“Stella Gardens Makadi Bay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

we visited this hotel from 5th March - 19th March... it was a relaxing and enjoyable experience, there was not many English there but we prefer it that way, lots of Russians Italians and Dutch... all really friendly.
the arrival from the airport to the hotel was quick and efficiently dealt with , our room was located facing the fountain pool with the entrance to our room facing the wave pool which we thought was an ideal location. the room cleaner Samer was fantastic and was available all day should you need any thing.
There were 4 A la carte restaurants but we only used the Lebanese,we got to know several waiters Mohammed and Ali , who made our meals special every time.
we spent a lot of our time sun bathing round the heated pool which has a bar where Mohammed made yummy cocktails for us .... and plied us with coffee....
the animation team were nice ... especially Fox and Manos he was crackers but in a nice way...
the sales people were pleasant and most excepted when you said no thanks...
Mostly this place was calm and relaxing and Hot ... just what you want for a holiday... we would defiantly return to this resort....

Myself, wife and son went on holiday with my Parents for 14 days and stayed at the Stella Makadi Gardens. Returning last night we are already missing the People and Hotel.
What a place!!!. As it was my sons first Holiday abroad at 4 years old so we was concerned with the food as he is a fussy eater but from day one the Chefs made him feel very special and made anything and everything he wanted. Even though the Food was amazing in all the restaurants.
The Staff make you feel very welcome and we all made lots of friends, Amir, Rabea from the Lounge bar, Hythem our favourite waiter, Hany our sons favourite Chef, Bahra our Pool barman & Sayed our pool chef & Omelette chef. They all made our stay very very special and always made our son smile. All the Staff were so family orientated and this has made him want to go again. It is really the best hotel we have stayed in. Everything is so clean and tidy, the rooms are made up and towels are changed everyday, You get a free Safety box which you code so no key needed, the rooms are very large and there is a TV with loads of movies to watch at night. Pools are not crowded and there are always loungers available. The only thing i was disappointed in was the selection of alcoholic drinks as the exported stuff was chargeable but If you like a beer or spirit and don't mind the local stuff then you will be fine. The Entertainment needs a little work and seem a new group. But in a whole they are great with the daytime activities and are very friendly. Just be prepared to watch the same entertainment the second week if you are there there 2 weeks. Night time there is a lot of work to be done but like before they try. The local Club is worth going if you go on the promo night but the music is mostly dated rave, house and dance. (No R&B). And everyone smokes inside. There is only one downfall of visiting in march and that the place is over run by Russians who can be rude and over fill there plates with food. The walk between the 2 hotels is not far and there is a bus running between the 2. But with all the little issues we have not been put off going next year and plan on spreading the word to family and friends.

Room Tip: If you have a young family or don't want the loud daytime / night time music. The Slide Pool roo...

I've just been to Stella Makadi Gardens 8th March with five friends and had a fantastic holiday. My friends have been to Egypt many times but agreed that this was the best overall. The rooms were a good size with a large bathroom. The staff were very helpful and the cleanliness of the rooms, in fact everywhere was exceptional.. We ate at all the a la cartes and particularly enjoyed the Lebanese and the Italian. Ibrahim who served us in the Italian was particularly good and I should know as I'm in the restaurant trade! They made us feel special, as it should be. There were many pools, all fabulous and again, excellent staff at the swim up bars. I was warned about being hassled in Egypt but the people were always polite and accepted our refusals graciously. I sincerely hope we'll be there again next year!

Room Tip: As far as I know all the rooms are very good

We visited this hotel 5-12 March. Welcomed in reception with a drink and efficient reception staff, within a few minutes we were on our way to our room. The room was well appointed with a good balcony, fridge and television (which actually had 50 viewable chanels) Free safety deposit box and overall very comfortable.

The main restaurant was spacious, had themed food days including BBQ'd, mediteranean style food. The food which should have been hot was, there was a great selection of salads and deserts to die for.

There was a dine around A la Carte option which included Lebanese, Italian, Indian and Chinese. Reservations for these restaurants were made on the morning you wished to dine. This feature was part of the all inclusive package and well worth the experience. In general the staff were totally focussed in each of the restaurants to ensure a professional, enthusiastic standard of service was maintained. Well done!

The beach restaurant catered for all those idle bums who wished to stay local to their sun bed.
Food was BBQ fast food type including pizzas, salads, chips, etc...

We stayed by the quiet pool to avoid being annoyed by the hawkers on the beach and the main pool who were trying to sell you, massage, pedicure, boat trips etc... The pools were very clean and well catered for with parasols, plenty of sunbeds and swim up bars.

The animation team worked tirelessley to involve all the multi-nationals in activities throughout the day. However, of an evening they proved to be somewhat self-indulgent and often not entertaining. Visiting artists were very good and dancing/drinks continued to 11 pm.

We did take a trip to Hurghada town, which was instantly forgettable, due to having to run the gauntlet from vendors. The town reflects the sad economic state that Egypt has been experiencing. Partly finished building sites, empty properties and poor maintainance of roads and pavements. Would suggest you give it a miss.

It was our 10th trip to Egypt in as many years and overall we found this hotel complex to figure in the top 3 in our experience. Would recommend and would return. Weather was very good as always varying between 28 and 35 degrees C.

Room Tip: A few of our fellow tourits were not happy with their allocated room and reception did move them if...

Stayed with my wife and son of 14 for 9 days in February in Makadi Beach Resort.
Very nicely shaped hotel with lots of space and swimming pools.
I have been about 6 times in Egypt during the last years staying in 5 star hotels and this one was the best. I want to specify that I am familiar with the hotel business.
The hotel was not even for 50% occupied so there never was any problem getting beach-or pool mattrasses. The place is so large and has so many pools that even with full occupation this should not be a problem.
Food was excellent. We even had lobster one night in the main restaurant.
Rooms are large and very well cleaned. Rooms at the shady side though are a bit dark.
We got 2 such rooms although there were many rooms available at the sunny side. Management should avoid this if possible.
So we come to the small minor points.
Lots of waiters to take your plates away but very few to serve you. Not even in the bars. Totally self service. A bit meager for a 5 star hotel.
I complained several times about the low water pressure in shower without result.
Too many Russians loading there plates as if this were there last meal and very badly dressed.
WiFi for 5 euro an hour nowadays is ridiculous.
We had an evening flight back but got no courtesy room. We were charged 10 euro for every 3 hours after 12.00.
Too many vendors bothering you on the beach and at the pools.

I gladly will come back to this hotel!

Room Tip: Ask a room at the sunny side if you are there in winter

Just returned from stella makadi gardens hotel on 5th march 2013.We had 2 great weeks. This was a great hotel.great selection of food. The chinese restaurant was excellent. The staff very helpfull and friendly especially shazly our waiter and mohda in the bar they treated us like roayalty. We had a great room it was spotless cleaned every day.Had many animals on the bed all made out towels and flowers. The service in the hotel from the cleaners to management were excellent. We went down to stella makadi resort & spa a few times to eat but we liked the gardens better. Both hotels are excellent. We like to walk so makadi bay is ideal as you can walk around the bay through other hotels.Stopped at other hotels for a drink 2 beers £4.This was our first holiday on the red sea and i would definately recommend it.

Room Tip: Room 1754 over looks a nice pool.Nice and peacefull. The service round the pool was excellent
