet up with so many of our friends and staff at the Royal Savoy and Savoy hotel.

Sharm El Sheikh feels incredibly safe and we had a very relaxing holiday.

We wish you all the very best regarding the launch of your new lounge and rooms during 2013 and hope to return and see you next year.

Thanks for another great stay..

overall i thought this hotel was escellent however there were good and bad points
Good points-
Service, from the pick up from the airport, virtually off the plane, on the beach, restaurants and royal savoy lounge we were extremely well looked after.
Food - excellent in most of the restaurants we went into. Steak house wasnt as good as we expected, seemed to concentrate on the quality of the steak and left the rest to chance.
Pools - spread out and well looked after however a few tiles looking a bot dodgy
Not so good -
Room - though large it was tired looking and though the room was cleaned excellently the patio doors were smeared. it also looked over the main savoy pools which did take away the feeling of exclusivity (as did the closeness of the savoy beach next to the royal one).
Noise - I agree with other writers the music was overwhelming and clashed coming from different sources. I didnt get the feeling of peace and quiet i usually do on holiday. They was constant noise every day from 8am til late and though this didnt bother us too much it did annoy on occasions.
overall we would return but only when all the alterations are done, the staff really make this place and Soho square is great.

My first ever review on tripadvisor.co.uk last April was about the Royal Savoy ended with the line "We will be adding ourselves to the list of repeat visitors later this year!" - and so it came to pass. Always a slight fear when going back somewhere fabulous for the second time, that maybe the repeat visit wouldn't be as good. No need to worry though.

We flew with Easyjet (the service from check in to boarding was horrendous prompting me to wonder whether they transport humans as they would never be allowed to treat animals the way we were treated at Luton airport that morning...) However, Easyjet's shoddy customer service did at least provide the most amazing contrast for the wonderful greeting from Gammal of the Royal Savoy at Sharm airport, who whisked us through Passport control, carried our luggage and led us to our courtesy transport. Cheerful and chatty, knowledgeable and professional - a real credit to the hotel.

On arrival, Samuel was charming, Anna was brilliant.

Everything about our holiday once again was superb. The food, location, atmosphere and especially service were exceptional. Our room was very spacious and bright, with efficient air conditioning and good sized balcony overlooking the main pool (same as last time). Little touches like bathrobes and slippers, DVD player, daily fresh fruit and cakes in the room were great.

We opted for the Half Board Dine Around again giving us loads of choice for our evening meal either within the hotel or in the numerous restaurants in adjacent Soho Square. All the restaurants were very good, with the Italian our personal favourite.

The Half Board Dine Around meant we paid for drinks after 8.00pm but beer and soft drinks were free from midday (and between 6.00pm and 8.00pm you could drink anything you liked).

The staff were outstanding throughout our stay - courteous, cheerful, helpful and a joy to interact with. On chatting to some of them, it became clear that they took a real pride in working for the Royal Savoy. Bassem by the pool and Eshayad "the egg guy" were particularly impressive.

The majority of UK guests that we met were on repeat visits to the Royal Savoy and the staff and service were quoted as the main reasons.

On our sad final day, we were driven to the airport where Gammal was waiting to escort us through check in, passport control and security - the easiest entrance to an airport ever!

At the risk of repeating myself - the best hotel with the best food and the best staff - we will be back!

We would agree with all the other positive comments on trip advisor.

From our arrival to our departure we enjoyed the excellent personal service by all the RS staff whom we came into contact with. They were all extremely polite & courteous & their service & peronal attention was second to none.
Our room, the lounge, restaurants & pool area were all of a high standard of comfort & hygiene.

This is undoubtably the best club facility we have stayed at in Sharm El Sheikh & we would recommend it & look forward to returning.

