After touring independently around Egypt and and Petra, Jordan, we decided to treat ourselves to Swisscare Nuweiba Resort Hotel. What a treat! The reports submitted to TripAdvisor are all true!

After clearing the chaotic customs and immigration procedures at the Port of Nuweiba, it was so wonderful to see Alvin holding a sign with our name on it. Before we even got into the vehicle, he had reached into the cooler to offer us a cold drink! His staff were equally cheerful and caring in ensuring that our stay was memorable. The Internet in the Bar was down, but it was no problem to use the laptop at the Reception.

Our room, which was really a suite, was clean and large with a balcony to watch sunrise over Saudi Arabia or sunset over the Sinai. Food was good, but too much - we never could finished our plates in the 4-course dinner. While we were at dinner, our beds were turned down for the night.

Although, there were touring options available and staff were more than willing to help plan them, we opted for a relaxing couple of days of suntanning on the beach. The staff adjusted the windbreakers to cut out the cool winds. They came to ask if we would like food or drinks.

After running around Egypt, we enjoyed the quietness and being able to walk out to the beach at night and stargaze or look across the Red Sea at Saudi Arabia's night lights. There were walks along the beach or snorkelling in the Red Sea.

At the end of our stay, we arranged for a vehicle to drive us to Cairo with a stop at St. Katherine Monastery. Alvin drew us a map of "how and what to see" at St. Katherine including where to get the panoramic photo. We faithfully followed the map and spent 2 hours there! And saw everything!

The driver (Mohammed) and vehicle that was arranged for us was equally excellent in ensuring that we were in good hands. He was a very safe driver! Thanks Alvin!

Our only regret was that we only stayed 3 nights. It will have to be longer next time! We highly recommend Swisscare Nuweiba Resort Hotel! We already miss Alvin and his wonderful staff. Great hospitality!

Having stayed at the Hilton Nuweiba Coral Resort in September 2007, we were intrigued by Swisscare, the other hotel listed for Nuweiba in Longwood's brochure. We decided to satisfy our curiosity and escape UK weather for a couple of weeks at Swisscare in January 2008, and thorougly enjoyed our stay, returning home feeling very relaxed. It was less warm than we had hoped it would be, still windy, with one day of very poor weather. Nevertheless it was lovely and warm on our balconies, and windbreaks are provided on the beach. Alvin was on hand to chat and inform, members of staff were cheerful and helpful, rooms wonderfully spacious, good food - always hot (so much food!), but best of all, peace and quiet. Little acknowledgement of the festive season which suited us well. We didn't spend time in the bar, apart from to borrow books from the library, simply because we dislike cigarette smoke, but it seemed a very friendly, social place to hang out. We had a lovely time diving with Sarah and Daniel of African Divers who looked after us extremely well. Swisscare also has the benefit of an easily accessible housereef for wonderful snorkelling. Altogether a very friendly hotel, and in our opinion well deserving of the recent "Hidden Gem of Africa" award.

We had a family discussion on our destination for Xmas and on reading the many negative reports on stomach problems, hassle and mosquitoes we nearly wrote Egypt off as not for us.

However reading the many TA reports on various hotels we found that the Swisscare was unique in that there were no negative views.

We found at the Swisscare attentive friendly service, cleanliness, good food ~ freshly prepared, not buffet style, lovely swimming pool spotlessly clean albeit cold. We had no stomach problems, no hassle and we did not get a single mosquito bite ~ in fact we did not see any mosquitoes.

We spent our time lazing on the beach whilst our son did the diving course with 'African divers' based at the hotel. A perfect combination making a perfect break. We had one trip out to St Catherines monestery which was interesting

We could say a lot more but would only be repeating the comments made in other TA reports on this hotel

A relaxing, comfortable, quiet resort. Staff couldn't be better . Rooms huge and very comfortable. Reasonable food, no stomach upsets. Snorkling on the doorstep. Dive centre adjacent and again, extremely helpful owners.
We loved this place because it was NOT a big multinational affair, no cheesy entertainment, no noise, great beach.
