Visited this hotel for 2 weeks from 26th Jul-9th Aug with my partner and boy, aged 7 and found it a great place for us. We chose Egypt for value and this hotel especially for the inclusive waterpark, and at the time of booking had received very few negative comments. Having read some of them since coming back I feel some are not fully warranted. Shuttle Bus: On our first day we wanted to go to the waterpark and turned up at the bus stop for the first bus. We were waiting approx 10-15 mins while the queue got bigger and we got hotter. We started to worry that this was the norm for the waterpark and worred how busy it would be once we got there having been to Spain & Turkey where we couldnt find a sunbed never mind one in the shade if you arrived late. The mini bus turned up and yes there was a free for all to get on but it is unfair to accuse all germans of queue jumping, there was a german family of 6 who were first in the queue and they also got upset when other germans tried to jump the queue when we all realised we wouldnt all get on this small bus. But wiith good use of the elbows we managed to 'hold back' the biggest culprit until the german family got on, and then we got onboard. The german family kept thanking us for helping them get on the bus together. However, there was no need for this panic as once we got there we more or less had the water park to ourselves. From then on we got a later bus and avoided the initial rush, and they do run every 10-15mins and will wait for you. Food: As the week progressed, we did find our appetite reduced, but there was always something we found to eat, my partiner would have liked to see more seafood (fish stews dont count) (-:. whereas i was quite happy with the vegetarian option if i didnt 'like the look' of the meat dishes. The continental breakfast selection was the most extensive i have seen from other hotels. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch more than the dinner selection. We used the Grill a la carte, and i thoroughly enjoyed my steak, and my partner enjoyed his seafood kebab, but would have liked more of it. Room: we didnt make any requests before arrival and was provided with a top floor room over looking the quiet pool, which seems to be the favourite location. The rooms are spacious and more than adequate, we made the mistake of having the air con too low in the first few days and i got a chill, once we increased the temp overnight to 22 deg we found this comfortable. The free WIFI was more than enough for our use, but had to go on the balcony to get it, but no problem in reception or at the entertainment area. Entertainment: the evening entertainment is the only criticism, but to be honest, i find all hotel entertainment pretty poor so no reflection on this particular hotel. Our boy went to the kids club and thoroughly enjoyed his time, sometimes he was the only english boy, but this did not matter as kids seem to just get on together and the staff could speak english, and they all receive a certificate at the kids disco in the evening. Which is great for the kids & parents involved but can see how it would be tedious for others to endure. The manager invited us all to the egyptian restaurant during the first week, where he dined with us and we could ask him anything, he stayed eating & drinking until the last guest left. We enjoyed the weather, the warm, clean, clear sea, the snorkelling which was fantastic to have just off the beach. We did do a boat trip which cost us £104 for the 3 of us plus meals and equipment, we swam with the dolphins in the sea and had plenty of time to 'browse' the corals at our own pace. We bought the dvd for £25 which had us all in it, including my partner diving off the top of the boat and our boy jumping from the side, we thought the whole experience was worth the money. The staff on the boat were great and made sure we were comfortable with the whole experience. Overall, we enjoyed the quiet relaxed atmosphere, loads of sunbeds, both at the pools and the waterpark, no queues for the slides, which if anyone has been to the waterparks in Spain & Turkey can testify a minimum of 20_30mins queue for the popular slides - if your lucky, but usually longer. We didnt venture into town, partly due to the heat but more so that we didnt want to drag our boy around shops either so elected to stay on the resort for the 2 weeks. Went home feeling relaxed and chilled. Assuming the troubles in Egypt get resolved, I can this resort getting more and more commercialised, particularly around the water park area.
Block 12 & 13 is a good location for the buffet restaurant and quiet.
