I will split this review up into sections so you can decide for yourselves the good and the bad parts of the hotel.
Room: Our room was clean and tidy. The cleaners which come in every morning put everything in a perfect place such as all our bottles of deodorants, sun creams etc were placed in a line going down in height order, I found this very amusing but nice. He also put my earrings in a line in colour order and the same with my shoes.
Our room always seemed to have loads of mosquitoes. I put this down to the cleaner leaving the door open while cleaning the balcony I guess. It isn't a bad thing as it is expected in a hot country. The only thing which got a bit annoying was having to get up every 10 minutes to crush any which were flying around our heads.
Food: All inclusive foods is rubbish no matter were you go. The main restaurant was like a free for all. All the kids pushing and even some adults. Breakfast consisted of hotdogs and lots of sugar e.g. waffles, pancakes, rice pudding, chocolate sauces, caramel sauces and icing sugar. Dinner was just bog standard food, not excellent but not bad. Tea... Well you had some water with bits of pasta in it which they called soup, then some kind of rice, either boiled or fried. Then some potato dish (mashed or boiled). Then some beef then chicken then something with pastry then vegetables. This was the same every single night without fail! Deserts were okay sometimes but many people stayed well clear of the deserts.
*All salad has been washed with bottled water so is safe to eat*
Pool: If you wanted a sun lounger next to the main pool you need to be up early! By 8am every sun lounger has been taken by towels while everyone goes for their breakfast. It was full of children running around without their parents so you always felt you had to watch them to make sure they were safe. I saw one man say to his 3 year old child to keep his armbands on because he and his girlfriend were going for a massage and they left this poor little child on his own for two hours! Me and my boyfriend felt we were responsible to look after him until his parents had come back. I suggest if you go to this hotel and you want a more quiet spot them next to the snack bar there is a quiet pool with few kids. Perfect for relaxing and having a quick swim.
Thompson Reps: They were useless to be honest. One didn't have a clue what he was going on about and the other was so obsessed with the way he looked he didn't really care what you had to say. He was forever wandering around the pool flirting with every girl he could see so when you needed help he gave you a brief answer. Back to the first lad, all he told you was to give him a good review so he could work in a different place. Very poor service with these two!
Drinks: Water was the only nice thing to drink. The beer was stale and warm when it was served. The spirits all tasted the same and were never measured out properly, they just tipped it into the glass then put a dribble of coke on top. The juice had more sugar in it then a 2l bottle of coke! All it did was dehydrate you. The lifeguards even had to take kids to the bar and tell them to get a bottle of water instead of juice.
Local Activities: There are plenty of things to do and I enjoyed the glass bottomed boat on the red sea! There are local shops and across the road in the sister hotel there is a lovely beach with a long jeti were you can see all the different types of fish. On the beach you can hire scuba diving and snorkelling equipment which is good fun. Up the road is the Soho square with an amazing water fountain. Outside the hotel you will spot people with camels, if they say 'do you want a picture of my camel' they want some money off you if you do. The price roughly of this will got you about 5 Egyptian pounds and if you want a ride on the camel it will be roughly 50 Egyptian pounds. If they say its free, they still want money and can be pretty nasty if you don't pay.
Weather: Amazing but if you take your kids use plenty of sun cream and keep them in the shade and keep them hydrated.
Doctor: Well, I had suffered from prickly heat over there but the doctor seemed to have no clue what to do and what to treat me with so believe it or not he had to Google what he was doing. Then when I arrived home, I got rushed into hospital as I was really poorly then it turned out the doctor had given me 8 injections all for the wrong thing. So I had a high amount of antibiotics in my system fighting off nothing because nothing was wrong with me. The hospital advised that I should have just been given some antihistamines and camomile lotion. He seemed to speak little English as well which didn't help the situation I was in.
Staff: There is a bar man called Mohammed but we all called him Jimmy and he was super friendly. Everyone else were very nice as well and all made you feel welcome and helped you whenever you needed it. Also they enjoyed to have a chat with you and have a bit of a joke. They are great with the children and everyone seemed to love them.
Overall, I think that our holiday was great but I think I want a quieter hotel next time.
Hope you enjoy your holiday :)