Room Tip: Second floor has good views

My wife & I have just returned form a week at the Royal Savoy and had a great time. Many of the plus points have already been called out but overall the stand out feature of the hotel is the service provided by staff. We were also greeted almost as soon as you got off the plane and whisked through security without any need to queue. Upon arrival we were upgraded to one of the junior suites which was a lovely gesture but probably a reflection in that some of the RS rooms are unavailable whilst they complete the hotel extension. Our room, complete with jacuzzi bath, walk in shower and four poster bed was lovely and overlooked the main swimming pool - I cant say that we were disturbed by any noise and at this time of year the hotel was very quiet. Breakfasts are served in a small, but private, reception room / veranda and a mix of cold (meats, cheeses, breads, croissants, cereals etc) and hot (buffet) are available. In addition, Farag, who is one of the happiest people I have ever come across, will prepare eggs in any way you want them. We were on the S Class plan so all meals and drinks are included. I do think that this was good value with international spirits included and only the very expensive cognacs & brandies along with lobster or wagyu steak carrying a supplement. However, only local wines are included and one chardonnay from South Africa - the remainder are expensive even with a 20% discount for S Class guests (so a basic Sauvignon Blanc was c£50 incl. the discount). There are numerous restaurants to eat at split between those on the hotel complex or situated in Soho Square (a 5min walk from our room or a 2min buggy ride !). I would strongly recommend the Indian (Bombay), Chinese (Zen), Italian Rosmarino) and L'Entrecote steak house. I would also agree that the Hot Rock restaurant was ok but it is very dark in the restaurant - this is also the case in the Safari bar and I would suggest they the hotel do need to improve the lighting. We based ourselves around the RS pool and I would echo previous comments on how good both Mohamoud and Bassem are - they look after everything when you are around the pool from constantly providing any drinks you require along with fresh towels and would set up our beds each morning before we even got to the pool !! The beach is ok and typical for Sharm and there are 2 pontoons for guests to use for snorkelling which was great. The hotel has a well equipped gym but there were a couple of machines which were broken during our stay and it did get busy. Given we stayed very much in the low season I would suspect that it gets very busy during the key summer months and I feel that the hotel does need a larger complex or a separate gym for RS guests. My only other suggestions would be that the RS lounge closes at 10am and after that you have to trek across to the Safari bar which is a shame so couldn't this open later ? Secondly the RS lounge & reception area need to be larger but I know that the hotel are in the process of addressing this and the new areas are scheduled to open in April next year. I would add that although the hotel does have quite extensive building work going on in the RS wing it really didn't create a significant amount of noise and in no way distracted from our enjoyment. In summary, a few small things which could be improved by the hotel but the rooms, complex and especially the service provided by the staff was fantastic and I would strongly recommend it.

Just returned from the Royal Savoy. This was our third holiday in Egypt but our first time at this hotel.
First of all let me say to anyone who is considering a holiday in Egypt - go! The people are friendly, the weather is fabulous and the country is rich with a fascinating history.
Now on to the hotel, from the time we were picked up at the airport to the time we were dropped off for our return home, the staff were extremely helpful, professional and friendly. They are all clearly very proud to work at this hotel and it shows in how they treat their guests.
Our room was spacious, clean and had brilliant air-conditioning!
There is a seperate breakfast room/bar for Royal Savoy guests which was very pleasant.
There is a seperate pool (and beach) area for Royal Savoy guests and the service at the poolside was excellent.
Those are the bits that we enjoyed, now on to the bits that we didn't enjoy.
The Royal Savoy is basically a 'private wing' within the complex of the Savoy Hotel. Yes you do have a seperate lounge, pool and beach area but all other facilities are shared with the Savoy. For us this took away some of the 'exclusivity'. Our room for example overlooked the main Savoy Hotel and pool area which was always very busy and at night we could hear the entertainment from the Savoy. In fact throughout the day they seemed to have 'background music' playing all over the complex which I think was meant to be relaxing but in fact drove us mad!
There were three lunchtime restaurants within the complex (as far as we could see), we only tried two of them but the service was so slow that we abandoned having lunch after the first few days. For example at the Fish Restaurant it took nearly 2 hours to have our lunch, an hour and a half of that was just waiting for our food.
In the evenings you could go into Soho Square to eat , we did this on three occasions and the food was very good. However Soho Square is extremely busy and so if you didn't fancy the hustle and bustle you were only left with a couple of options on the hotel site. The buffet restaurant was terrible, the Italian restaurant was good but always booked up in advance (even though you weren't supposed to book restaurants until after 1pm each day) and the steak restaurant is decorated a bit like a dungeon/cave, good food if you could see to eat it!
My thoughts are, if you could take the Royal Savoy away from the Savoy complex and give it it's own gardens and restaurants, then it would be exclusive rather than just part of a bigger complex.
I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with the Savoy but if the Royal Savoy aims to be exclusive then it should be completely seperated from the other hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms or suites away from the Savoy Hotel are more private
