Well arrived back from Sharm el Sheikh last night 3rd February. I stayed at the Karma Hotel for 7 nights thinking it was a good 3* hotel, but wrong. I am going to start and say the staff at the Karma are excellent and caring, and always there to help you. I would like to give special praise to Samier Yuosef who looked after me fantastically all the time l was there, well done to you all.

Now the worst part, yes it is classed has a 3* hotel but does not deserve that rating due to the standard of accommodation. My room, 108 the curtains were hanging off the rails, yes l mentioned this when l first arrived, the beds are very basic with wooden lattes and a very old mattress almost 4 inches thick. The cleanliness of the Hotel was not very good, the beautiful marble floors were washed with some strange solution then just left to dry leaving it dull and streaky all it would take to make it better would be to buff it up with clean dry clothes. The walls in the corridors are painted white but covered in black scuff marks, it needs a full repaint then any scuffs can be touched up when their appear and not left. I could go on but the management will already know the problems but are most probably restricted with what they can do by the owners. Ooops! l nearly forgot to say that while l stayed at the hotel it was school holidays in Egypt and the hotel was full up with the families, who were very noisy all through the night. They used the swimming pool in their clothes which l did not like, but that is their culture. The British guests totalled about 12. I think l should have been warned about this before l went because l would have stayed somewhere else. Would l recommend this to anybody that is a big NO, not until it as been brought up to date. Again, l want to say the staff were tremendous.

Room Tip: My tip for a good room is book somewhere else.

I went here for two weeks in January 2014, it was beautiful. The staff were ever so friendly and would of done anything to make my stay more enjoyable, the food was great healthy and the chef would make sure that if there was something you wanted him to cook for you that he would cook it.
The price that I paid for my all inclusive holiday was so cheap that I couldn’t possibly moan about anything. Its location is close to the exotic beaches and the hotel have set times and free buses to and from the main towns such as namma bay, and the karma hotel beach. The rooms were very average and cleaned daily, anything that I asked for they were more than happy to give me.
The hotel is an excellent choice although it is only a 3* the staffs welcoming manner and bubbly personalities most definitely make up for that. I will be going back in summer to the same hotel :)

If you don't like the Uni Sharm/Hotel Karma then move on and pay more elsewhere. If you love a good moan about a wide variety of small things this is the place for you. The building desperately needs TLC and probably a new owner too.

The staff were totally amazing and more worldly than any UK tabloid reader! Remember they
work long hours/7 days for next to nothing at the butt end of currency exchange compared to us, before you moan at anyone lesser than the owner(s).

Meanwhile the sun, coral, tropical fish, culture and Sharm El Sheik remained as 5* as for
anyone staying somewhere posh and I was not bitten by any bug until on the plane home!

If you look past some of the small petty items, then you will have a excellent time.

The Good
Firstly I have to say I found every member of staff very helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble, but for the hotels sake I sincerely hope they start acting on peoples comments.

The Bad
As for my room, fortunately I didn’t suffer a bed bug problem as did the previous two posters, I also found the room quite spacious, although the bed sheets were well worn and well past their need renewing date, I also turned off the fridge every night because it was quite noisy.

Unfortunately it seems that previous comments with regards to installing any type of fly killer in the dining room area have either been overlooked or ignored, which is such a shame as that is one of the biggest and most talked about topics from guests and is enough to put people off from booking the Karma Hotel for their next holiday.

On the subject of food etc, I tried suggesting to one staff member that it would be nice to have something similar or even the same ‘Milk Rice Pudding’ that was on offer ‘with breakfast’ at dinner time, (but preferably hot or at least warm) because the same DRY sponge cakes day-in day-out were just to dry, although just because of the way some people got stuck into them should not be and is not the same like or dislike of all nationalities.

As for the food in general, no doubt some people will say it was very repetitive, but for myself I found it excellent, but then again I very much like that type of food, foreign food in a foreign country, much like being at home.
(if you only want English food, then go to Blackpool, or somewhere similar)

Much can also be said with regards to all the broken and missing plastic overflow grating around the pool, which is just waiting for accidents to happen, as happened on two incidents when I was there when one person fell through the grating and another fell into the overflow channel.

Then we come to the Pool Table and the broken pockets with the balls constantly falling onto the marble floor with the noise they create each time a ball is pocketed, people want to have a quite drink or conversation not listen to the constant noise of balls hitting the marble floor.

The not so pretty.
The not so pretty bit (which was a shame really) is mainly because someone needs to spend about 30 minutes doing a bit of cleaning, but everyone seems to believe someone else should do the job.

Whilst the sites masseuse was very good some of the facilities he is working from were appalling, or I should actually say ‘filthy dirty’ which was possibly why after the first massage I was instructed to go and wash/shower in my own room, not to mention I was so glad to get out as not only was the steam ‘cold’ (yes, a room full of cold steam) but I actually came out shivering because it was that cold in there.

Unfortunately I had already paid for two sessions and before my second session I was informed that the steam room had broken down and he was waiting for a engineer to repair it and I could have a sauna later in the week, however I later declined his offer of the sauna after since discovering the state of the shower facilities and stated I would not step one foot in the facilities again because of the condition it was in.
Wish I had stuck to my original plan and used the Turkish Hammas just up the road.

This could be a fantastic little hotel, but it needs someone to step-up, take control and get things done.

As for the area of Sharm el Sheikh.
Sharm el Sheikh is a fairly large area and ‘Umm El Sid Hill’ where the Karma Hotel is located is just a small part of it with mainly just two long streets with more shops than I could count which I nick-named ‘Hassle Ally’ but you can only walk up and down them so many times, not that it made any difference to the traders, you still get hassled, but I made it a mission only to brows shops that didn’t hassle (too much).

The Old Market is another good area but with being almost two miles away is either a good walk or a taxi ride away.

Not forgetting the Karma Hotel lays on a mini bus twice each morning to ferry people to and from the public beach, which was where I also met Susan on at least one occasion, which means no, she did not spend every day around the hotel pool as reported earlier.

Because of the location of the hotel one of the main things it lacks is some form of evening entertainment, without trying to get guests to pay £10 per head for a free bar until 1AM, people will and did spend money on their own account as with the Karaoke night that was laid-on on one occasion.

Maybe then the hotel would not need to lay on a mini-bus every night to ferry people to Naana Bay or Soho Square for something to do, if the hotel wants to make money, which it clearly does, then this is something they need to start thinking about.

One other thing the hotel should consider is a ‘Pool’ for tips, because every member of staff deserves something and it’s just not possible to tip everyone individually.

So if It’s just a nice quite sitting around the pool holiday you are after then the Karma Hotel would be ideal.

As I said at the start, if you look past the small petty items, then you will have a excellent time, or am I just too easy to please, not forgetting don't expect the earth when only paying peanuts.

Room Tip: The corridor can be quite noisy with people talking when going to their room, so the further away fr...
